Although the same width of the track is used, the modern TT:120 is a different scale from the old Triang TT. Very little stuff is available for TT3 modellers, so I would advise you switch to the modern TT:120 and keep your old TT stuff as colletor's items. Thanks for watching.

I have thought of that! The difficulty is the patio in the centre of the garden which is a foot lower than the surrounding flower beds. A train could only cross it on a viaduct which would be in the way. Thanks for watching.

The advantage of it being water proof is that you can wipe it periodically with a damp cloth! I would attach it with Velco so it can be taken down for cleaning.

Rye is a Saxby & Farmer type 12A box and Hornby recently produced a model of Robertsbridge (also a Saxby & Farmer type 12A box) as R7365. Except Hornby produced the model with its the early seventies extension thereon and (if my recollections are correct) has not captured the country-end detail correctly). Hornby would have done better to have modelled Rye (apparently they were appraised of this at an early but chose to continue with Robertsbridge instead). Frant, Stonegate (was Ticehurst Road), Ham Street & Winchelsea were all (smaller) Saxby & Farmer type 12A boxes.

As I do not have a Facebook account (nor want one) cannot progress further. 😢 R7365 was such a missed opportunity as it is only appropriate for seventies-on Robertsbridge when it had it panel added - it would look rather strange pretending to be anywhere else. 😒 Of the Saxby & Farmer 12A boxes Rye is one of the larger in the area - why oh why did Hornby not just model Rye box........ 🤔

The train room faces south east and has a sunny aspect. I find results are better when I video using the natural light. When the weather is dull, it prevents me from making a video! In the winter, there is often no alternative but to use artificial light which wastes electricity! Thanks for watching.

I don't think it is the traction tyres. If you lift up one end of the coach and allow the power bogie to run free, then the speed is not constant! I have traced this fault to a mylar capacitor on the side of the bogie. I think there is a bad solder connection, but I have as yet to prove this conclusively. I am going to have a go at it tomorrow. I had a lot of issues making that last video, with the Blue VEP stopping dead for no apparent reason! The Blue one has now conked out completely. Detached wires to the mylar capacitor. The NSE one is still going, but is showing similar symptoms to the Blue one!

@@paredding I am stuck at the moment as I am unable to remove the power bogie from the chassis. I am going to have another go at it soon, but I don't want to chew up the bush that is holding the power bogie in place!

@@paredding I would recommend getting the sets out of their boxes and running them for a while. I have found the 4VEP to be a poor runner out of the box, but running improves with time!

Yes! The wheels are different. I can't say whether this train will run on a fine-scale track. However, the wheels being housed in the axle boxes are not free to move from side to side. This might allow the train to run on fine-scale track if the flanges clear the chairs. I think the only way to know for sure is to go into a Model Shop with an offcut of the track you are using and ask the man to try it! www.compass-house.co.uk/frames.htm

@@AllensTrains The original 4 VEP is not compatible with finescale track and even the 2 BIL /2 HAL units benefit from replacement wheels. 😺 The Bachmann emu stock is fine once the back-to-backs are checked. ⚡ Allan at Compass Models is very helpful and the Blossom & Bean Cafe just along the Eridge Road serves a good food (as I'm sure you may have already found)! ☕🥧

I used to travel to Sussex University every day and I always tried to get into the part of the train that was the CIG and not the VEP because it was more comfortable! Poly cement does not stick to die cast and some of the plastic parts are a flexible type of plastic that won't stick with poly cement which dissolves the body-work. Thanks for watching.

It runs more smoothly tha the old model and can achieve a slower speed. But it is noisy! Yes. It was the only clip of a train in this livery that II could find!

The new version R30106 Southern Class 423 4-VEP EMU Train Pack which is due to be at the retailers shortly rectifies this with the power bogie being removed to the guard's van. Not all of the issues with the old model have been addressed with the new model, notably, the electric shoe is the same thin etched brass effort! However, the new version motorcoach has a die cast chassis to give it extra weight and avoid the need for traction tyres. I had placed a pre-order with Hattons many moons ago, but now they have gone phut. I am mulling over placing another pre-order. What do you think? Cheapest price I can find is £308.54

@@AllensTrains TMC are advertising the new 4 VEP for £326.69 and Kernow selling for £326.99 (same as Hattons who have sold-out on pre-order). 🙂 £308.54 is a keen price if the vendor is reliable. The abolition of traction tyres would be welcome, although the coarse wheels prevent the Hornby 4 VEP from visiting Ewhurst Green. 🤨

@@AllensTrains Sorry your order was cancelled; Rails is not a company I tend to use. Not heard of KMS rail tech before - their prices do appear to be very competitive so will have to explore thier website. A quick check confirms KMS Railtech Ltd as being registered as a private Limited Company no.SC587518 formed 1st February 2018. Based outside Aberdeen, tt has three company directors and may enjoy low overheads.

It says on the box, Set No '2677' R3341. The train has the number 2677 on the front, and the pictures on the box match the train. It is a 2-HAL. I must be the clown who transposed the two trains! I have now corrected this mistake. Thanks for watching.
