That was a nice effort but I think that it is very important for the dowels to be evenly space apart so that some aren't clumped together and others have a larger gap between them. I would suggest drawing line across the back of the cardboard so that the dowels follow the direction of the lines. Also, you don't say if the tips of the dowel are resting on the table while the glue dries so that the dowels tip away from the wall after it is hung OR if I am supposed to hold the dowels out perpendicular to the table while the glue dries so that the dowels end up being perpendicular to the wall after it is hung. These details are very important to truly turn out a superior project.
This is so stylish! Sunburst mirrors are so expensive!

Hi Sarah, I’m in the middle of making this mirror but noticed the instructions say 16 dowels in each size but you only use 12 in the video, am I missing something?
Thank you so much!!
where did you purchase the sticks?
Could you please tell me the color of the strips on the walls I love them and what brand They look great with the gold mirror
Thanks! The colors are Ivory Lace and Parachute Silk in Behr Ulta eggshell paint.
Beautiful! Thanks so much!
I'm having a hard time with the dowels they are not sticking properly...any advice to help going crazy! ;)
Add more glue and hold to place a bit longer. That's what I would do. Hopefully that works for you. 😊
I agree with Alice! You may need to add a lot more glue and be sure to hold in place for about 30 seconds longer to make sure it's secure. If that still doesn't hold and your dowels aren't staying in place, I would try an epoxy glue like E6000.
hi sarah - can you give the paint no which appears on the bottle. i went to home depot and they did not have any.
Here's the link to the paint I used: low.es/1w20cSc. I also highly recommend using Montana Gold metallic gold spray paint.
Im making this in 18" inch mirror how many wood dowel will i use?
I would recommend using the same number of dowels in the same lengths. You can also make them each about 2-4" longer but you will need more dowels.
Hi Sarah,
I'd love to make this but the li k isn't there anymore. Where can i get the link? Your blog?
Hi Elvira, you can download the template here: bit.ly/2tJaAld
Can you please Tell me the brand and name of the spray paint you used? Thanks!
I used Valspar metallic gold spray paint, which is sold at Lowes but I also really like Montana spray paint's gold too!
Is the mirror frame wood or plastic? Thanks for the video.
+JennyJardin The mirror I used was wood but you could also use one that has a plastic frame. You just might need to use a stronger adhesive like E6000 or another epoxy glue.
