Yummy, my summer treat in NY! I discovered Hawaiian shaved ice while on vacation in California, and it has become my favorite. It's shaved thinly, soft, and fluffy, allowing for better syrup absorption. 🍧
Wow, i know this ice shaver, we use to have one in guyana in the 70's, and we use to say crush ice and in canada they say snow cone, when i came to canada in the 70's i saw one in the chinese store and i bought it and i still have it.

Until today, I ever thought about whether the snow cone syrup made sense to be thick or thin but when you mentioned you does have to add water because it is too sweet I remember doing that. Your idea made alot of sense and that is why homemade things always better if outside ones don't meet the standard.
