That's it. It worked great right out of the box and the native OS works great for my needs.
I use it as microserver for family pictures at home and it does just what I need.
The downside is this might not be powerful for a full multi-TV dlna streaming or hosting. The performance starts to degrade once we have 3 users connecting to the board.
Windows runs on it just fine, but unless you absolutely need windows for some reason, I see no reason to use it. It would be a waste of performance as per usual.
It has a wide range of software support but that software is ARM specific.

On the positive side if one does not to add the 'cling-on' accessories then this is a very well built, smaller size all-in-one device. It is expandable, however, then it becomes bulky and a need for an add-on case of some type.

It seems like a great feature having the ability to add a pci board to the side of the unit. However, there is no support and secure way to plug the board in.
This mini pc is surprisingly fast and well made, and even has some room for upgrades internally including m.2 storage. I'm considering purchasing another to use as a NAS.

you're looking to build a home network, personal cloud, or media server, the ZimaBoard 216 is definitely worth considering.
This was during a heat wave with 100°F (~38°C) daytime temps. Once the CPU nears 50°C it throttles down, keeping temps in check, and without much performance hit in my case. Turns out, the ZimaBoard is as rugged as it looks, and the passive heatsink does its job, even in the heat.

The ZimaBoard handles my NAS setup flawlessly. Highly recommend it for home storage solutions
love how user-friendly Zimaboard is. Even if you're not tech-savvy, the interface is intuitive and easy to navigate, allowing you to focus more on your creative process rather than figuring out how to use the tool
Setting up the Zimbaboard was straightforward, even for someone with limited tech knowledge
Looks affordable, not like you need to spend a thousand bucks to get Started
Transforming the way you browse and enjoy your personal media library
It’s doing such a great job. Super easy to use and all around great. This replaced my raspberry pi 4. User friendly and interface is nice when logging into the device.
ZimaBoard offers excellent expandability with its multiple ports and interfaces
The ZimaBoard offers excellent value for its features and capabilities
I turned this into an 8tb storage server that is now running 3 vm's and 4 containers and is an absolute beast on my tiny home network.
If you experience the same behavior, you most likely have a faulty board and should ask for a replacement.
Works great to connect my old hard drives to the network and use them to backup data.
ZimaBoard has completely transformed my creative process. Its versatility and powerful features allow me to experiment and innovate like never before. Highly recommended for any creative professional!
It may be compatible with a wide range of operating systems and software
The benefits of being able to customize the ZimaBoard to your requirements offset the slower CPU.
Other than that it is a decent mini PC, great for web browsing, office work and general business use
The ZimaBoard's performance is incredible for its size. Perfect for my home lab projects 💯
The ZimaBoard’s compact size makes it incredibly versatile
I dont care for linux all that much so im gonna try installing windows are some point, Which you can because its a intel x86 processor and not a ARM like all the various pi's
It's also got a SATA power port which is nice for easy hard drive connection. Mini display port was an odd choice but it works well with an adapter.
In its 2 core 2GB memory 16GB MMC version (zimaboard 216) this device has the equivalent performance a little over half a Pi4B
Perfect for small-scale server projects.
Great value for the price. Does exactly what I need.
I have three Macs running on my desk, but I have one program that will only run on a pc. This little guy fills the bill. Not super fast, but does the job. Can't beat the price!
I’m already really impressed by what it’s capable of, being such a small item and literally only needing an Ethernet cable and power to get started.
I might also try making it into a nas device as well.
Great quality and fun to mess around in.
very useful small computer
Intel platform with good compatibility with any Linux based OS
Ideal for hobbyists and professionals alike the ZimaBoard is top notch👍👍
Great community support and resources for ZimaBoard users 😊
Ultimately I want a nice at home network with storage and backups in case of catastrophic failure and possibly media sharing and this little server board is a good place to start for cobbling and tinkering
Overall I love the quality of this board. I think it is a bit pricier than other things that you can build like the raspberry pi but it is more reliable. It has yet to burn out on me and has done well in terms of speed.
it was relatively straightforward to setup and get going. Whether you're a beginner or an expert, this works great.
Extremely easy to set up
I've learned a lot though and feel like I could install it again very quickly, so it's mostly me and my skill level.
Need to just look up service manuals, watch training videos, or other really basic stuff, this is your machine.
Zimaboard Media Server offers customization options and robust control features, allowing users to tailor their media server experience according to their preferences and needs
It supports scalable deployment options, allowing users to expand their media server capabilities as needed. This flexibility is advantageous for growing media collections or varying user demands
Agree 👍💯
I like it's features... Amazing product 😍
I've tried many boards, but this one stands out for its flexibility and power.
It is not too hard to setup and the design on it is great so far.
It's a pretty impressive device. One of the features that really stood out to me was its ability to run pfsense, which is a popular open-source firewall and router software.
I love the compact design of the Zimbaboard; it fits perfectly in my small media cabinet 😊
Would love to get my team access through my files with that solution
Affordable and offers great performance.
Zima Board 832's compatibility with Docker would be interesting to explore
Have you seen any benchmarks for the Zima Board?
I bought this to use with another OS to create my own home firewall and route all traffic through a VPN. Installing a different operating system was easy and the hardware seems more than capable of working great as a firewall.
The robust community support for ZimaBoard enhances its value significantly
This looks awesome.im gonna order one soon 😮
We get fast reading and writing experience just like your local hard disk when connected via gigabit network.
It sets up and works very well. I am a little leary about what might be going on in the background so if you get this just use it with caution and know that it could be harvesting data.
The ZimaBoard hardware is really nice.
It loads software very easily, I loved it .
yess their is very easy and easy to use and works very well highly recommended to everyone
Great for creating a personal cloud storage.
Amazing product it is.... How hackable zimaboards's, making it ideal... Its very good
Agreed 💯 it's really amazing.. I am impressed with this product...
Integrated PCIe x4, SATA 6.0Gb/s and Dual Gigabit Ethernet - Fully customizable and expandable with integrated interfaces, the PCIe x4 interface meets a variety of user need
Work good
I like this one for firewall . If there was a model without the PCI port, sata , etc just for this would be much nicer even. The design with the dissipator on top is pretty neat.i like that too
Nice, would it possible to put pfsense on this?
It starts to get closer in price to some integrated solutions that come with better NICs. Too bad!
@AbbeyBacon yes it is possible 💕
Good build quality. Feels sturdy and durable
The design is sleek and fits nicely into my setup.
The main thing that I was looking for was a power efficient gadget to run Home Assistant on, and it does a pretty good job of this.
The user interface on the Zimbaboard is intuitive and user-friendly
this is really a good for home assistant
It's got multiple ports shown in my pictures, but what really sets it apart is the PCIe slot. It's an open ended 4x slot thats a 2.0 slot.
I am very much sure that this flexibility is what ZimaBoard considers hardware hacking, even though you don’t really need to modify the board itself, you just add any new piece as you would with a puzzle
This works great for my home media server needs. I hooked up an external drive and connected it to my network via LAN cable and voila! That's it.
I liked it so much, I bought a 2nd one directly from Zimaboard's site and it was MUCH cheaper!
The ZimaBoard's expandability is fantastic for my evolving projects
Its adaptability has breathed new life into my tech projects
Design wise the case is the heatsink which makes it look nicer than SBCs with plastic cases. The use of a mini displayport is a strange choice, while its rare you may need to connect this to a monitor it’ll be an extra cable or adapter you’d need.
I really like this product 😍 🥰 it's awesome... with a wealth of PCIe accessories available on the market, you can easily extend your ZimaBoard configuration with 2.5Gbe, NVMe NGFF SSD, WIFI dongle, XMOS/DAC module, and many more
i am also very stastified with this product and i liked it
It's a amazing product
Reliable for multiple projects and applications.
Zima Board's price point seems reasonable for its specs 😇💸
Totally reasonable price 😃
Agree with your comment 👍
Superb build quality and reliability the ZimaBoard is a solid choice 💯
The dual Ethernet ports on the ZimaBoard are a game changer for network intensive applications
The ZimaBoard is a fantastic tool for tech experiments
Really pleased with the quality. Bought it for my wife to play Roblox and Sims. Ran good out of the box. I put in 32gb of RAM since it's not very expensive.
I use my 832 for software defined radio The small size fits perfectly in small water proof boxes,so i can use it outside
I load-tested 2 of them running Windows 2019 with 400 users hitting the Zimaboard simulating logins and they didn't break a sweat, CPU usage hovered around 30% on the primary and 22% on the second
This is unique and greatly opens up the possibilities of what you can connect to it right out of the box! From wireless to graphics cards to hard drives, the expansion cards that fit there are endless!
It's really easy to set up. This server is efficient and does not heat up. Ideal for a plex server, NAS etc...
Great choice for a home server
simply plug into one of your router ethernet slot and access it thru local IP
Easy-to-use UI system ⋅ Wide range of interfaces and expandability ⋅ Solid build ⋅
Overall the extra expansion features make this a great platform may it be for a NAS or adding home automation hub support, a very unique SBC that delivers impressive performance.
Agree with your comment 😊
Very good bang for the buck and am very happy with it, even though i did end up getting rid of the stock operating system in favor of pure debian.
Documentation is clear and helpful for setup.
The ZimaBoard and Raspberry Pi both offer impressive features for various projects in both the hobbyist and commercial spaces, They cater to different needs however, for example projects that require direct expansion support for SATA, M.2, NVME, Ethernet, and other PCI Express based expansions
The ZimaBoard offers more processing power and RAM when compared to most other SBC's however that comes at a price point that may cause potential buyers to be cautious or lean toward a basic ATX PC build. Nevertheless, it is better suited for resource-intensive tasks as opposed to most SBC's.
If that last sentence was exciting, this may be perfect for you! But if you're not familiar with Docker or basic server administration, this probably isn't right for you yet
This is a really neat and powerful system, with more connectivity options than I would have thought possible at this size and price point
The ZimaBoard Single Board Server is an extremely versatile board. It comes with very affordable price tag and their design is really looks so cool.
I’m already really impressed by what it’s capable of.
It is expandable, however, then it becomes bulky and a need for an add-on case of some type.
We get two Gigabit Ethernet ports, two USB 3.0 ports, a mini-displayport video output (not sure why), and two SATA3 ports with a single power drop for those drives.
My Zimaboard is running pfsense and has been running well for a while now
It Handles heavy workloads without any issues
Its impressive performance, the device remained cool and quiet, thanks to its efficient design.you're looking to build a home network, personal cloud, or media server, the ZimaBoard 216 is definitely worth considering.
Very powerful device, beats my raspberry pi.
Fantastic home server solution
Impressive performance for a small device.
I've been able to expand the storage on my Zimbaboard 832 easily
I appreciate the ability to customize the software to suit my needs, making it a highly flexible
It's also got a SATA power port which is nice for easy hard drive connection. Mini display port was an odd choice but it works well with an adapter.
This is quite clearly designed for those that are familiar with Linux (or want to learn about Linux). Having such a fully self-contained system with which to experiment is very nice.
The cloud nature of this device exposes what I think is Zimaboard's biggest flaw. There isn't a way to upgrade the ram. As soon as I figured out what CasaOS could do, I wanted to run a lot more cloud applications
I'm curious about the thermal management solutions on Zima Board
This makes it a strong choice for users who require more traditional desktop applications or want to experiment with different operating systems beyond the typical ARM based operating systems like Raspbian and Android.
It also has a nice shell case with it so I do not have to worry about it breaking.
it was relatively straightforward to setup and get going. Whether you're a beginner or an expert, this works great.
Yes you are right 👍
If you have an eye for design like me you have to love this device
I wonder how the Zima Board compares in terms of power efficiency 💪💞
Zima Board's power supply requirements are worth considering
Zima Board's power efficiency makes it suitable for remote deployments
Zima Board's power management features could extend battery life significantly
This miniature server offers the power of a small server and comes in a form factor not much larger than the Raspberry Pi, making it a great choice for engineers and makers alike.
It also has a nice shell case with it so I do not have to worry about it breaking.
FANTASTIC DEVICE! But maybe not for everyone
It seems like the ZimaBoard would be comparable to the Raspberry Pi 4, but as much as I love the RasPi and the company's mission, the ZimaBoard is really in a different league
The X86 board is also open for any other types of applications, including running OpenWRT, pfSense or just plain Linux and you can use the built-in 32GB eMMC or, if you want thing to run faster and better, rely on external SSDs.
The board is designed with power efficiency in mind, utilizing low-power components without compromising on performance
Setting up the ZimaBoard 832 was straightforward
Power consumption on the ZimaBoard 832 is minimal, making it an energy-efficient choice for a home server
The device's ability to run Plex smoothly has transformed my media consumption
The Zima Board Server x86 hardware router works well. The Intel Celeron N3450 Quad Core processor runs between 1.1GHz to 2.2GHz. I use it as microserver for family pictures at home and it does just what I need.
It handles all tasks smoothly 😄
The expandability is incredible right out of the box. plug in and GO! If you are looking for a server solution for setting up a home NAS, Plex server, pi-hole, etc. This is the answer! Hats off to the Zima board, I am very impressed!
High quality, I'm glad I had a monitor with an HDMI port. I may buy another one for another room.
I love how hackable ZimaBoard is, making it ideal for customizing server setups 🤩
Great performance in a compact form factor, highly recommend the ZimaBoard."
For the price, the ZimaBoard offers unbeatable performance and features
I've had no issues with the Zimbaboard overheating, even after hours of continuous use
Simply plug into one of your router ethernet slot and access it thru local IP
you can achieve everything thru the UI, basically install and uninstall, run commands.
I liked it so much, I bought a 2nd one directly from Zimaboard's site and it was MUCH cheaper! I got the board, a SATA Y cable, brackets for two 2.5 drives, and a really nice mini DP to 4k 60hz HDMI adapter for less than I got just the board from Amazon
In this area, Zima has the clear advantage over most single board computers (SBC's) as they would need to utility the USB bus for these features creating a bottleneck
The Zimbaboard supports a wide range of media formats, making it very versatile 👍
This is a really very good gadget i loved it
I can't find a way to message the shipper but this was sent in an unsealed box. The label put on the outside but not taped. I am grateful it arrived safely but anyone could have just opened it and took anything out of the box.
I'll be using mine to host my DVR, but I think I'll get something more capable if I want to run more cloud apps.
