- Whether in life or on the football field, the path to success has never been straightforward or simple for Josh Allen, but he’s always had the support of his family. As an overlooked recruit from tiny Firebaugh, California, Allen went from idolizing the San Francisco 49ers to earning the devotion of Bills Mafia by leading one of this year’s most exciting NFL offenses. Hall of Fame quarterback Steve Young discusses Allen’s evolution, the similarities in their styles of play, and the importance of the bond between a quarterback and his fanbase. That bond made national headlines after week nine, when Allen turned in a dominant performance in a win over the Seahawks the day after learning his beloved grandmother had passed away. Bills fans responded by donating to the John R. Oishei Children’s Hospital in Patricia Allen’s name, raising 700 thousand dollars so far, and reinforcing that Allen will forever have a home-and a family-in Buffalo.

I lost my uncle to Covid and the biggest BILLS fan i ve known since moving from upstate New York.He took me to a game when they played in Tennessee.Mind you we never been to a home game together.To our Surprise if we were drugged we would ve swore we were in Buffalo.It was literally as if we were in BILLS heaven.We completely took over the city.We both had the time of our lives and talked about it all the way home.Thank You for giving me a memory that will last the rest of my life..And thank you BILLSMafia for helping me experience my 1st Home game with my uncle as well as my last one...We were the perfect Match.I love and miss you Uncle Donald Ray Squires R.I.P.

I love seeing Allen succeed! I still have a Bleacher Report article on Allen from 2016 while at Wyoming. It was the first time I had heard of Allen and it prompted me to do some research as a Bills fan always looking for a potential franchise QB. From then on I was smitten 🤩 and by the time the 2018 draft came around, I only had eyes for 17. When we drafted him I was surprised by how many people in Bills Mafia weren’t happy and wanted Rosen instead. Even now there’s still folks here that aren’t sold on Allen as our franchise QB and seem to relish the opportunity to argue their case whenever the guy isn’t perfect ... which is just crazy to think about at this point. He’s exceeded expectations this season and I couldn’t be more proud of him and excited for his future. FACT- Josh Allen has not yet thrown a single interception in the red zone as a professional QB. 17 is putting the Buffalo Bills back on the map and back into NFL contention. He deserves your support Bills Mafia!!!

I became a Bills fan in 1991 when my family moved to Western New York. What a time to be a Bills fan, right? Anyway, since Jim Kelly retired, like just about every other Bills fan, I have wanted to know "Who will step up and be that quarterback?" Doug Flutie was endearing and had his moments. Drew Bledsoe could have been that guy. Ryan Fitzpatrick was a gamer for us, and Tyrod will always be respected here for being the quarterback that finally ended the drought (along with Dalton of course). But every single one of those guys were free agent signings, someone to fill a position until we could draft and develop the next Jim Kelly. And let's face it, for all the great community work J.P. Losman did, he just didn't have "it." Trent Edwards wasn't right after his injury. E.J. Manuel might have had a nice career here had it not been for the coaching staff. Josh Allen, in my opinion, is the only quarterback we have drafted that can even be mentioned in the same sentence as Jim Kelly. He is the perfect embodiment of Buffalo, and I think he came to us that way. Let's be honest with ourselves here, Jim Kelly is loved but Buffalo had to grow on him. We laugh about it now, but he initially turned us down to play for Houston in the USFL. That was not the case with Josh at all. He is a Buffalo guy because his own path to greatness reflects everything we feel about ourselves: overlooked, had unjust judgments passed on us, having a narrative that we can never be better and rise above, and then showing when people are actually looking that they were wrong. Here's to many more great seasons in Buffalo, Josh Allen!

Nine years old, parents took me to Anna Maria island for my birthday. We went to a Bills bar, it was the vikings game. I watched Allen dominate, but the moment I was excited was when he hurdled one of the best linebackers in the game. I wasn’t at that game, but that was awesome, I sat there drinking a hole ton of Pepsi at that outdoor bar.
