Some people have asked me how old was the cane I used in the video. It was 13 days old when I made the video and the peeled cane had been peeled for 5 days.... So the total age of both batches were 13 days. Remember though, I am in the hot tropics so results will vary depending on conditions.

dipping each end in bees wax also makes it last a long time. It seals the moisture in.

Hey David, Thanks for your videos .we have planned to peel the sugarcane and keep it ready in a cold storage for one or two days before making juice what would be the ideal temperature to keep it hydrated ,Whether freezing sugarcanes will lose its hydration?

Hey David, how long would harvest sugar cane last outside of a fridge if I don't peel it. We don't have a freezer or a fridge. We grew a patch of sugar cane this year and its growing great but how long will it last after I cut it?

Hi Zach, This is a real common question we get and there are so many variables that would determine the shelf life of cut cane with the skin on it. Fortunately the cooler the conditions it gets the longer it will last. Generally sugarcane will still be tasting good between 2 to 3 weeks in cool conditions and only about a week in more tropical or humid conditions.
Did you get to try out the TT750D Pro with the Sorghum yet? I think you are right around harvest time now correct?
Let me know how it goes and if you have any questions I can help you with.
Wishing you a great Autumn season and cane harvest as well.
Again for the longest shelf life
      1. Keep it out of the direct sun
      2. Keep it in a cool dry place
      3. Leave the skin on it as long as possible before peeling it (if you will peel it)
      4. After the first week try to soak the ends of the stored cane in clean potable water. This can also help lengthen the shelf life
If you have more than you can handle then maybe finding someone with a freezer would be a good idea. It will keep up to two years in a freezer if you start freezing it within 24 hours of harvest. If you wait longer when the cane is already getting a bit sour then freezing it will not improve it. Speed is the key.
      Thanks Zach for everything.
      David
