How can Nigeria be a power player when it has no power to play? It has a population of more than 250 million, more 125 million of whom live in acute poverty, crammed in a country slightly larger than Zambia or Mozambique.

@@jeremylesso857 Which country has China 'owned' so far? France was owning your neighbour Niger before and after independence and you never saw it!. When they started to shake off the shackles of their enslavement, did you not threaten to use ECOWAS on the behest of France and its EU cohorts to re-instate the 'French agent' Bazuom? You even sanctioned your brothers! I've never seen a more shameful and thoughtless action! Look in Asia and see how developed countries which engaged with China are! In spite of having similar cultures, there is no trace of 'owning' I was touched by a man from Singapore who said that they have been trading with China for over 2000 years and not once has China invaded or attempted to invade them! I would rather believe him that the 'tales' from the Western media, which are hell-bent to keep us Africans as backward and underdeveloped as they can and absolutely hate it that the Chinese are helping Africa to finally start developing. What we Africans should not do, is to try to immigrate there as we do to Western Countries, as this will end in bitterness!

      That’s laughable
your “big” needs to be quantified, because in the BRICS group the 200-250m is nothing to declare as big
There’s a single state in India with more people and economic growth,
More than 1/3rd of the worlds population live in just two BRICS countries (~3 billion people of the 8 billion globally), what percent of global population is Nigeria?
Don’t deceive yourself, your “big Nigeria” is only “big” because Africa is badly fragmented and divided,
yes, Nigeria is the most populous country yet only ~15% of the total population of the continent of Africa.
With among the lowest GDP per capita on the continent and the world.
Make no mistake, if they grant Nigeria membership in BRICS, it is Nigeria that has access to a BIG market and should be happy,
      😂

@@koriifaloju2051What's interesting is that the per capita GDPs of Nigeria and India are very close making them both very underdeveloped and poor for their population sizes but if BRICS accepts India with 1,6 billion people and yet with an economy smaller than Japan with 90 million people they certainly can accept Nigeria with a population of 220 million whose economy is smaller than South Africa which has a population of only 60 million people including 1 million Nigerians.

Nigeria, if permitted membership, would be a net beneficiary of joining BRICS, there’s no single asset that Nigeria brings that another BRICS member doesn’t already have in abundance and can help Nigeria to develop her own asset.
Said another way, Nigeria stands to gain more from association than BRICS gains from Nigeria’ location on the West African coast, which is the only benefit Nigeria offers, and Ivory Coast or Senegal can rival this benefit.
Nigeria should apply for membership because it would benefit Nigeria and its people/economy, not the other way around.

  • @user-bt3iz7vi7q

Nigeria should be humble and happy that BRICS will accept you rather than BRICS should be happy to have Nigeria. Yes Nigeria is full of natural resources but Nigeria is in no man land and the worst thing about Nigeria is deep corruption. The main resources that Nigeria has is oil but within 10 years, renewal energy can replace most of our needs so make oil less important, just look at many rich oil nations in Middle East are looking for ways to make revenue. If you think the West is the solution for Nigeria with IMF, World bank, mobile oil, Cheron…..etc then is Nigeria any better within the last 50 years? God bless Nigeria.🙏🙏✌️❤️

You must be very naive! Why do you think the West allows Africa to have those organisations you cited? Because they are better to use to control several Heads of States or Countries at once! Let's take the case of Israel coming to AU meetings as an observer. Do you seriously believe the idea came from an African country? Which African country would have suggested inviting only this Asian country, and why, when most were against it? It is very likely forced on the AU by The USA or The EU or both! and Africans had no idea they were there until South Africa and Algeria could no more stomach it! Fact is, that Africa is weak and we need powerful friends. Russia, China and India are just right for us as they are powerful and have gone through similar experiences that we are going through.

The way your comment is mixed up just shows the type of person you are! You just wanted to let off one of your 'Western stereotypes' about Africa, Ukraine is as corrupt or worse than some countries over here, does that stop you from shipping hundreds of billions to them? Corruption is something which has grown in many African countries because at independence (which in reality never was) the colonials put in place people to control those countries to safeguard their access to resources and not because of how competent or suitable they were.(the idea of country was still strange to many Africans then) Of course these incompetents got their cronies in and over time the corruption system took its roots. You don't expect that to go away at the touch of a button! It will be a fight that will last generations, but still the society has to be built!

What nonsense are you trying to propagandize? Nigeria, the rottening giant of Africa or what. Look, one of the problems of Nigeria is the embedded culture of psycho-pathological self over-estimation. Nigerians by virtue of our culture are hardworkers both academically and physically. Yesthey be at the top of class or very competitive wherever, they ver assertive to the point of acceptability and can be secretary general. But we lack education for academics does not correlate with classroom academics.
Kagame, Mesuveni, Ibrahim Traore: none thes have a PHD but see their performance. Nigeria with so many Masters and doctorates is rotten to the core. Please talk something different and you people must desist these pompous characterisations----giant of Africa, etc.

It’s best to wait and see who has a better partnership. Not all that glitters is gold. All Nigeria needs is fair trade practice all across the globe. There is a pushback coming and Nigeria should not be on any side of the pushback. It’s a waiting game. Hopefully we can circle back to this video and see how it pans out.
