    I appreciate this was a quick temporary set-up, but see quite a few missed rail joints - watch out for that! Always assemble track on a hard flat surface not in mid air or on a soft surface.

      Yes. I noticed I had done that! But I didn't have time for another take! Thanks for watchig.

    Not LMS livery - BR Maroon/crimson. Sorry, I'm an LMS guy.
    The noisy coach may be defective. If a lube doesn't fix it, get in touch with Hornby.
    They need to know that the quality is not up to scratch and hopefully, they will replace it for you.

      Simon's Shed has reported the same issue. I think it necessary to increase the width of the rolling stock bodies by 2mm. Thanks for watching.

    4:46. BR maroon IS NOT LMS livery. BR Mk1's did not appear until '51, 3 years after nationalisation

    Hi Allen. Congratulations - you appear to have received a loco that doesn't have a bit loose in the packaging (ah, you seem to have a different loose bit to many others)! In your test, did you use the controller that came with the set? If so, that's interesting because often there is a hum from the locos motor that doesn't occur with a better quality controller.

    • @AllensTrains
      @AllensTrains  Před rokem +1

      I didn't use the supplied controller. I used an H&M Duette. The buzzing sound caused by the supplied Hornby controller affects any kind of loco. So that's why I didn't use it!

    • @AllensTrains

      Yes! My video shows Windsor Castle going around with 3 Triang coaches at the end of the show. Unfortunately, the Sun came out during the take and the camera went out of focus!

    How can the wheels get dirty on a brand new set so fast on a set you just opened and new track you put together?

    • @AllensTrains
      @AllensTrains  Před rokem

      The loco must have been tested at the factory prior to boxing and dispatch. It must have picked up the dirt from the test circuit at the factory! Thanks for watching.

    • @PlatformONE
      @PlatformONE Před rokem

      @@AllensTrainsif that's the case, the factory should be cleaning their track.
      As for parts falling off, doesn't sound like good quality control.

    The discussion about track radius is not correct because the TT track in the set is R3 not R1; the TT R1 is considerably tighter than that shown. I have the same issue with coaches in my set and also the whistle is upside down! Considering whether to continue with my TT experiment. Disappointing lack of QA from Hornby. I usually model US HO and not used to this kind of poor build quality.

    • @AllensTrains
      @AllensTrains  Před rokem

      The Triang TT track fits inside the TT:120 3rd radius track, so it must approximate to TT:120 2nd radius. I have not got any other radius Triang TT track to compare. I think the loco, coaches track and controller are fairly good for the price. Thanks for watching.

    One of your coaches seems to be making a lot of noise. My Scotsman set was crap and so I sent it back for a refund.

    • @AllensTrains
      @AllensTrains  Před rokem

      It is not just one of the coaches - it is all of them! The wheels are scraping against the sole bar. I am not sending my Easterner Set back because the issue can be resolved using larger radius curves.; Thanks for watching.

    At 7mins10secs check the tender brake blocks, one looks bent. Bent brake and other broken bit (is it loco brake rigging) are probably due to snagging on the track where its not joined correctly, check video at 5mins55secs.

    • @AllensTrains
      @AllensTrains  Před rokem

      I have examined the tender, and it is okay. The noise is being made by the coach wheels coming into contact with the sole bar. The noise occurs when you push the coaches along by hand. When you run the loco on its own you don't hear this noise. The noise does not occur on straight track or on the one piece of larger radius track supplied. Thanks for watching.

    • @PaulSmith-pl7fo
      @PaulSmith-pl7fo Před rokem

      @@AllensTrains Apparently, this noise disappears when the track is properly pinned to a baseboard.
