There are 2 kinds of people in this world.
Those who love Rush, and those who are Wrong!!
RUSH is an acquired taste. Don't like them?.. acquire some taste.
I'm Canadian. I just turned 69. And guess who just acquired some taste... in the last three weeks. I went from merely tolerating Rush to shaking my head in disbelief at the shere monstrous talent of those three. It was only when I turned to CZcams, after a friend wouldn't let it go, that the light - the Rushbulb - flashed through my brain and in an instant I got it. Transformational.
I had a friend that said he didnt like Rush. Said he couldn't understand their music. I made him go to a live show with me in the early 90's. He became an instant fan. His chin was in his chest the whole show...
Best band of the Solar Federation!
Maybe the galaxy.
Geddys incredible punchy Rickenbacker bass tone is ridiculous!!!
The Rick was always my favorite bass Geddy used. Just so punchy and throaty.
@@nickavenoso7851 It is also directly why Cliff Burton used it in Metallica.
That’s what a RUSH concert medley sounds like. They had such a big, popular, catalog that they had to start doing these medleys to hit the songs the fans wanted. That and to keep it as fresh for themselves also. That’s why there’s a weird sounding, song shift on some of their live material. It’s them having fun and sometimes it’s an inside joke with the fans. I was very fortunate to have seen RUSH live from very early on. Numerous times.
Jeff is the man...and should be thanked profusely for being such a great supporter, and a major Rush fan.
Yes Jeff thank you very much I have a feeling you are the same Jeff that supports a ton of these reaction channels and makes amazing requests focusing on outstanding Rush performances. Thanks for making my day it had been a while since I had seen theis one.
🤯😳👍🤘🖖✌️🥁🎸🎤super-human or inhuman or alien🤔those three guys are, were, and will always be untouchable.
Rush is 💯 Untouchable 🔥
Greatest band of all time lyrically and musically all 3 are virtuosos on their instruments!
It's great seeing you diving back into some RUSH. I was fortunate enough to see these guys over 30 times. Every single time was a religious experience.
53 times including the final show at the Forum in LA.... Best live band ever!
Peak Rush. Just phenomenal. This was the zenith.
Yeah, I agree with this. Early eighties they had physically peaked. Geddy’s voice sounded great. After this, there was a slight slowing down from age and physical ailments in Alex and Neil. Neil was an absolute monster in this concert.
Pro musician here - saw them twice in late 80's - imo this is the best rock band (technical skills) in history & this being the best concert - to nail all those notes/time signatures perfectly is beyond words - too many bands get sloppy live for various reasons - never Rush - they've always sounded as good or even better live than their studio releases - damn few can claim that, especially considering this complexity of material - absolute legends onstage & respectable gentlemen offstage -
Best Band ever in the Galaxy!!! Your heartfelt reactions are the best I have ever seen. Had the pleasure of seeing this Amazing band 47 times and still not enough. Thanks Jeff great call!
This has always been one of the best sounding live Rush recordings.
Thank you Jeff. Keep'em coming!
I was at that show. Epic concert!
You lucky bastard!
Fly by night was the first album that hooked me into RUSH!
Greatest band ever! They had so much energy and virtuosity with just three guys!
If you think that their performance of the 2112 finale was smokin' hot, then wait until you see the performance from their 1997 Toronto show where they did the full 20 minutes. Cheers from Toronto!
🎤 🎹 🎸 🥁 🎸 🔥 🔥 🔥
RUSH The greatest rock band that ever was or ever will be.
Exit Stage Left is peak Rush.
And you were accurate when you observed that- at that moment in time- they were the best band in the world.
A geek friend of mine brought his vhs copy of Exit Stage Left to my history class in high school on the last day of school. Most of my classmates were socializing. I was glued to the TV monitor. Rush were so amazing!
Alex Lifeson IS LIFE!
When they hit a groove live and are having a really good show they start to goof around, Alex in particular is up to something most shows, you have to keep your eyes on him, I always tried to get tickets on his side of the stage and in the front three rows.
I had first row across the aisle from the 3rd row on the floor In front of Alex one night. Three nights later I'm in the 3rd row on the floor in front of Geddy. Months before the show, Hold Your Fire became my 2nd favorite album in all music history, first time I see Rush twice on any tour. Geddy noticed that I was on the other side of the stage 3 nights before. He must have told the other two before the encore because Alex came all the way over in front of me, pointed at the other side, I shake my head Yes, then he ripped into the bluesy solo in Overture of 2112. What a great experience. Hold Your Fire is still my 2nd favorite album, right behind the finest music ever written or recorded in all music history, Tales From Topographic Oceans. That's how great Hold Your Fire is.
If you haven’t done By-Tor and the Snowdog in its entirety it’s a must. One of their great songs of the early years if not ever.
Especially from the album "All The World's A Stage" .. their performance on that recording is absolutely fantastic stuff! .. that is a MUST listen to album.
@@squidly2112 yeah they went psychedelic on that one. I like the studio better. The production is so good.
wow! thanks for playing that performance!
Thanks for reacting. I wish I was there in the Montreal Forum that night to witness this masterclass performance. If given the choice to enter a Time Machine to enter any moment in time, as a hard core Rush fan I would choose to be transplanted to the Montreal Forum for this show in 1981 above anything else.
Good job, dudes!!! God bless you! From Brazil!!
Yeah, back in the day, when I first started to see Rush in concert -- between 1977 and 1982 (and following) -- shows/tours like this were the most incredible events I would ever see. I started at the age of 14, as an aspiring drummer, to see Rush live and it was just devastating! I was blown so thoroughly away every time! Guys, there are a lot of pretty excellent fan Bootlegs available on CZcams of Rush in concert from these early/formative years, when they were first showing the world what they could do. I highly recommend you checking out the 1980 Permanent Waves tour bootleg from St. Louis, which was a radio simulcast and it sounds amazing! You will hear some of the most insane musicianship in the world plus one of Neil Peart's best drum solos! I've been a hardcore fan ever since 1977 and those live shows were one huge reason why!
I was at that concert, Rush live is the ultimate experience.
I saw this video back in 1985 in my history classroom on the last day of school. The teacher was kind enough to indulge the nerds but our other classmates weren't interested. I was mesmermized by that vhs tape of Rush.
So glad to have seen them live.
Y'all just gotta do the whole exit stage left show at this point
Even after all these years, they still catch my breath,
Best live concert ever. Imagine getting some By-Tor and 2112 in the same medley. 😊
For something different but equally as impressive, check out Bravado from Rush in Rio. The Pass as well, you won't be disappointed ❤
Moving pictures, my first concert. My neighbor in Brooklyn said he had seen zep gloyd and all these classic bands. He said he had never seen a better band live than RUSH(Vapor Trails tour). He was so blown away he bought me the CD.
This as been recorded in Montreal , my fist Rush show and never miss them after .i Saw them 25+ times.
They recorded the show and it’s on a DVD . Look for Exit… Stage Left
28 year old Lifeson killing it!❤❤❤
Exit Stage Left and R-30 live. My two favorite albums of all time.
There was something in the air at the Montreal Forum in 1981!!! Between this show and Queen Rocks Montreal, arguably 2 of the best performances of all time!!!
These musicians were virtuosos !
They were high octane, jet fuel energy.on this performance.
Love the reaction 😅😅
Big Rush fan here
Rush in the 80s was great, in their prime
Best live performance would be Xanadu from the same show….or 2112 from the 97 live show all 7 parts…..just my two cents….
You're bang on. I was at the 97 show in T.O. and still can't believe my ears from watching it on you tube.
Is that 7-part 2112 on CZcams? Please, please, please provide a link!
They reacted to it on this channel, it one of there rush reactions…it’s great.
Hi guys, all great with you both I see, Best intro ever is another great one for your consideration, Stay happy, stay safe, thanks for always loving great music. Cheers.
Absolutely fantastic!!!
Alex Shredded like no other. Geddy is killer on the Bass. Neil is ridiculous on the drum kit. 🤘🤘🤘🔥🔥🔥🎸🥁
The crowd sign at 20 seconds reminded me of the Rush crowd sign that Rainbow used on the Long Live Rock And Roll album cover replacing the pentagram and the Rush T-Shirts on the crowd. In The Mood was a pre-Peart song that is is a throwback guy talking up girl rock song. Rare for Rush but still a great song.
From Toronto
Like watching you two react to my favorite band
Thanks Canada
Thanks for seeing the greatness! cheers!
This song on the original lp is what shot them to fame because of a Clevland radio station who dared to play late at night one evening in197?. The requests came pouring in after that! Now they are in the rock hall of fame in 'Clevlend' 🤟
Moments like this at every show. Never disappointed. Cheers!
When I heard that the characters "By-Tor and the Snowdog" were based on two dogs that frequented the recording studio, I just had to love this song twice as much more. That's the story I heard, that the dogs that hung out in the studio had these nicknames, and being the Monty-Python fans that those guys were, they made this comical badass song. If anyone knows more or has corrections please comment. It's a cool story.
This is my favourite era of Rush: back when The Professor still had his Tama drums and was surrounded by cool percussion instruments, instead of electronics. Alex and Geddy were literally still plugged into their amps with cables…
This was a fantastic montage of their earlier material, it’s really a shame this didn’t make it onto the album from this concert, Exit Stage Left.
Our boys from Toronto, Ontario, Canada I grew up with these guys on the radio every day. Classic rock station still plays them. I know I'm in the T dot O when I'm driving past the airport and Rush's Subdivisions is playing. I'm home.
By-Tor & The Snow Dog is in my Top 5 Rush songs of all time. These guys were in their early 20’s when it came out, the bass, drum fills, and Alex’s guitar solo is a master class.
seeing them live in the first few rows is the most amazing thing. They make it look so easy and every part is extremely the hardest live rock music ever
Ah the good old times, wish I could go back in time. Great reaction
Yah, 40 year old vintage Rush, utter Masterpiece. Who knew?
This was Rush at their peak. Wish that I had seen this concert back in the day. I did see them in January of 1980.
awesome
If you listen to All the Worlds Stage performance, the By-Tor song had a extra medley at the end, that was not played in Exit Stage Left. There is no video of All the worlds Stage as I know of. But the By- Tor song does have extra parts of music.
And Rush has the BEST fans!
My favorite quote about Rush.
Making other bands say W.T.F. since 1974
I went to all three shows in Toronto from this Moving Pictures tour. When they did the Time Machine tour, I took my son them do the entire album live.🇨🇦☮️
GREAT reactions
HOLY CRAP!!!🤪
Ladies and gentlemen the octopus on the drum kit!😉
As soon as I saw the title, I knew it would be a blast watching your reaction lol. You simply must react to the studio version of By-Tor & the Snowdog, it's the full version of the song, you will love it! These guys were 28 & 29 years old at this show, masters at that young age, amazing.
The band at its zenith!
Please listen to Mystic Rhythms!!! It is my favourite song of all time, and the use of the claptrap is the most effective I've ever heard.
Greatness
During this time RUSH was at their peak. They would sell out the largest arena in the biggest cities 2-3 nights straight.
So young and so much energy!
This is a medley of “By-Tor & The Snow Dog”/“In The End”/“In The Mood”/“2112: Grand Finale”! Try listening to the entirety of “By-Tor” for the whole story! Alex is the best guitarist!!! ❤ RIP Neil Peart ❤️
Please do the song "Afterimage" from Rush!!
That was 🔥🔥🔥🌟🌟🌟
Same show as Xanadu and 4:58 La Villa Strangiato. Neil is missing his pocket protector.
Curious if you guys recognized that last brief bit of music they played after In the Mood? It was the Outro ending Finale from the song 2112. Attention all planets of the Solar Federation! We Have Assumed Control.
What does the greatest guitarist + the greatest Bassist + THE GOAT PROFESSOR = RUSH 😂😮😂
Alex Lifeson-- criminally underated. ❤ By the way, i named my bass Geddy! 😊
Canada's best export ;-)
React to "Dinner with RUSH"
I just peed and soiled my space pants!
They're from Toronto, Alex and Geddy have know each other since they were like 12.
Half of the tracks from A Show of Hands are better than the album. May I suggest Marathon, Turn the Page or Red Sector A
TUIS BANDANA😢DIAN I LOVE THEM SOMUCH
It is unfair to other rock bands that this is allowed to be aired.
Wanna see a great live performance? Secret Touch by Rush.
Their from Toronto
If you watch baseball. Geddy sits behind home plate. Baseball cap.
Attention all planets of the solar federation Attention all planets of the solar federation Attention all planets of the solar federation Rush are coming to get you!!!!!!
LOL,did ya like the drummer, his name is Neal Peart RIP Neal, hes was and still is the best of the brast,IDEA,watch a video of Neal Peart
I've been fortunate enough to see some great bands but Rush by far tops the live show list.
RUSH. It’s a thing.
Still miss Neal!😉👍
this was much better on all the world is a stage
🤯😂
Damn , I’ve been recommending this top3 performance in Rush history for 5 fkn yrs. Congrats for FINALLY coming around. Instead RUSH fans have been recommending XANADU .. uggggggghhhhh
Sorry, but I just have to say it again: His name was pronounced "P-ear-T" not "P-ur-T".
That’s what I said Neil “Purt” Not Neil “Peart”🤷♂️
@@dmusiclife5727 But it is P-ear-T !!!
@@SnowDogisVictorious That’s what I said “Purt” 🤷♂️
