  • Hey Everyone! Welcome back to Part 4 of How To Reborn! Today I am working on Mottling and Undertones which will help add realism under the skin, which is also why I do this before skin layers. Mottling can be many different sizes and colors, depending on the skin tone and purpose of the layer. Stay tuned for more and don't forget to SUBSCRIBE!

    Thank you for your video,your teaching and help. :) Could you tell me how you make this irregular pattern on your sponges ? Cause what I have done it is the holes alone .

    • @MelissaFerrante
      @MelissaFerrante  Před 3 lety +3

      Honestly it's more trial and error than anything else. I try to include bigger holes and smaller holes, overlapping holes. bigger dolls I'll space the holes further apart and smaller dolls the holes a little closer together. I hope this helps a little.

    Great video ..I'm working with air dry but I'm wondering when do u do veins ? I know some people do them first and some after a few layers.

    • @MelissaFerrante
      @MelissaFerrante  Před 2 lety +3

      I do them in the beginning after neutralizing, sometimes before or after creases

    • @MelissaFerrante
      @MelissaFerrante  Před 2 lety +2

      This package says Artist Choice and is pink and 50 or 100 count, but any brand will do, check dollar stores, Walgreens, CVS, Walmart, target, Sallys Beauty, five below, marshalls, etc

    • @MelissaFerrante
      @MelissaFerrante  Před 2 lety

      Oh no, it’s very important to work in thin layers to build color. If the paints is already set you could try neutralizing washes. To figure out what color to use reference the color wheel. Any color across from another neutralizes. Ex. Green for red, yellow for purple, etc

    hi thank you so much for sharing! could I use any acrylic paint that is similar to the bountiful baby brand tones. for example from Michaels or do you think it wont turned out well. thank you again

    I Forget to ask you ....do you bake after each layers ....or each 3 layers when mottling

    • @MelissaFerrante
      @MelissaFerrante  Před 3 lety +2

      Depending on the size of the doll. Bigger dolls I'll bake after each layer since I can't grip the limbs well and can't touch the paint. But usually anything 22" and smaller I'll do 2-4 layers and then bake. I stay within the same color family though so reds & purples, Yellows & oranges, Greens & blues. Depending on the doll's complexion will determine on what color you use for mottling. I hope this helps :)

  • @heavenlymaderebornbabies3536

    How many mottling layers do you ?

    • @MelissaFerrante
      @MelissaFerrante  Před 3 lety +3

      This just shows the first layer but typically I’ll do a second layer during the blushing stage, after skin layers. But it also depends on the doll and appearance you’re trying to achieve :) some prefer heavy mottling while other like minimal mottling

      @@MelissaFerrante thank you! Could you do a more detailed tutorial? I already neutralised ,did some flesh 08 layers did the creases ,lips, purple mottling ,red mottling ,blue mottling,mauve,yellow and mint green but I can’t make it somehow look like real skin. No matter how many flesh 08 layers I do ,it just doesn’t look like real skin

    • @MelissaFerrante
      @MelissaFerrante  Před 3 lety +3

      @@heavenlymaderebornbabies3536 A lot of the times I feel I don't really see realism till the very end when everything is working together. I am working on the Skin layers video, which will be out shortly. I usually mix BB Baby Skin, Warm Blush, and sometimes Flesh 04. Have you Blushed yet? That too makes a big difference! Cheeks, ears, hands/feet, elbows/knees, etc.
      my biggest advice though I guess would be Trust The Process. Thats why I only do some mottling and then go back to it later on. Remember you can always add layers but its a lot harder to "take away" unwanted layers. I hope this helps! Hang in there more parts coming soon

    • @MelissaFerrante
      @MelissaFerrante  Před 2 lety

      I typically avoid the nose, under eye are, mouth area, and ears, but its all personal preference too. Some enjoy heavy mottled dolls and others enjoy a light mottling pattern
