    This is the thinner interaction review I've been looking for! These are my favorite metallics by far, but never found a suitable thinner outside of their branded product, including automotive thinners. Thankfully they spray very well from the bottle.

    I came across these paints at a hobby show I go to every year. I was getting a little tried of alclad 2 paints so I pick up the chrome and gun metal bottle but not the thinner. I never thin them since I was told it will work straight out of the bottle. I loved how the Gunmetal goes on the inner frame of my Gundam kits, its so nice a smooth. Look at my 1/60 scale PG Exia that I made last year. I painted it in TransAm mode and I used the gunmetal on the inner frame on this kit.
    One thing you should know. If I have to mask it for painting other colors on the part the adhesive from Tamyia masking tape will stick to the part. Just used rubbing alcohol to remove it or top coat it first before masking it.
    Good demo on this product.

    I haven't used their metal colours, but I have used the primers made to go under them and I could just imagine your eyes watering from the strength of the smell. I had to open a window and put on a respirator to spray them. The primers have terrific adhesion and self leveling, but it often isn't worth the hassle of putting on a hazmat suit to lay them down. Usually just reserve it for painting over metal or something I know isn't going to hold polyurethane primers well enough.

    Hello, i would like to know, if theres any clear glossy coat/protector to use over these paints please?
    I used them for the first time in my first Gunpla "custom" so i dont know if i can or should use a clear coat to seal the line panel, water decals and prevent the paint to rub or scratch when i have to assemble all the parts again.
    Thanks for all help.

    I know this is older video. But the extreme metal I got, is so thin I didn't thin it anymore. But how long do you have to let the black base sit? I let it sit for an hour past I felt it was dry to touch. Then sprayed the extreme metal over it. The black base under the color got gummy and the metallic flake or whatever they use all ran together into the corners and low points of my parts. I spray my real colors at 15psi and I had to turn down my compressor to like 8 because this stuff came out very fast and very full

    Hey Linc!! love the review. I've been using these as my main go to non-acrylic metallic paints. I've used these on some of my Gunpla frames especially the MG Lupus Rex and I have to say I'm impressed with the sheen of these. Especially takes weathering, washes and stains very well too.

      Heya Eddie! Yeah, I am impressed but didn't want to zoom in too quickly in case they can't stand up to weathering processes - thanks for the tips and feedback mate.

      @@fabiorodrigues890 AK makes clear coats to spray on, but the key is thin layers. Even the gloss black primer should be thin layer. Since the paint itself is somewhat transparent and thin. I use Mr hobby semi gloss or Matt spray can clear coat. And works fine. I used to get the scraping and sticking too. And someone else suggested to me to use thin coats especially around the joints. Hope that helps.
      Cheers friend! :)

      @@fastereddiexx1 thank you very much for help and answer friend, i will look for Mr. Hobby then, it can be used with airbrush without have to thin?
      Like direct to cup and spray?
      Yeah my paint might be to thick i gave to layers, used their recomended AK black primer 2 layers, then 2 metalic layers to, so now might be to thick and gona rub probably, but it was my first try so i didnt knew what i was doing 😓. Just gona pray it works 😁.
      What about panel line and water decals? Should 1 coat first then do those things and then seal with another coat? Or i can do direct and then coat only once to seal?

    • @fastereddiexx1
      @fastereddiexx1 Před 3 lety +1

      @@fabiorodrigues890 Mr Hobby Mr Premium Top Coat Semi-Gloss is what I use. It comes in an aerosol spray can. But if you want to use air brush then you can use AK or MiG varnish but you’ll need to thin. You can top coat first then panel line. If you’re applying decals then I would top coat again. But should be ok if it’s not the under frame especially with decals. Just got to watch the layer thickness of paint and clear coat on the frame itself. It took me a while to figure it out too and many scrapes on the paint too.

    A question about the thinners if you don't mind. In the wide angle shots you have the Mr. Color Leveling Thinner as the 4th thinner but during the video you show the 4th one as T-07h, are they the same? Which one did you use in the 4th spot? I have a bottle of Mr. Color Leveling Thinner and I was hoping it would work with the Extreme Metal enamel paint that I have purchased but now I'm not sure. Thanks.

      Yes same and no they don't work sadly... Also cannot spray such paints or clears over these metallics either... Beautiful finishes though!

    I think these definitely have some potential for wear and damage on "metal" parts, as it looked very much like what you would actually see. I suppose if you put a great deal of effort into getting an immaculate gloss metallic paint job you would be hesitant to ruin it with battle damage though. 🤣 Nevertheless, I would like to see it on a Hyaku-Shiki, where it got a little scuffed up on its last sortie.

  • @AFV85
    @AFV85 Před 3 lety

    They mix with AK enamel thinner and normal white spirit, I'm using now the polished alloy it chips really good the worn effects from AK is best for the results get a pitting worn look more than a chip looks more real for metals! Fizzes like alclads more than enamels I put the alclad 2 in the lid next to this and they both do the same fizzing coming together thing in the lid polished aluminium is my favourite for shine thike a white metal for aircraft but you don't have this one here

      Look at like this if you pour water on some plastic it dose nothing other than making it wet. At the other end of the scale if you pour say Automotive thinner (hot product) on to plastic it will melt it. Like plastic model glue it works by melting the plastic so it forms a strong bond also a hot product.
