      @@michaelf.2449 If I followed Brian's comment correctly, that was his point.
      To get more red blood cells, he needs a low oxygen environment. "Hypo" means something like "low" or "under" (think "hypodermic needle"--a needle that goes beneath the skin), while "hyper" means the opposite: "high" or "over" (think "hyperactive child"--a child whose activity is unnaturally high).
      So the athlete would want a hypobaric chamber--one with low oxygen, which would encourage the production of more red blood cells.

      @@CZcamsallowedmynametobestolen The problem here is worse than just a misspoken word, though:
      A *hypo*baric chamber would be needed to have his body produce more hemoglobin/red blood cells and would thus help with his cycling performance. However, that wouldn't help with his myasthenia gravis at all. His MG would only be positively affected by a *hyper*baric chamber.

      @@kingofhisworld1 Just like basically every medical condition it’ll affect different people differently to different extents. Depending on the person and how they manage their condition can vary how often they’re in pain.
      For me it’s mostly just extreme lethargy all the time, however when I do get pain it can vary in almost every way. Sickle Cell crisis can happen in any area of the body and is caused by our red blood cells (which are different to the norm, being more rigid and crescent moon shaped making them less effective) jamming up in the vein restricting blood flow.
      Anyway with me pain usually presents in my lower back or in the extremities, it may be localised or may be multiple areas at once. The amount of pain can vary greatly from just a more sort of “heavy discomfort dread” (if that makes any sense) to debilitating agony where breathing and existing hurts.

      It's a teaching hospital and all of his cases (minus clinic duty) are cases that no other doctor has been able to diagnose. He is a medical Sherlock Holmes with a team of Doctor Watsons. His department regularly loses the most money for the hospital each year. Plus, the costs of all of the extras on set are kind of rough on the episode budget if they really aren't needed.😂😂 Even in the clinic duty scenes, you only ever see the patients, House, Cuddy, and maybe one Nurse at a desk, and they always get a good story of some sort out of at least one patient, more than once leading it to be the main story rather than a fun little diversion. But I agree, little too few minor characters and standard Hospital Staff and Medical Personnel. In reality it is the exact opposite. Try to find a doctor in any "real hospital". They are a minority of people in a hospital. There are any number of Lab Techs, Nurses (both RN and LPN) PA's, CNAs, and a couple dozen other jobs in the hospital, for each Doctor.

      yes, it's better than the ones who pay no attention to you, or love you but can't do anything for you, or are not as interested in medicine and the science problem solving as they should be.

    Some medical expert explain how the heck red blood cell injections are supposed to help fitness or strength or whatever you need to be an elite athlete?

    • @jdrdoom3705
      @jdrdoom3705 Před rokem +6

      More Blood = More Oxygen transport to muscles = less anaerobic energy consumption in the muscles = less (immiediete) fatigue/ more fatigue regeneration
      In regions with mountains its common that athletes spend some time in high places, as the low oxygen altitude forces the body to create more blood.
      As soon as the athletes get to normal altitudes however those new bloodcells will die after some time.
      Im no Expert, but its common knowledge in sports resorts and the general area which i frequently visited.
