  • Ubuntu is a popular open source operating system derived from Debian built upon the Linux kernel. Ubuntu has Desktop, Server, and Core edtions. Every two years Ubuntu releases a Long Term Support (LTS) release. As of the publishing the video, the most recent release is from April 2024 (24.04).
In this video we guide you through choosing an Ubuntu "flavour", how to create a bootable USB, how to set up VirtualBox for installing, and then the installation itself from the booted ISO/USB.
The install process is essentially the same regardless of whether you are using a USB on hardware or a virtual machine.
After installing, we boot from the installed version, check for updates, and then install the VirtualBox guest additions (VirtualBox only).
