As a hard working Scot, I want the best public services we can get and I'm not stupid enough to think that we can get that without paying for it. Cheaper to pay for it now and invest in the health and education of the nation than deal with the higher costs of not doing it.
Aye mate, I don't mind paying the extra tax it goes towards people's prescriptions, including my own. My nephews won't have to pay to get into uni. I won't have to pay parking to visit someone in the hospital. it's just better for society as a whole, even if the tax I pay is more than what I use. People say you go more right-wing as you age. Decades of tory damage have pushed me in the opposite direction.
I was just about to say the exact same thing, tories have this childish attitude to tax in that they think EVERYONE is against higher taxes, but you look at the best places to live on this planet - all high tax - you get what you pay for - and if you want low taxes, be sure you're OK with bargain bin services, and all the extra costs that causes.

Yes Scots payer higher tax we supported it, free prescriptions, free bus travel for young and old, free further higher education for residents, I could go on, money spent on making people's lots better, rather than money spent on foreign wars.

Through the Barnet formula, what the UK Gov spends on the NHS, Scotland and Wales get a per capita portion to spend on their NHS, er go, when the UK Gov starvs the English NHS of funding, they're also starving the other NHS's. The Welsh and Scottish governments then take money from their other budgets to top up spending on their NHS's because they actually like national healthcare as a concept, but their other budgets suffer, unlike the conservative free enterprise privatise everything ethic, where they've privatised portions of England's NHS which means they no longer fund it, meaning they spend less on England's NHS which in turn means less proportional share for Scotland and Wales NHS'.
Explained in argument absurdum for clarity, if the UK Gov spent £0 on England NHS, Scotland and Wales get a proportional share of £0.

Not for decades does the profit from oil touch land apart from employees. The oil is sold on the open market to the highest bidder.

This is precisely the point of Independence. We would still have a Scottish Conservative party (or multiple) and they would be more likely to have their voices heard in a parliament that uses proportional representation (Scottish parliament) than first past the post (Westminster).

Scotland's resources belong to Scotland. Scotland needs to be independent to stop being used as a cash cow for the Conservative and the Labour Parties to pay for their friends and family to reap benefits.

My uncle works on the rigs. His wife is Scottish, they moved to Scotland for a while but all the flights out to the rigs start from Birmingham. They live in Leicestershire now, it was easier. So less of those jobs are in Scotland than you'd think.

quick point as a Scot who pays the higher tax rate. I called to see a GP for a non emergency and was seen the same morning. I appreciate that might not be the case for everyone trying to get an appt. but if additional taxes of the scale introduced recently afford this service, frankly I am in favour. When taxes get spend on the payee, I am more likely to be ok with the suggestion. an alien concept to Rishi
