So I made several duct tape two finger bow rings and my grandmother suggested to start selling them on eBay (I had been trying to get a job to help my family and for something else to do (I'm 15 and private schooled at home)) my mom said Etsy would be better because it's for handmade items. Neither of them knew I had wanted to start reborning because I just think it's so interesting, I love art and have many skills on different platforms of art... anyway not the point I saw a documentary you did on the art of reborning and it was so intriguing and you seem like such a lovely person, so glad I found your CZcams channel!!

Coming back here 5 yrs later lol. Still love your blending technique I tried to follow as much as I could when it came to shading and your book but still have not gotten the hang of the darker shading using air dry paints. They dry so quick some times that loading my color on like results in streaks and craziness. So soothing to watch you do it though:)

yes I think I may have found a flow/ adhesive and slow dry combo that might work just have been nervous test it out but I am going to keep trying !

My girlfriend wants to know, can a doll that was already painted, can it be painted again, from a white doll to a black one,
That’s hard to answer. If the doll was completed meaning had sealer applied then I don’t think it is the best idea to try to paint over it. I’d recommend stripping the kit and starting over. However, if the doll doesn’t have rooted hair and it has been sealed with heat set sealer, you could try to do some dark brown color washes and pounce it on like in my video above. Best case scenario is to always start with a fresh kit.

Hi Kate, loved this video. Just wondering, do you wash your blending sponges and reuse them when they get full of paint or badly stained.
+Jean Campbell Yes, I do...I have used mine over and over again.....They hold up excellently. Please see my most recent videos where I show how I wash and care for them.

Hi there! Requesting your Help!!! I have your book and i'm on shading part 1 and my doll was looking grainy so i purchase the Gamsol Mineral Spirit and my doll wiped off the shading and re applied my paint again after it was dry my doll still looks grainy. How can i fix that I have not bake my doll yet?

Thank you so much! Absolutely you could, your color palate would just be different tones or you could use less layers to achieve a lighter skintone. Hope this helps.
Did you achieve that dark skin tone by doing your method of dabbing the paint on with a brush and pouncing off? Im asking because I'm using air dry paints and my baby turns out blotchy.

I have a question. I know it is hard to achieve an African American baby skin tone, but I use my mop brush to slide alot of the paint up the limb then take my sponge and blot it back off and it take so much color off and I'm afraid that it took all of the color off. Should I just keep doing that for a good while even though it seems like all the color has gone off?
And my next question is that, when I use my mop brush to brush the paint around and along the head and then blot it off with my sponge, it seems extremely uneven. Like I see some white spots somewhere and then in other places... Like its weird. Do you have any suggestions for my problems? Or anyone else?

Hi, I started painting my first AA reborn, (first reborn ever) and whenever I'd add the paint that's been mixed with "Muse" mineral spirit thinner, my paint would blotch up and lift as well. I am now left with an uneven painted kit and don't know what to do. How can I fix it? Thanks.
Ccqueen G.V. I have the greatest success using Bob Ross odorless mineral spirits and Gamblin Gamsol odorless mineral spirits. You can find them at hobby lobby, Michaels, and any art supply store.

Kate, where to you get those roundish yellow colored pouncers?
I just recently purchased your book and I am having difficulty understanding the shading aspect of the book. There are real pictures of shading and then there is black and white diagrams. On the black and white diagrams for part one are those the areas that I am supposed to be shaded?
lovetheskinimn yes, follow the diagrams for shading for shading parts 1 and 2. You might want to apply paint in stages i.e. Apply paint to sides of face and forehead area pounce off excess paint and blend and move on to the next shaded area. Hope this helps. Also, if you are using Mona Lisa paint thinner, DON'T! Use Bob Ross or Gambling Gamsol odorless mineral spirits for best results. Hope this helps.

Hello, I totally understand your situation. I reached out to an artist and a lot of them don't do custom orders so you may have a hard time finding one. Then look to come out of several thousand dollars. Don't give up trying if you really want it. There are a lot of artists on Etsy. Good luck. I'm going to just order a full silicone from overseas and paint it myself, then whatever it turns out it will be my hard work/baby. 💞
