  • As part of the partnership between ‪@TheLibraGroup‬ and the #LEAFestival, during the last week of April, Greenwood Energy [“GWE”] and a delegation of Mamus and Authorities of the Arhuaco People visited the capital of Greece with the purpose of promoting a cultural bridge between the indigenous community of the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta and the Hellenic Republic. Serving as the epicenter of a vibrant cultural agenda, on April 22, in celebration of the #EarthDay, the conference ‘Cultural Bridges in Athens: Discovering the Wisdom of the Mamus of the Arhuaco Community of Colombia’ was held at the auditorium of the Benaki Museum. This conference was broadcast live at the Bogotá International Book Fair [“FILBo”] and simultaneously translated into Greek, Spanish, and English.
As part of the intercultural program organized by the Libra Group and the LEA Festival, the delegation visited various schools in Athens, where hundreds of students of all ages interacted with the Arhuaco leaders, enabling a rich cultural exchange that highlighted the numerous similarities between these two ancient cultures. The program also included visits to ancient Greek temples, such as the Temple of Poseidon in Sounion, the Temple of Apollo in Delphi, and the Acropolis of Athens, where the Arhuaco leaders gave various interviews to international media, sharing their knowledge and perspectives with the rest of the world. Additionally, this trip marked the beginning of the filming of a documentary about the Arhuaco community, produced by Cosmic Picture with the support of GWE.
Throughout the week, the delegation also participated in introductory meetings with various political leaders from Greece and Europe, including ministers from the Municipality of Athens, Members of the European Parliament, and seasoned diplomats. In all these meetings, the most recurring theme has been the inescapable need to promote sustainable development, driven by the severe consequences that climate change is generating across the European continent.
We extend our gratitude to the Libra Group and the LEA Festival for their initiative and dedication in organizing this enriching intercultural journey, which has provided an invaluable opportunity to honor our origins and understand the importance of respecting and protecting the different perspectives that enrich the cultural and human prism of our planet.
