Hi Joe, I have a lot of fun memories of La Romana while studying there. We used to go to Casa de Campo, Minita's beach quite often. Gonz and I were there just before the pandemic. If you go back and have time, try to visit Altos de Chavon. It is beautiful!!

Looks a nice place to relax, but $20 for an umbrella is expensive, but they want to make money out of visitors.
I have been to the south side, which was third world when i visited over 25 yrs ago, bitten alot by mosquitos, and your electricity and water could go off at any time ! Cant remember the resorts name, most people got ear infections that put there head under the water in the pool including one of my sons most people got sickness n diarhear also, the north side was more developed so wrong choice on my part.

I'm guess you can taxi to one. We stayed right at tge port very nice pool area.
