- Hello Friends, in this video i will show you How to Make a Laptop Using Lattepanda Alpha. Which is very powerful PSB. it have 8GB Ram, 64GB Emmc, Intel M3 Processor. Operating System of This Mini Computer is Window is 10. its Pre installed in Board. i made its body on my Creality CR-10 3D Printer. its very useful and amazing. it Run Same as a Normal PC or Laptop, For Display im Using 10.1 inches Dispay which 1280x800 pixels IPS Display. Dude this Lattepanda is $400. I bought a complete Lenovo 330s 15 inch with 8gb, 128 SSD and i5 8250u for €410 on black friday. It has a 1080p IPS screen and a backlit keyboard.
It doesn't even have a battery. Even the cheapest laptop has higher build quality. It just shows how cost efficient laptops really are.
@Johnno9999 it's not a diss against the project. The project pretty much shows the limit of consumer parts and 3d printing. Still a cool project and one I may try to recreate in the future (but with a raspberry pi, since I am not made out of money).
I just think it's quite a waste because the i5-U already has 8 threads

Man... It's impressive HOW SIMILAR your project ended up to mine. Some months ago I had to idea to create a mini laptop, but with a Raspberry Pi, a 7'' display and an USB keyboard. I did basically the same as you, but yours ended up much more professional. The 3D printing company I hired made the case with slightly smaller measures. I had to grind, cut and adapt a lot of things. Also, you used some ideas that I wanted to apply but didn't know how to make, like the stiff hinges with nuts and bolts, and the slim HDMI cable (also, I'm curious about how you did that. Do you have a video about it?). All in all, great project!

That mini-laptop cannot handle Fortnite, if you look, it was sped up, and even with the timelapse, it still looked bad.

I would love to see maybe a little bigger base so you could fit a 1050ti in the "laptop."
The panda with an external 1050ti runs pretty good. If I recall right, no true CPU bottleneck and though it will be a M.4 4X slot, the 1050ti doesnt need much bandwidth.

Guys, before making this, always remember that this laptop has no batteries, so... you can only use it when plugged in
A few problems here.
1. No battery. The board uses 50 watts on its own so maxing TSA's 180wh limit would probably be needed.
2 no USB C. You only used the DC port for power and didn't route the ethernet, GPIO pins or the type C port to an access point.
3. No pockets/slits to put M.2 drives. Or PCI-E to M.2 adapters.
4. (And the time of the upload could be early to this board's release.) You should have used the O-droid H2. I'm pretty sure Celerons use less power than an m3 and the Celeron is a quad-core in this case and with upgradeable RAM.
Its more like a proof of concept fun build anyways, you can get a better specced laptop for like $120 used.

Hey! I remember watching this video in 2019 when I was a kid. I became so obsessed with this Raspberry Pi, Windows 10 and even making my own laptop at home in late 2019 but I gave up on the thought. A lot has changed today 2024. I'm a CZcamsr now
