  • In this video, I share my experience trying 3 different methods for unclogging a bathroom shower drain clog with hair and gook. We tried Drain Snakes, Drano, and Baking Soda & Vinegar. I share my experience with each method and share my personal recommendation.
My personal recommendation is to have Drain Snakes handy and use the Baking Soda/Vinegar method for deeper clogs. In our experience, the Drano helped a little but not as well as the baking soda vinegar. I also don't like that Drano uses gnarly chemicals. It just doesn't seem necessary considering how well the other method worked.
Steps we followed for Baking Soda Vinegar Method
    1. Pour a pot of boiling water down drain
    2. Pour a half cup of baking soda in drain
    3. Pour a half cup of vinegar in drain
    4. Plug drain and wait 30-60 mins
    5. Flush with boiling water again
    6. Repeat if needed

    Vinegar: amzn.to/3x7UKnh

I tried baking soda/vinegar and Draino on my clog; made progress but not total success. Went to the hardware store and got a 25-foot drain snake with a drum auger: bingo. They’re not expensive and are easy to use. That’d be my recommendation.

a few questions: I can' t bring my drain thingie up enough to get the snake down- do I need to get a plumber/handyman to help? (all our drain thingies cannot be removed). 2. I get so grossed out and feel like I can't clean the snake enough so I never want to mess with it- and then where do I store the not 100% clean snake? and last 3. doesnt the boiling water damage the pipes???
