  • Wilco will be inducted into the Austin City Limits Hall of Fame on October 28, 2021.
In their over two-plus decades as a band, Wilco has won multiple Grammy Awards, released 11 studio albums, as well as a trio of acclaimed albums with Billy Bragg penning music to lyrics by Woody Guthrie. Led, as always by singer/songwriter Jeff Tweedy, the influential Chicago band have founded their own record label (dBpm Records) and festival (Solid Sound). Wilco continue to be regarded as a live powerhouse, as described by NPR, “To see Wilco on stage is to hear the best of the best.” Rolling Stone hails their most recent album, Ode to Joy, “Their best in years, a beautiful exercise in downhearted uplift,” while New York Magazine raved “[Ode to Joy] is Wilco’s best album in over a decade, and solid proof there’s room for bands to grow even when they’re already ten albums in.” Wilco has appeared on the ACL stage four times, in 2000, 2005, 2007 and 2012.
    About Austin City Limits
Austin City Limits (ACL) offers viewers unparalleled access to featured acts in an intimate setting that provides a platform for artists to deliver inspired, memorable, full-length performances. Now in its 47th Season, the program is taped live before a concert audience from The Moody Theater in downtown Austin. Austin City Limits is the longest-running music series in television history and remains the only TV series to ever be awarded the National Medal of Arts. Since its inception, the groundbreaking music series has become an institution that’s helped secure Austin’s reputation as the Live Music Capital of the World. The historic KLRU Studio 6A, home to 36 years of ACL concerts, has been designated an official Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Landmark. In 2011, ACL moved to the new venue ACL Live at The Moody Theater in downtown Austin. ACL received a rare institutional Peabody Award for excellence and outstanding achievement in 2012.
Austin City Limits is produced by Austin PBS, KLRU-TV and funding is provided in part by Dell Technologies, Workrise, the Austin Convention Center Department and Cirrus Logic. Additional funding is provided by the Friends of Austin City Limits. Learn more about Austin City Limits, programming and history at acltv.com.

I remember I used to casually watch ACL back when I was a kid and then one day I caught Wilco's season 30th performance. It was definitely one of the most important music moments of my life. I remember not even knowing who wilco were at the time and getting my mind blow in such a way, just being overcome with an overwhelming amount of feelings and a need to try and create things and experiences that could move and connect with people as much as that performance did me.

Wilco is my favorite band, and ACL was my very first exposure to them. Playing "At Least That's What You Said", when the drums came in and the guitar distorts, blew my mind and I've been hooked since.

Yes, love Wilco for their approach to making music. I love the softer side as well as their rocking side with a huge sprinkle of experimentation! I also feel like Nels Cline brought the experimentation to new territory.

Took my son to the Traveling Newport Folk Festival outside Pittsburgh years ago. We both were stunned at the soulful intensity and uniqueness. Fans ever since.

Saw Wilco at an outdoor show in Fairbanks, Alaska probably a decade ago at this point, the best live performance I have ever witnessed.

Saw them at the first ACL Fest the day after the secret show at the Parish for YHF. Then in '05. Then at the Season 30 show as well. Very big influence on my guitar playing for sure. You learn a lot as a musician listening to this band.

The coolest band in history... no one is more hip that Jeff Tweedy. The most over rated band in history. If it wasnt for the late Jay Bennet they would have fizzled out. 650k + units sold of YHF. The last 3 albums averaged 23K.
