I’m so glad the minimalist movement has been growing. It’s better for the planet and our mental health for many ppl
Yes! My main diver is my mental health and also my energy levels but I’m so glad it’s good for the planet too!
It's so freeing when you stop taking part in consumerism. When you've drawn a line in the sand and set boundaries for your financial resources, time and mind space. Great reminder, thanks😁
It really is the most liberating thing! I feel so much Less stress now, too, trying to keep up with other people! Now I just do my own thing and am a much happier person!
Absolutely. Less decisions overall.
Early retirement. The more you spend, the longer you’ll work.
I just did a massive declutter inside my home, not quite done yet, and am feeling quite liberated. Its a joy to open drawers! My struggle has been physical photographs and CDs/DVDs.
I agree this is where I struggle
I’m rewatching these videos for inspiration ✨just read your comment , how are you doing with decluttering, have you made any progress with the cds etc.? I’m continually decluttering and finding I can let go of more and more 🙂
@Jo Raine I am making progress in tge DVD dept. I have a box full of DVDs that I'm donating to a local women's shelter and I am getting rid of the movies that are not my absolute favorites. I pull them out and decide if I will ever really want to watch it again and if it isn't immediate yes, it goes in the box. When I get more time,I plan to dodge same with CD's, but the good news is I can save them on an external hard drive,so they are still available if I ever need them. I did great with photos, digitalized all my kids photos (I actually used my Nikon and just took photos of their photos, it was easier than scanning each one and allowed me to do cropping and expisure fixes) and sentimental school work and drawings, then handed them the boxes of their stuff!
@Jo Raine when I had Covid recently, I went through my house and was pleased that under the sinks, in drawers, still neat and tidy, hardly anything to get rid of!
I’m lucky that my favorite grocery store sells bulk spices. If I find a recipe that uses one I don’t have I buy exactly the amount I need, in a small baggie. The cost is always amazingly cheap-usually less than $0.25!
That is an incredible price!
Instead of hand towels, I keep a basket of inexpensive wash cloths for hand drying in the bathroom.
Checkout totes are great for filling with clutter and taking to the thrift shop to donate.
Yes! Use up all the ones you have and donate them along with all the stuff inside!
Or the boxes from Costco or Sam’s Club!
@@jennV8272I've literally been putting "2 extra boxes" on my costco list whenever I go, or my husband goes! 😂 Gotta fill 'em up!!
We only have one sheet per bed too! If one of mine are sick in the night or wet the bed ain’t no way I’m putting a fitted sheet on in the middle of the night lol towel all the way 🤣🤣 plus that’s why mattress protectors are a must
100% two mattress protectors! And Yep, a towel is always the solution for us, too!
@@FancyThatwithCandice My father and I each own two because we leave in New England and use two different types of fabric depending on the temperature. Now this might change as we will be moving into our new home soon WHERE WE WILL BE ABLE TO USE THE HEAT! It will no longer be landlord controlled! Which also makes my christmas purchase of a heated blanket kind of redundant. But right now we have a set each of flannel for the winter and cotton for the summer.
I only own one fitted sheet for my bed because I hate to fold fitted sheets. Plus I do not buy top flat sheets.
We have 2 for each stationary bed. But we often have guests over and we use them for the guest beds.
Every item you mentioned I’m nodding and agreeing. Feels so good whittling things down to the faves and just enjoying the space it creates.
Yes! Just keeping your favorites makes a huge difference!
Me too!!
It’s been three years and I am still going through all the cleaning supplies that I had already purchased....yikes! Thanks for the inspiration!
Not keeping extras of toiletries just isn't practical if you don't live near a store. We are 30 minutes from the nearest store of any kind so you can't just conveniently run to the store and grab toothpaste if you are out. I will always keep at least one extra on hand of things like this.
We are 1.5 hours from the store. Amazon takes a week to arrive. I’m right with you!
Oh, girl! I totally get it! I would have back ups, too, if I did not live so close to a store!
@@jerryabigailahrens8239 yikes! I thought 30 minutes away from a store was bad!
Ha ha I live 10 minutes from a big store and still I always have a spare of the most important things. There is no way on Earth I will leave my house without deodorant or cleaning my teeth. But usually I only keep one or two units of each thing
@@carolc2574 I would still keep extras even if I lived right beside the store! No way I want the hassle of having to go to the store just for shampoo when I realize I'm completely out!
I am the exact opposite with wall calendars. They are a must for me so I can see everything for the month at a glance, and so can the rest of the family. A planner would be useless for me, and therefore, clutter. It’s interesting to see people’s preferences. 😊
I’m the same. Planners are just wasted on me though I love the look of them
I have wall calendars too. I don’t have many pictures etc on my walls, so it’s nice to see different pix each month.
I love my big wall calendar. $5 from the Target front area (dollar spot). Keeps my family on track with sports, school, work schedules, church activities, etc. Keeping it visible for everyone is key.
It is so fun to see how people are different!
If a smaller calendar works for you, Dollar Tree sells them. 🙂 I've recently started using a calendar myself, and it's improving my day-to-day processes.
I used to grab sample like there’s no tomorrow... not anymore. I don’t buy home decor either, unless I have a specific place for it. I also decided not to buy throw pillows 🙂
I absolutely love not having all those extra samples laying around cluttering up my space!
I save all of the sample products I get that I know I won't use and when I get a good stash built up I give them away to a single moms group that my church supports. They can go through them and pick out what they'd like to try.
I use them for vacations.
I rarely even buy tissue paper now. As long as it’s not torn I recycle it! A little ironing and it’s as good as new!
Good for you on the shoes... sometimes I get so tired of looking at Women's closets and they've got like 30+ pair of shoes.. in my opinion I think that's so ridiculous....lol
I just don’t feel the need for so many options! A simplified wardrobe works best for me!
I recently heard it put as, you can have options...or you can have freedom.
I don’t buy. Hardly anything anymore. Jaja. And if I do. It’s 1 in. And 2 out. To keep my house from clutter. ❤️
One in, two out! Oh my gosh maybe this needs to be my goal for 2021
I have fond memories of my late husband and I playing "stuffed animals" with our son when he was little. My son was 10 years-old when his dad passed away. We have some fun lion puppets and a tiger that will probably be with us forever. Fast forward 9 years . . . my sons loves to give stuffed animals for his girlfriend on special occasions.
Bad idea to not change sheets when someone is sick. Having extra sheets is a MUST.
i love watching about minimalism vids! i learned so many things that i never thoght ii couldnt do to be just be simple in life by changing habits...thank u for making us realize the importance of living minimal yet more happier..ypu're an inspiration!
I disagree on the sheets. I love having a second set so when its time for clean sheets I can peel off the dirty and remake with a clean set and be done vs removing, washing and returning to make the bed 2 hours later.
Agree! I’ve done the one sheet set thing for years and sometimes my bed would remain unmade for hours. The worst, is realizing it’s bedtime and I never got the new sheets on because I got distracted with other duties.
I totally see what you’re saying! It is so nice to find a system that works for you!
I usually let my mattress take a breath while washing the sheets, I open the windows and let the sunlight in.
I saved a couple of spray bottles and now make all my own cleaners. No chemicals, no plastic waste and pennies to make. White vinegar, baking soda, and essential oils clean everything , and I mean everything. I don’t buy any at all. And nothing for the landfill.
Great ideas here, thank you .
This was so great! I do the same with sheets, gift bags, samples, magazines, bags, and most everything you said! Thank you!! ❤️
I am all about the samples!! I haven’t had to buy moisturizer in years since I use my Sephora points to get deluxe sizes of good brands. I keep a freebie container for teenagers in our guest bathroom for any products that we don’t like. It’s a great idea for those with teens!
I’m not a minimalist but I did enjoy listening for ideas on where my family can cut back. Thanks for sharing 😃
I love watching these videos. When I decluttered my life, I felt so freeing. And I love to watch others do the same and kinda confirm a lot of things that I don’t buy anymore too. I love it!
It is the most liberating thing, isn’t it!?
Totally agree about the hair care clutter! Takes up so much space! So many great tips, especially about back ups. I always used to feel like I always needed back ups! Thank you for sharing Candice!
I am so happy you enjoyed watching!
Great video! I love these videos full of tips! Thank you for the time and consistent videos!!!
You are the sweetest! You’re welcome!
I’m working in all of this too! I cancelled my Ipsy subscription a year or so ago, stopped watching makeup videos because they encourage me to buy tons of makeup (once or twice a year I may watch reviews of a certain product), I also only have one set of sheets per bed and gave away the extras, I stopped buying jewelry almost completely because I have enough I really love, I don’t buy a ton of cleaning products (use a good multi purpose cleaner-I usually use the same Mrs. Meyers multi-surface cleaner you showed-that can do pretty much everything), years ago I had magazine subscriptions but haven’t had those in probably 15 years or more....
Isn’t it so liberating to cut things out of your life?! I cannot believe how much less anxiety I feel without all this extra stuff in my life! And the only make up guru I still watch is Ally Glines. She is just so cute!
I love these Vlogs, just a beautiful distraction during the times we are walking thru. I decluttered my house 3 years ago and never looked back ! Does it bother you if you go into a house that is cluttered? It’s stresses me. Keep the Vlogs coming you are such a bright spot for us to come to . Thank you 🙏🏼
I definitely notice when peoples houses are cluttered now… I do not judge of course, but I feel the difference! I am so much happier, personally, and a clutter free space!
Fabulous shade of lipstick you're wearing today!
I get wall calendars for Christmas Every year, and have no place to hang them. But I like using one!!!
You know how you get stains out of plastic? After you use the food in your plastic container. Put dish soap in, hot water and a couple of paper towels. Place lid on, and shake. It will absorbe all the grease. ☺
Just found your videos tonight and after watching just two videos, I’m hooked! Some of your suggestions I’ve already utilized but there’s ALWAYS more to learn. 👍🏼😀
I'm so happy to hear you're liking my content! I'm so happy to have you in this space!
Totally relate to the mug concept - love the white one with cool inside 🤗🙏🏼❤️
Love this video 😊💕 I feel like your lifestyle is similar to my lifestyle.
I am so happy you were able to relate!
Love this video, got so many new ideas!
Great video!
This is so helpful. I have started a major declutter in my home and I don’t buy most of these things but you have given me more things that I can live without. Thank You
I am so happy this is helpful!
I can so relate to everything that you used to buy. I’ve stopped buying most of those things as well realizing that I had a real problem. Thanks so much for sharing this amazing video!
I love what a huge difference cutting back on these things can make!
I love this video!!! Thank you girl for all of your inspiration 💕.
On my journey to becoming a more minimalist lifestyle, you tube recommended your video. So glad it did, you have a beautiful personality. Your video is very helpful. Looking forward to watch more of your lovely videos! New subscriber 💕Have a beautiful & blessed day🌸
Samples: once or twice a year I like to something new and having 5-8 samples on hand gives me a new spa experience without wasting money on something I don't really need.
So happy I came across your channel! I do need new booties...may I ask what brand you showed in this video. Love the snakeskin as a neutral. I'll be back, but now have some work to do LOL.
Great video! 🥰🥰🥰
Thank you so much for watching!
Omg I totally agree with you the samples are just too much I work at a retail store so i’m constantly getting free samples but honestly I just stuff them away and barely ever use them it creates clutter so I stop accepting them
Makes sense to me, I am trying theses tips, to improve my life. Thank You 😊
This is a great video with such great ideas. PLEASE put the phone down while taping. I got motion sickness while watching it. Loved the content!
Great video 😊👍 also love your makeup 😀
Thank you for your honesty , you have given me a lot to think about . I have been a subbie for a long time . But this last year of your new journey has been interesting to watch...you are a lot happier...how that’s possible I don’t know...you seem like the happiest CZcamsr on here , but I think it’s the sense of freedom that brings it to the surface more . I have purge my home a lot but I am encouraged by just how much you have let go and I might be a year behind but I will catch up at some point and hope to purge a lot more . thank you for all your videos, I truly appreciate them . 💛.
Thank you for your thoughtful words!! Decluttering has really brought me so much freedom and joy along with it! I am so excited about your journey, too!
@@FancyThatwithCandice Thank you. 💛.
this was EXCELLENT - thank you. I subscribed! I have watched a few of these videos but found that most of the things people don't buy I have never bought or would never consider buying - so not very helpful.. In this one you are speaking to me! - recipe books, mugs, plastic containers, totes, cleaners, shoes, sales (esp clearance bins), scarves - exactly all the things I used to buy. I'm using up what I have and not buying any more! I like how you talk about passing items by. I'm using up cleaning products, hair products, face creams (If I dont like them on my face I use them as hand or body creams - why not? they were expensive so don't want to throw them out) . Am paring down my plastic containers - I get rid of anything damaged and don't replace. Still need to get rid of SCARVES - you hit home with that one!!! Thanks!
I am so happy you were able to relate! Also, thank you for subscribing! I am so excited to have you!
I really enjoy all your videos. I just started decluttering and moving towards a minimalist lifestyle. I want to stop my Ipsy account also and I no longer buy costume jewelry. I only want simple, classic pieces that go with everything.
I love that you can see cute mugs or other things and pass them by. I am starting to try to appreciate the beauty of items I see in shops but not buy them.
It takes a while to get used to passing so many things up, but it get SO much easier the more you do it!
Loved this video❤️. Iv recently started on a minimalist journey, I decluttered our home and reduced my kids toys by around 80%(just stored away the ones they don't play with to donate in the near future), they are so much happier now, less distracted and play much better together. The biggest positive for me is that I don't have a house tidying schedule anymore, as it rarely gets messy. I just clean when it needs it now👍😊. I don't buy my kids toys anymore(especially stuffed animals lol), they get toys gifted at Christmas from relatives and we tend to buy them experiences instead like cinema vouchers etc❤️.
That is so awesome! I agree that kids play so much better with less choices! And amen to experiences over stuff!
Love this!
I was an agreement with so much of this video. I think about 5 years ago, on CZcams, I would watch “shopping hauls” (remember it was such a thing?”) and I think I sometimes got sucked into the consumerism of it all. You felt like you should have all of these things. Now I look back and shake my head. Less stuff is less stuff to manage 😊.
I cannot tell you how many shopping hauls I have watched over the years! They always encouraged me to spend money on unnecessary items. I am so much happier now without them!
I just unsubscribed from all my haul channels. I’ve done well in store, buying only what I need but I’ve been tempted. If I don’t t know about it, I won’t want it and I’m not pushing my luck! No more FOMO for me. :)
Totally off topic. Your lighting is always so gorgeous!!! I love your energy and positive attitude. Your personality exudes sunshine, as does your amazing lighting!😂 Can you share if you use a special lighting?
You are so sweet! I do not use any special lighting… Just the sun!
You have a great positive energy!
Stuffed animals are the bane of my existence! My youngest daughter (7y/o) LOVES them and everyone gets them for her. Then we have to secretly purge some when she’s not around and she ALWAYS notices 🤦🏼♀️
Oh no LOL that is tough!
I don't recommend purging her stuffed toys without her consent. I am still a little mad about my mother when she did that in my childhood and I noticed my favorite stuff was gone.
Of course you can declutter but I encourage you to involve your daughter in the process, really asking what she wants to keep.
Oh and telling them damn relatives not to by more of course haha
I kept them all and now in attic
My daughter 15 and we went through them recently from the attic! We got rid of two she loves them still and has names I figure they are not hurting anything in attic
I have 4 sets of sheets for each bed. I change our linens once a week.
In Australia grocery stores don’t provide shopping bags, so I have lots of tots and keep bags for the shopping!
Your colors and makeup are beautiful today !
Thank you so much for this channel you have been so helpful ….I’m decluttering a home after 25 years and three boys. Things that I don’t buy anymore are coloured towels, coloured table wear, mugs, kitchen gadgets, paintings,Knick knacks, picture frames, lamps, small pot plants and Xmas decorations or any festive decorations. No more antiques or collections of any kinds.
I'm with you 100%!
Hi loved this so much ❤️💖
I am so happy you enjoyed watching!
My son is 10 years old now and has just decided to let go of his stuffed animals (teddy’s they all get called in the UK ) . They deffo have been a wonderful comfort to him over the years & he’s kept a couple of special ones but there will be much less tidying now as they would fall on the floor all the time!
I love the idea of just keeping your very favorites of things! He will love not having so much to clean now!
I save the tissue paper folded nicely and vertically in a shoe box. I have them organized in a rainbow order and it is so easy to see the colors that I need. I have my gift bags hanging in an armoire with dollar store shower curtain rings. I have them hanging in size order.
SUCH great ideas!
I watched a haul video before I watched yours...I’m recovering lol. With a few weak moments 🤣 but I didn’t want anything so that’s good! 😜 I did buy something from Hobby Lobby last week and had to return it because I had no where for it! I totally bought it because it was cute. Intentional living is the best because everything has a purpose!
Only buying what serves a purpose has made such a difference for me, too!
Your videos have helped me so much! When I recently decluttered my makeup, I realized I had tons of samples and tiny products from ipsy that had never been used! I didn’t like most of the colors, so I canceled my membership.
Yay! Less stuff equals more freedom!
I love scarves, specially in winter. I don’t buy them often but I do use what I have.
I can relate to a lot in your video. I too have pared down and switched to all white dishes, white towels, no holiday tea towels, decluttered scarves, only one of each type of grooming product, etc. I've never liked scented sprays, plug-ins etc. I no longer accept cosmetic samples. I just don't use them and I don't want to be wasteful. Your make-up looks beautiful! Rosie👩🦳🇨🇦
1:30 I do the same thing!! I have only one sheet set per bed (twin bunk beds, queen and futon) and throw a blanket down when needed.... Easy, and effective!!!!
Loved this !! No more samples For me, I forget that I have them never used them, so I had to get rid of them !! Also magazines were my guilty pleasure , no more.
I don’t know why are used to hold onto so many samples that I did not even like!
Magazines can probably be rented from the library. I know I used to drop $$$ on magazines too. I am a huge library fan.
I grab samples of products I am interested in. I love having them because I feel so accomplished when I use them up (I always do) 🙃
Oh! So amazing that you are able to finish them! That makes it totally worth it!
For spices if you find a recipe that has a spice you don’t have you can ask neighbours or try the bulk section in your grocery store where you can scoop a little
I just tossed a whole basket of shaving cream that I got on sale 6 years ago! I kept them thinking I would use them but they made me itch. Why punish myself!? Cleared out one whole bin
I love that thought, “why punish myself “? So happy you let it go!
My husband doesn't use shaving cream any more. We use usual soap bars in a mesh bag and he makes his "foam" by rubbing the bag to his face. The good, skin-friendly soap doesn't even cost a Euro and lasts for months.
I would like to see a video about your cleaning supplies. What items you use (since you have already tested them). How you store them and where you use them if you’re using them multi purpose.
I keep Myers spray in my kitchen and really like it.
I don’t keep buying the cute hand towels but I keep the ones I have in one drawer and change them out seasonally. One of the clients I clean for does this and it’s a super cute thing to drape over a cabinet door or put on the oven door just for simple decor. You only need so many. I use other ones for drying dishes or drying hands.
I love your laugh. You seem like a really fun person 😊
My daughter is 13 and still loves stuffed animals. She collects sloths. Luckily she has a good sized waredrobe so they are contained.
Ahhhhhh! The mugs! I thought I was the only crazy person! NO ONE else in my house drinks coffee and I used to own like 3 dozen mugs. I have 6 that I love(6 only because that is a comfortable amount to entertain with) and I just talk myself out of even walking that way in the store.
Good list ❤️
Thank you so much!
@@FancyThatwithCandice You are most welcome!
Tissue paper is such a great deal at the Dollar Tree. It’s phenomenal. (They’re great for all wrapping stuff but esp tissue.)
There is a shampoo at target that is in a bar form it comes in a recyclable box. I started using it. You just put water on the bar or on your hands and it creates a lather and you apply to your hair.
Oh wow!!! Do you like it?
Where are your cups and dishwater from? I love it and I’m switching over mine.
I don't buy throw away cotton pads to remove eye makeup and put toner on. I bought reusable, washable bamboo ones from Amazon. I love this change that I made.
I agree about the hair products. Im currently just using what I have. Then, I'll just buy what works for me.
YES!! I love not having all the extra products lying around!!
Love this video! Now I need to purge some Tupperware...but I’m keeping my cute mugs! 😂
My kids still love stuffed animals and they are 8 and 14. I do not buy stuffed animals regularly but for Christmas or birthdays my kids love them!
I don’t buy any more cooking utensils. I love to cook, and I had collected every type of whisk that had been manufactured. I am not a pastry chef, and have no need for all of these. I have cleaned out and donated 13 items from my utensil crock. Next month I have challenged myself to donate five more. If I had to use a word to describe myself, I would say ‘excessive.’ In 2021 I want to embrace Less IS best. Thank you for inspiring me to de-clutter and simplify my life.
I have much of what you used to! I am decluttering also and enjoyed your video and thoughts of what you bought , why you let things go. Helpful! Many thanks, great content.
I am so happy this was helpful!
I love your videos!
Thank you so much!
I so enjoyed this video. Would you mind sharing where you purchased your Ever Spring refill for your soaps?
I have seen that brand at Target!
Yes, target!

I’m pretty good about most things but mugs and travel mugs get me every time.
Oh man! There are so many cute ones!
I with you, although, if my shampoo/conditioner/mouse are on sale at a GREAT price, l will keep 1 or 2 ahead. Sheets.. Extra botton sheet for each bed is good. Walmart sells separate sheets. I use glass leftover holders. No plastic if l can help it. Have not bought a cookbook for 25 years but l use the ones l have a lot! Bulk Barn for special small amount spices.. I DO have two dish sets... One is a pre-war Rosenthal set l love and use ... The other is everyday. To each their own??
Oh my goodness, my daughters (14 and 9) still love stuffed animals and have way too many. They are very sentimental about them.
I wish I could pare down our glass Tupperware; we literally use all of it quite often. We also bring meals in them when we leave the house during the day.
I couldn't go without a wall calender. I use one big (about a meter wide) with the whole year on. I mark the school holidays, birthdays and recent appointments, so everybody in the family can see it.
Strange question, I love your lipstick. Will you please share the color and brand, please? Would you purchase it again? Thank you.
I love the library for cookbooks. I love to look at cookbooks just do NOT want to keep them. Look test and then search and pin it. Done and done.
We have one set of sheets per bed as well and so far ( 23 years ) it’s been working. Lol. Just this year ( 2022) I decided to not buy gift bags or gift tissue paper. I’m using up the bags we already have and I’ve found 2 styles of wrapping paper that , between them, will work for any occasion. Or I will find another inexpensive , creative way to present the gift.
I follow so many of the same rules you follow, except for the sheets. Just an extra set of sheets for each family member. We don’t do stuff animals bc of allergens, dust & clutter. I have the same spice jars you have & stick with the basic spices😀.Also, I don’t ever have to buy bags or tissue paper, bc we recycle from year to year. Before Covid-19, I would collect gift bags & tissue paper from people’s birthday parties, bridal or baby showers & it would drive my family crazy😃. There’s a going family joke on how many times the bags show up & how long they will last😂. I don’t buy home decor anymore, but if I do bring something in, it must serve a purpose. I’m in my second year of decluttering & I now consider myself to be a “Practical Minimalist”.
Yes to practical minimalism! And not buying gift bags really does save so much money overall!
