I love this cooking show because you can learn a lot from how the early American settlers harvested and cooked their food in the 18th century. They had no electricity, refridgerators and no grocery stores. The people had to do everything by hand like growing their own vegetables and raising pigs, cows and chickens for poultry and meat. this was during the American Revolution and women had to do all of the cooking and cleaning while all the men fought in the war. Most of them were farmers except for the few like Benjimin Franklin who were also farmers but well educated aristocrats.
It's a shame that young people take their food for granted and don't understand how food is processed today. All of our food still comes from the farm and sea and this show will educate people
in that process. There are not many shows such as this one that also brings the history behind the food into perspective and you will learn to appreciate and be thankful for the early settlers who worked hard to pass on the knowledge to future generations of farmers to take that knowledge and make food what it has become today.
You must understand the history of food in order to appreciate it!

Love the food in UP. PASTIES mmmm also we had them in PA too. Savory and sweet kinds. The owner of Mr Pastie was a dear man he had a store in my hometown of Stroudsburg. Then factory was in Pen Argyle. And the local grocery stories sold Mr Pastie in the frozen foods. Love certain German foods.
Mmmm Harbor Haus looks so good Ruladden
