- So Apple's released a bunch of new USB-C cables. BUT here's the kicker, you're not going to get the most out of your new iPhone 15 Pro with the included cables. In fact, all the Apple USB-C cables that you can buy at the Apple store...won't help out...
If you need a cable right now, get this one (Amazon link): mreh.ca/453NqnZ

I did do the tests on the iPhone 15 Pro Max but I'm not sure about. Using the same data transfer files, the iPhone 15's Pro Max time for the 5.5 GB file was on average (3 runs) around 185 seconds and the ~1200 for the 38 GB file. I would imagine they would be same but I'll try again after my iPHone 15 Pro Max has been on for a few days (might be an indexing issue?)

I just hope we keep this same energy for all smartphones from different companies capable of fast data transfers.
Well... if they are $1000 plus products, sure
this is an apple focused channel, you’re only gonna get it for apple
@@xpusostomos Even Samsung does it. Most charging cables are only 2.0 speeds since charging bricks don't require 3.0 speeds and it's cheaper.
@@crelliseng I've noticed that Samsung cables seem like crap... even for charging.
@@xpusostomos What’s even more egregious/interesting about Samsung is they put a usb 3.0 speed port on the usb micro s5. Then from the s6 to the s21 it went back to 2.0 speeds with their usb C port. Then with the s22 they added 5Gbps USB 3 speeds. For how much people care about specs on Samsung phones I’m surprised that managed to go under the radar for so long.
Unfortunately, I think this is pretty standard for most companies. Even when the phone supports a high transfer speed, the cables include with it are often 2.0 speeds, even if the charge speed is faster.
It’s because even with the pro phone I would say at least 50% of users have no desire to even use those high trans speeds and they’re probably just average Joe’s who charge their phone like a normal person so the box cable is gonna be just good enough for everyone, except for those people that want the high-speed and ultra fast charging. The people that want it will gladly pay for the higher end cables, and that’s how Apple makes their money and why they’re one of the wealthiest companies in the world.
@@BaxterretxaBI agree. They exploit the ignorance of the masses so that they can cut cost, while also profiting from those who want to get the more capable stuff. It's a really good strategy really.
Exactly, this practice is the industry standard.
@@mr.j5112So, Apple really did join the dark side, then.
Man these comments, did u guys ever seen any android with USB 3.0 port like Pixel or S Series come included with USB 3.0 cable?
All of them come with USB 2.0 cable because it's thinner, more flexible and only for charging
That dog is so sweet. The way he just sits there patiently and looks at you so lovingly.❤
I literally came to make the exact same comment. I think I'm in love with that dog :)
Thanks for replying to me, now I get to see that sweet dog again. That is one of the sweetest little animals I’ve ever seen.
Your content is just excellent. I don’t even have any intention to buy a 15, but you’re so thorough and fun to listen to I have to watch
Loving the constant content!! Just wanted to mention something though, At the end you mentioned that the thunderbolt cables that’s “$10 more” while the price is correct.
That cable is a TB2 cable and WILL NOT work with USB-C and is an older connection standard seen on older macbooks/imacs. The high data rate cable would be a TB4 (or 3) which averages from $75-$150 depending on the length! :)
Yes, if you’re getting the pro versions of the iPhones, they should have the faster cable
None of the phones android or Apple come with faster cable
@@sammyjammy6647exactly, any charging cable included is USB-2, USB-3 cables are usually shorter, a decent TB 4 cable is 25-30$ for 0.7m
The cables that came with my Google Pixel 7 Pro or Samsung Galaxy Fold 5 are USB 2.0 Data, even though they are USB-C and PD rated for at least 45w. Hardly seems like a scandal, aside from companies not labeling their USB-C cables in an obvious way to state their capabilities.
Can't wait until you find out how many USB-C cables don't support DisplayPort Video, or if they do only offer it at a lower resolution.
Hehe nah that’s not professional! 😂 but really though 😓😒 apple knows it’s wrong they know they just want you buy one lol
@@sammyjammy6647doesn’t mean Apple shouldn’t. Samsung and competitors should too if they want to get ahead of the competition
Most people will never use their USB-C cable to transfer data and the boxes do specify "charging" so I don't have a huge problem with it. The real blunder in my opinion is Apple not selling a USB 3.2 USB-C cable on their website, which leads less-informed customers to think they need that Thunderbolt cable when it offers no benefit at all for an iPhone 15.
but that cable supports the whole standard
Of course it is called Apple deception
BUT its more universam for moving files through their M1 macs so 2 birds one cable
I really hope you can test different usb c accessories that aren’t MFI to see how well they work. Like a backbone controller among other things.
What should I do for car charging/car play? My vehicle only has usb ports. Would it be best to get a usb to usbc cable or a usb car charger or one of those little pieces that you plug in a usbc to be a usb? Any recommendations? Thanks!
What kind of stand are you using for your iPad.. I need one lol
Apple cut so much corners..no charger, no usb3 cable, no leather case, no earbuds 😂
The faster speed cables are great but they are really thick and stiff in my experience. I wouldn’t want to use it for charging. I just wish it was a longer braided cable that was included in the box.
what was the name of the that tester you used and where did you get it from thanks....
Yes, the pro phones should include the „pro“ cable. Also they preach how important environment is to them and taking the steps needed to reduce the footprint of Apple products, but then they do not include the faster cable to use their new feature in their phones and make consumers buy an extra cable. So now the included cable gets stored somewhere in a drawer bcs will not be used
wow i just got the 15 pro max yesterday, does this that my phone wont fast charge? do i need usb c 3.0 to fast charge my phone? thanks for the video!
Can you use the new apple cord for carplay?
Should I keep my 20w wall adapter or get a higher Watt wall adapter like the 30w one for when I get my 15 pro max? Also going to get the 2m 240w charging cable
Hi! Will the Ugreen Dac Model Usbc to 3.5mm jack will work on iPhone 15 ProMax?
So what speeds was the transfer using the thunderbolt cable?
Would never have known if it wasn't for your video! Thank you!
What 10 foot cable would you recommend?
Nice, informative video.
Please do one about the best cable/charger to use for battery/phone health. For me that’s the #1 thing I care about. That’s why I try to use only Apple gear or premium brands, is it worth it?
I believe it wasn't necessary for the cable to be included in the box as it's not the standard practice. However, it would have been a thoughtful addition. At the very least, they should offer a small grey or black cable with USB 3.0 to distinguish it from the white USB 2.0 and Thunderbolt.
Is there a longer version of the mophie cable?
How did the JSAUX USB C to USB C Cable 100W/5A do? I see the 6 foot red and black braided in your pile.
so which one is the best for charging?
I got the 15 pro. But need a USB 2 to USB C for my stereo… there shouldn’t be any issues??? Correct?
REALLY good test!
Your AMAZON link do not work in europe. Do you have the ASIN for recommended mophie charging cable 1m USB-C as well?
Unpopular opinion but if my theory is correct then its a smart business move on their part. My theory is that the number of people who actually use the iPhone to its full potential and really need those fast data transfer rates is probably a very small amount. While it might only cost them a few cents to dollars per cable more in the overall cost it ads up if they include the higher rate cable so if they think most users won't even need it and the small few that do typically will have third party accessories anyway then they opt to save the money. But I could be wrong. just my guess.
Many thanks for this informative video 👍 your vide are always brilliant
Damn you have the best content buddy. Love the channel 😎
What was that thick orange cable?
My boy out here grinding out content for us. Appreciate it man
That's actually fine with me cause I'm on the fence from switching from my S23+ lol
Put a link on the cable tester, better if it sells in Canada
Yes the faster cable should be included else it is just adding more cables to more landfills. Supposedly something Apple is against. Your dog is just adorable. He seemed to be taking in every single technical detail…lol.
What’s the best cheap usb c (3.0) cable
To be fair, Apple does label it a “Charge cable” everywhere, which to any “pro” user who would want USB 3 Data transfer speeds, should instantly alert them to the fact that they are not USB 3 speeds. “Pro” users who actually need USB 3 speeds would also already own USB 3 cables. So if anything, including a Charge cable in the box is fairly reasonable. I’d also wager that for people who buy the Pro models just cos it’s the best/most expensive are almost universally not going to notice or know the difference.
awesome my friend !! thanks
I mean its labeled and sold as a CHARGE cable. Theres a huge difference and maybe apple sacrificed a little bandwidth to provide faster charging. Not many users will ever use that port to transfer data.
Yes they should have said. They also should label their charging cords vs data transfer cords so we know not to buy the charger one if data transfer is important to us.
it literally says "charge cable" on the box. And it has been like this for YEARS now, the USB-C MacBooks also came with USB-C 2.0 cables.
@@PvtAnonymous yes but the USB 3 cable does not state that it’s really the one you need for data if you want to actually use the phone’s capabilities.
It’s the ones with a lightning bolt on them for data
Wifi 6 is double the speed of USB 3 and there are no cables so why Not just use Wifi 6? 🤷♀
@@kalijasin agree completely
Are the cables included with a Samsung Galaxy S23/S23+ USB-C 3.0 cables or are they just charging cables with USB 2.0 speeds?
Great video. FYI... you amazon link is not going to the Mophie cable you describe. It's just going to a Amazon page that lists a lot of cables. Thought you may be unaware. Again, great video!
Are the apple ones different then old ones or have they just decided to advertise their existing wattage?
Such good information! Thank you!!!
where is this labeled cable? can’t seem to find it
Thanks for the video. Have you tried sync’ing your 15 pro with a Mac or PC? I’m getting dismal results with a 10Gbps cable. In system information it is recognized as 10Gbps but really not much difference as my 13 pro in syncing (backing up, syncing photos).
Syncing as in with iTunes? I would say that is a software issue. Havent used iTunes in ages but as far as I remember, it was never a pleasant experience, nor a fast one.
I sync using finder on a Mac, iTunes on windows, I even use third party imazing software. None feel any faster w USBC. I’m thinking as a USB host the transfer is fast but the other way around not so fast.
how did it turn out? ive read & watched a lot on this issue since buying iphone 15 but thinking about trading for 15 pro (or a 13). It seems the internal SSD in found in ALL iphone models, wont allow much past 60Mb/s (40 for base 15).
I’m trying to confirm if 15 pro can get much closer to USB3.2 Gen2 10Gb/s speeds b4 i decide.
Running out of time...may just just get the 13 and see if the 16 is "the one".
Am I safe to use whatever usbc charger? Or do I still only want to use first party ones?
Am i looking for 3.0 Gen 1 cables? Not sure which are the fastest now
During the Apple Event it said the Cable would be Optional.
Yes its a sad and poor option made by Apple not to include the Cable with the Pro Models but they did during the event put the disclaimer on the screen.
Been looking for a while and can’t find any specs on how fast the port is on the Samsung s23 ultra, but every forum post that i’ve read say it tests at usb2, even with 3.x+ cables…
Link not working…
Great & interesting review. Just bought the C2C caberQU too.
Hey, what about a good brick for the wall. I only have the old 20watt one that was suggested from able acouple years ago. Anyone know some of the best bricks out there? Not super worried about the price, just something that looks somewhat nice and that will be able to utilize the speed of the Mophie 3.1 USB-C Cable and allow it to do what it was meant to!
Anyone have any good options?
Can you charge the iphone 15 with a usbc 3 cable and a variety of powerbricks from 0-100 to see if you can charge the new iphone faster when using a usbc 3 cable and good charging brick.
I wish you would do a review of cables offered at Amazon and Walmart as well
I like the IPad stand what’s it called ?
I can not find that morphine cable anywhere on Amazon even with the link.
my new iPhone 15 pro max charging cable doesn’t allow my car to mirror my phone using the charging cable ( I have to use a usb adapter on one end to plus into my car) Does that mean I need to get this the cable in the description as in a data cable with a usb adapter. Never had this problem with my old iPhone I could just plug the usb bit into the car and the other end into my phone and it would mirror it. Need help please
I expected all USB-C cables to be 3.0 or higher, but manufacturers, being cheap as usual, use 2.0 or only power, which is annoying when you need a USB-C cable for data transfer. Also, it would be nice to have a way to test the claims of the different wattages.
I love how flexible and slim the apple cable is tho. I want something like that
Does it crack?
is it safe to charge my iphone 15 with a pixel usb c cable?
I'm pretty okay with it, USB 3.1 2x2 Gen 2 or whatever it is called, as well as Thunderbolt cables, are quite a bit larger and less flexible. They use a lot more copper too. For a feature that probably 1% of iPhone users will use, I think that's a pretty solid trade off. I think the bigger problem is that Apple doesn't have anything between these charging cables and their Thunderbolt cables.
It’s even worse than you said! You accidentally showed the older Thunderbolt cable Apple sells, which is a mere $39.00 USD. The 1m Thunderbolt 4/USB-C cable that Apple sells is *$69.00* USD. Ridiculous!!
On the Pro version yes. They should of provided a cable that exploits the functionality of the phone. The issue with USB-C connector is the wide variety of cables. I tend to get rid of USB 2 cables to simplify things. For me giving me a USB 2 cable is junk. To give me less I would of rather they gave me a power only cable to charge on unknown usb charge outlets.
So thorough. Clicking all your links
Informative and entertaining :p
Your link to the Mophie Cable did not work as intended.
Although I agree it would be *nice* if Apple included USB 3 cables, how often do you actually transfer data off of your phone via USB? I’ve had both Apple and Samsung flagships for work for the last decade and the only time I ever used USB was to root or jailbreak them. All my photos and videos are cloud synced before I even get home. The number of people that have a use case for USB3.2 is just so small, and the fraction of those that don’t already have a USB 3.2 cable must be in the hundreds lol so I really don’t think it’s *necessary*
Yes but the carbon footprint in making a usb3 and a usb2 is about the same so just to get more profit apple is doing this
Idk why I’m trying to order cable with your link but it’s just taking me to Amazon without the product 😢 is it me or the link help need that cable 😂😂
I ordered the iPhone 15 Pro Max should I return it because I heard it breaks easily and it overheats easily and should I get AppleCare because I didn’t get AppleCare for it I usually do but my phones have never broke so I don’t know what should I do
My only question is, should the type C to C cables be MFi certified, or was that just for the Lightning cables?
I have same question🤔
Lmao thanks for the videos, just hilarious to watch while learning something new too.
the in depth review we all want to watch. byebye unboxT and mkbh!
I appreciate the swiftness
I just found your videos and let me tell you, “Thank you, thank you, thank you!”
🙌🏼😭😭😭
Because how else am I gonna know what’s garbage and what’s not?
The link doesn’t lead to the mophie cable btw. I just got the Apple one but might return it to get the mophie one lol
thank for contribution consumer needed knowledge! 🙏🏽
if they are labeled as a charging cable, I don’t expect fast transfer speeds
Exactly. Not sure why he’s bummed over data. It’s for power
Then you have low standards.
I'm okay with that. But they should label the cables as being USB 2.0.
I just checked, Apple does mention this on their website.
@@SanderEvers They do. It's part of the main description of the cables "It supports charging of up to 240 watts and transfers data at USB 2 rates."
Mophie USB-C Charging Cable iPhone 15 link doesnt work for me!
amazing video!!! you’re so talented!!
does it matter what port i should buy?>
Off course most people use just for charge I get it,but it would be nice if the include in iPhone 14 pro and pro max.
Good catch
they’re charging cables - thinner I guess so easier to handle/more compact? If you need higher speeds you’d buy a data cable (which apple doesn’t seem to sell yet)
what about computers that dont have a usb c port and can you use a adapter?
Good point!
Can u test with the thunderbolt 4
Does USB-C 3.1 make charging any faster? Or does it only help with data? Thank you, and Monty, for all the great reviews!
Just data transfer. The pins for charging are the same either way.
Thank you@@nuvotion-live!!
The dog kept my attention 😂
its wild. and no other phone company ships with a usb3 either. probably because most folks never plug in for data transfers and that would be a waste of material and money. it would be nice if there was an option for $10 more than the phone to get a better one when buying a new phone.
Well said 👌🏽
Great video!
so the thunderbolt cable he referenced is an older displayport thunderbolt cable the cheapest cable is the thunderbolt 4 cable and even right now as i do a data transfer from my laptop it's not going very fast..
Noob question from a 15 pro user:
From a longevity of battery health perspective, can I use any PD3, GaN, 30w charger as long as it is from a known brand or should I have to use Apple’s chargers only?
It actually makes a lot of sense that they would supply a USB 2.0 cable in the box. USB 3.x cables are significantly thicker and more unwieldy than 2.0 and therefore aren’t as good for travel / day to day use.
I really appreciate your content. Yes, it would be nice if they included USB 3 cables, but most people are only going to use them to charge their phone, so the extra expense would be lost on the vast majority of customers. Anyone that needs high speed data transfer via wires already knows and probably owns USB 3 cables.
This may be true but if your buying the Pro Model you should get the pro cable.
As it is they already give the excuse that they do not include charge Bricks.
As Well as no Longer including Headphones.
Apple is cutting Back more and more on its end to save on cost but in turn its making E-waste by making people buy Addition cables they may not have if they need them to obtain the speeds the phone can offer.
most people don't want usb 3 cables. they are thicker, more stiff, and generally shorter than charging cables.
@@kirikotoneyes most of the people are stupid so let's give them usb 1.0 cable then
Not so much about whether it will be used by the common people but more about if you’re buying the best iPhone model in the line up, you should be expected to get the premium version of the cable. Apple just trying to get people to buy more products from them. Very sneaky.
The cable provided with the phone is marketed as a “USB-C charging cable” so I do not feel tricked by Apple about this
Actually it says on apples website the 29$ 2m one is also usb 2.0. You have to get the thunderbolt 4 cable for 3.0
Arent all included cables in any phone USB 2.0? The cost would def add up if they were anything better.
