In Legion of Super-Heroes, the story picks up as Kara, devastated by the loss of Krypton, struggles to adjust to her new life on Earth. However, she is unable to control her powers and brings more chaos to the planet. To solve theis crisis Batman steps in.
Later her cousin, Superman, mentors her and suggests she leave their space-time to attend the Legion Academy in the 31st century, where she makes new friends and a new enemy: Braniac 5.
Introduced to the Academy by Mon-El, Kara mistakenly fights Brainiac 5, thinking he's her cousin's foe. Despite initial distrust, Kara and Brainiac 5 eventually develop a romantic relationship as they overcome their differences.

Why turn Mon - El into a villain when he's a distant relative of Superman and Supergirl,..
This is way off the charts of comicdom legacy... But I guess we're dealing with alternate universes in the DC multiverse, so anything is possible.

Mon-El was not a relative of Superman and Supergirl. He was found by superboy who named him(he was found on Monday and since he had similar powers given the last name El). Magic: Mon-El is also vulnerable to magic. Lead: Unlike Kryptonians, whose super-powers are driven from them by the radioactive remnants of their home world, a Daxamite's major weakness is his vulnerability to lead, which does not exist on their planet. Several of the details seemed to have been changed from the comics.

He's not a direct relative, but Daxamites, his race, were proven to be an off-spring of the Kryptonians explaining the similar power levels when in a yellow star. And yeah, I was disappointed they made him a villain.

I despise Batman more and more with each passing show/movie from the modern writers of DC. Batman isn't a cold sociopath that doesn't trust anyone, even his friends. Unlike now, TAS and even JLU Batman had compassion, trust and while he was stoic at times, still had his humanity and understood people, even to his rogue gallery. This modern adaptation is not Batman, but a slanderized caricature of what haters think Batman is: a cold recluse that distrusts everyone, that has no humanity or compassion and that is NOT what Batman is.
Yea it's sad that they are doing this to him even animated versions of him show him being compassion, trust and while he was stoic at times, still had his humanity and understood people, even to his villains for example: Ace and Baby doll
My Batman is the one from the TV show I watched growing cup in the 80s. He was a fun guy along with Robin. I loved that show.
I think they could have found a better way to get Supergirl into the 31st century without making Batman look like a jerk!

Is Mon-El not affected by kryptonite? I'll admit to knowing nothing about most comic stuff but I thought kryptonite being that close would affect them.
He’s a Daxamite.
Daxam is a colony of Krypton, and they sorta evolved SLIGHTLY differently than Kryptonians.
Kryptonians are weak against the radiation of Kryptonite. Daxamites get an allergic reaction from lead(as in, the metal used in bullets)
Being near lead doesn’t weaken Mon-El, but if it touches him, it would be as if Kryptonite was near a Kryptonian. He gets a bad allergic reaction that practically starts killing him immediately.
It’s a worse reaction than if someone was the same with peanuts. As long as the lead isn’t touching him or it’s out of his system, he heals up just fine.
