She borrowed her 45 to the assistant organist so he could learn it and play it for her on the pipe organ.

The dating of that time was that the woman didn't going steady with one guy. She dated different guys until she got a pin which told everyone that you are now steady with guy who gave you the pin. It's like a pre engagement instead of a promise ring. Common dating practice of the 50's and 60's.
