The floorboards are pretty creaky in the library - especially the old library. Love the cannonball that was fired into the college at the top of the stairs.
Wonderful place - even more super than when I was there in the 1980s. Small quibble - it's pronounced St John's, not Saint John's. Similar to the shortening of the surname St John to sounding like SIN-jin. So more like Sin John's College (-;
As a Catholic who highly regards St John’s history, and one day aspires to study there, that was a somewhat hurtful and underhand comment about Thomas White’s Catholicism.
It's ironic that Oxford University, which was devoutly Catholic during the Reformation (unlike Cambridge, which was a hotbed of Protestant ideas and ideals), has twice in the space of four hundred years recalled Ecclesia Anglicana to its rightful place as a living part of the Church Universal. Whenever I'm in Oxford I like to call in at St. John's College in order to attend Choral Evensong and to remember the Blessed William Laud, the last Archbishop of Canterbury to be martyred, whose headless body is interred in the Chapel.
@@user-wl9gw7xe2q This is flippant and totally disingenuous. I didn't demand it be pulled down or anything like that. It's just merely disappointing that an institution with such a great history would so dismissively spit on it like that.
After watching videos of different colleges of oxford universities I don’t want to go to oxford it’s now run by women and lgbt etc etc. Not confident on its long term success.
you need to make a 10-hour version of that "wow" :D
After watching 18 of these clips, this was the one I actually laughed at. Great job I love it
I'm absolutely in love! This just inspired me to get through my A-Levels studying, thanks.
I was at Keble. The poor neighbor of St. John's. I went to St. John's for tutorials. Wonderful grounds.
clicking the like button once is not enough to express how much I love this video. and St John's. and Oxford.

You had me at the library. If I had the financial and intellectual possibilities, you could count me in😍
Beautiful college, I wish I could visit it
this video is sooo underrated!!
what gets me is so much has been spent by this college on its own resources - yet it will not see the Lamb and Flag pub through tricky Covid times.

Who could possibly bear to live in college after the first year?
@Person to stay in college after your first year shows a deplorable unadventurous spirit, it's girly
I can't tell if your being sarcastic lol
It is never "John's". That's Cambridge.
As a Catholic who highly regards St John’s history, and one day aspires to study there, that was a somewhat hurtful and underhand comment about Thomas White’s Catholicism.
if that was hurtful i don’t think you should be on the internet

Well, I’m also a Catholic and saw the comment more as a reference to both sides of the Reformation (rather than just Marian persecutions)
@@gu3r1tar Catholic? Where from? You have an Arabic letter for a profile picture

I am quite sure some members of the college greet prof. Molnar with a "Wow!" every time they see him.
