Speechless is what people should be with E.L.O. Classic talent.
ELO/Jeff Lynne are amazing. Jeff is a very accomplished musician and producer. He’s even produced music for The Beatles and others. You should check out his collaboration with The Traveling Wilburys.
GAWD!... I remember this song from back in the day!... WOW! Brings me back!... thanks for the react!... BTW Jeff Plays 12 different instruments!
I had forgotten how good this song was!! I ❤ ur reactions
Yet another happy sound and my grandson is dancing along he's 3 and I'm playing him a lot of elo cos he seems to get it thank you 😊😊😊❤❤❤
I love this song! I'm glad you checked it out😊
ELO como en un equipo de fútbol ha tenido muchos jugadores, pero los famosos integrantes fueron desde 1974 a 1980. Kelly Groucott (bajo y coros) Richard Tandy (Sintetizadores y coros) , Hugh McDowell (Violonchelo 1) Melvin Gale (Violonchelo2) MiK Kaminski (Violín), Jeff Lynne (Guitarra electrica ,voz líder, coros) Bev Bevan (batería y coros).
Live concert at Wembley. Complete show is awesome
You might want to react to their biggest American chart hitter “Dont Bring Me Down.”
Biz, this was ELO's only Disco song, released at the end of the craze, in 1979. To get back to the ELO you love, I suggest you react next to their 1976 classic, *"Tightrope".* It's totally dope, to put it in your words. :D
ps~Thanks for diving head-first into the ELO rabbit hole, it's a deep one, for sure!
An absolutely marvellous rendition, a jolly good show.
The song El Dorado is a personal favorite of mine. The El Dorado album is a masterpiece.
This was their last album with the string section. It was called Discovery, or Disco / Very....and yah the strings were the same guys for years, no replacements.
Totally unique sound. For a deeper cut I'd suggest "Can't Get it Out of My Head", or maybe "Confusion". This song and "Funky Town" came out within a couple of months of each other, so it's not surprising if there's a slight similarity in sound and style. "Last Train..." was heavily sampled in the early 2000s for a song by Atomic Kitten ("Be With You").
Neither, "Can't Get It Out of My Head", nor, "Confusion", are deep cuts. Both were singles that hit the Top 10 and Top 40, respectively. Having set the record (pardon the pun) straight on that point, yes I agree, they are both good suggestions.
@@Cosmo-Kramer Don't think they were singles where I live in New Zealand, but they may have been...
@@jamesdignanmusic2765 They were both singles in New Zealand. "Can't Get It Out of My Head", hit # 20, and, "Confusion", did one better at # 19.
@@Cosmo-Kramer My memory must be going - blame old age :)
@@jamesdignanmusic2765 I accept your apology.
'The Diary of Horace Wimp' next please.
That group is amazing! I went to one of their concerts. Jeff Lynne is a brilliant singer and song writer. He was with the Travellers Wilburys...another wonderful group that included Jeff, Tom Petty, Roy Orbison, Bob Dylan and George Harrison. So sad 3 of them have passed away. They were fantastic in their own right.
And drummer Jim Keltner!
"Concerto for a Rainy Day" by ELO. It'll take you on a trip.
This is most certainly a "disco song" and one of the things that made this group slightly distinct was the fact it was created around the concept of the band being an "orchestra" all of the members were multi-instruments. Just take Jeff Lynne alone, he played something like seven different instruments he played guitar, bass, piano, keyboards, Cello, drums, percussion. And this band was a very big influence on the disco era. Jeff Lynne was very diverse in his music and incredibly talented, which he shows in his ability to cross over into many styles of music. Great reaction Biz
ELO was not a big influence on the Disco era. Disco grew out of Philly Soul. By the time this song came out in '79, Disco was all but over. And it's ELO's only Disco song.
@Cosmo Kramer I don't agree with you. I grew up during that era, and I know that they were a big influence on disco.
@@mamaflush9945 ELO's been my favorite band since 1975, sweetheart, and I can assure you that they were not a big influence on Disco. You should read up on Philly Soul and you'll find out where Disco came from.
@Cosmo Kramer Well "sweetheart" you should read up on the Rolling Stone interview with Jeff Lynne and how disco music almost met with the bands demise.
@@mamaflush9945 No you have it backwards Disco had an influence on Jeff Lynne the chief songwriter and producer of the group as it had a influence on a lot of other artists at the time (Check out Rod Stewart's "Do Ya Think I'm Sexy" and as did Rod Stewart and other artists at the time they suffered backlash from fans for going the Disco route Listen great artist like Jeff Lynne are fans of music just like us regular people and of course are going to be influenced to the musical trends at the time To more push this point across by the close of the 70s New Wave and electronic music were coming into prominence in the early 80s Check out ELOs next studio album after Discovery (which Last Train to London was on) Time released in 1981and you will see my point.
Should listen to Concerto For a Rainy Day-which is side 3 of the Out Of the blue album-each of the 4 songs blend into each other with the last being Mr. blue sky-this album side is their masterpiece.
Love, love, love ELO! My all time favorite is their "Tightrope" ! 🥰
Pure unadulterated talent , can't find today
one of the best bands of all time Jeff lynn is a magician....
I saw ELO nearly 40years ago at Wembley stadium and they are along with led zeppelin ,queen and many other bands from that era the best in history , especially live. Try evil women or telepathic line. Love your reactions mate 👍
Watch the live concert at Wembley Stadium.."Telephone line".
Stunning performance!
The drum beat sounds like a train on the tracks! The instruments paint the background around the train!
Love ya Biz!! Don't quit your day job. 😅. That's OK, I can't sing either 😅 And I agree, it's not my favorite ELO song either, but I do think it was an attempt to hit the dance floor. The bass line sounds so familiar - would anyone else agree with Funky Town?
😂😂😂😂
It just occurred to me (and I’ve had this vinyl since I was a kid and my mom played it) that the album is called DISCOvery.
All over the World ( flash mob video ) so good and uplifting 😊 ❤
Funky Town was released in 1980, this LTTL in 1979......just checke it out
Yes, these are the original members of the group from the 70's..
Rock and roll is King!!!
I had this cassette.
Me too - the sound of my last year at high school :)
Great reaction. I get it. Definitely disco. Lots of talent though.
you can't go wrong with Jeff Lynne. Musical genius.
Great Bass
Like your reactions my friend, I saw ELO
Thank you
I LOVE ELO!! They met in college where, they were all majoring in music & got their doctorate.
Don't know who you're talking about, but it's not ELO. I'm pretty sure that Jeff didn't even finish high school (or the British equivalent). Most of them were from Birmingham, England, where they met playing music in various bands and ended up playing together in the excellent band The Move. Jeff, Bev and Roy Wood left The Move to start ELO, although Roy left halfway through the second album to start another band called Wizzard. Richard Tandy had played in The Move from time to time and joined ELO in the beginning.
@@unrulyjulie4382 I must have gotten the wrong group. Hmmm... Oh well, still love them! lol
@@1118alpet Yes, listen to unrulyjulie. She knows the score. Maybe you're thinking of Hall & Oates, who met in college at Temple University in Philadelphia, circa 1970.
@@Cosmo-Kramer I thought it was them. I never went against what unrulyjulie said. You don't need to tell me to "listen to unrulyjulie". lol 🙂
@@1118alpet Unless I'm mistaken, Jeff doesn't even read music (scores). At least he has said so in an interview. Hardly likely for a person studying music.
ELO is definitely purely legendary, not a bad song imo.
Originally 7 members, if you like something harder from E.L.O check out Do Ya , Showdown, Ma Ma Ma Belle or Rockeria.
Glad you got to listen to this! Sorry it's not your fave, but you looked like you were enjoying yourself, nonetheless. :)
The Beethovan of the 20th century !!
Fire On High, Jungle, Ma Ma Ma Belle, Wild West Hero. C'mon... 😎😎
Now you've said it I can hear Funky times but hey no that's the bad I think I loved then for ages was about 18 when this came out like your reaction
Ho 🤣🤣🤣me to👂🎶
This song predates "Funky Town" by 6 months so ELO didn't copy Lipps Inc on this one. They're both great though!
MAGA!🇺🇸👊💥
Choose any current top 5 songs on the US Billboard and look at how pop music has ended up in swamp compared to this genius composition. WTF is wrong with the current generation of musicians, singers, writers and producers?
