OMG you look amazing!!!!! I am also biracial but much lighter skinned than you are (to the point where I almost look white). I have also struggled like you with that. I've been dying to get braids or passion twists done again but I don't want to deal with the backlash. Fyi your hair is going to be dry and angry when you take them out.
My hair was actually super moisturized & not too angry! Definitely something I would do again & I'm glad I put a little leave in conditioner in it before getting braids.
