Lambay Island - Irelands Hidden Gem and Wallabies

Take a walk around the whole of Lambay island with me. I have always admired lambay when kitesurfing in Rush at at times have got close to it, but never close enough to get a good look at it. This wild food foraging weekend with Monica Wilde gave me the opportunity to see it up close and personal. There is something both magical and mysterious when you get close, maybe its the towering hills, the forests or the history that surrounds the island. I was like an excitable child ready to go exploring, I can tell you this, it looks and feels larger that its 600 acres. Its also home to over 300 wallabies that were introduced via Dublin zoo in the 1980's.

I have just discovered Lambay island, and now I learn there are Wallabies roaming wild there. I had no idea!! :O What a magical place. I'm happy just to know about it.

That was really nice to see, and very well done. I used to look out at Lambay and wonder what was there. I've been out to Ireland's Eye a few times, but never to Lambay.

It's surprising, that there are wallabies in the wild! What other exotic animals could survive here?

8 of them were brought from Dublin Zoo in the 1950s.
