Great to see this. Lutyens has to be the most thoughtful and talented architect of his generation, in my opinion.

He wrote a poem about it-
Off Dublin's coast by a mile or two,
An isle on which birds freely poo.
Neath sky of grey, I look above-
My hat is ruined by a dove

Thank you for a wonderful presentation. Love the intro with the letter from Emmie.
A Facebook posting of a very Lutyen's style house - in Nova Scotia, Canada - brought me here in research mode. Sharing this on.

The earlier bridge across the Thames at Runnymede is a Lutyens design, built years after the fact.

Very interesting and Lutyens's work here very well explained. The gardens look rather sad though.... Of course this is filmed in late winter, but you can see, even at that season, there is quite a lot of work needed to pull the weedy gardens up to scratch, prune, mow and replant with fresh stock. Surprising if there is not enough money available to maintain the gardens as they should be, bearing [or Baring] in mind who owns it.....🤔

These plants also deserve to be free - grow as in wild - humans so frequently 'ruin' a landscape with their rigid thoughts

It's all very British. For a little island off the coast of Dublin. 😒

Do you think it had to look more Irish? How could that be accomplished?
