“Her music is inoffensive” personally I think that is a part of the problem with her music. It is so bland. Music for young people should irritate their parents.

Exactly. Part of the appeal of Vocaloid is how much creative freedom it gives for indie composers to experiment with different genres and to deliver messages that mainstream artists wouldn’t even consider touching.
THIS IS WHAT I’M SAYING.
People think that by playing it safe and using redone concepts automatically puts them in the line of fame when it is literally the exact opposite. A lot of very popular Vocaloid songs (especially from people like Maretu and Kikuo) handle very dark and macabre concepts.
But they handle it with passion, and a lot of the time, the people who make these songs are coming from a personal place. Her songs lack passion and by proxy, all “relatability” is completely lost.
Also if you really wanna make a song that caters to Gen Z, how about stop having people from Gen X and Millennials create the songs. It feels like they try way too hard

I think it's important to say because as much as it's fun to make memes about the company, there definitely will be people who go too far and go after the person.
I haven’t seen them give credit to her actual voice actress funnily enough, but if she is credited then I truly wish the best for her. She does not deserve to be attached to that godawful company :(

As a Vocaloid fan, I think one of the most wonderful things about Vocaloid is that it's the fanbase who create music, not the company who distributes the software, rather than whatever it is we have going on here.

From my POV the Vtuber/Vocaloid ignored by Reuters of all people is what irritates me. People always cited them to be the impartial, well-researched news but seeing this just tell me they're bought just like everyone else. They slept through the Vtuber boom with Myth so they're pretending they're on time with Polar. It's really annoying.

With the rise of popularity of Hololive and long history of Vocaloid, may Reuters are trying to compete with them.
I think it was intentional by Reuters. The company behind Polar is the same ones responsible behind 5 minute crafts and other sketchy youtube channels. If I had to assume what is going on behind the scenes, the actual person behind Polar wanted to become a vtuber idol much like Hololive, but she made a contract with a very sketchy company. The company itself wanted to try and separate Polar and themselves from vtubers all together, in an attempt to stand out. Obviously they weren't successful in this endeavor. I think they are using bots as their subscribers and you would see that in the comments of her videos up until Polar started to get flamed for her music. In their defense Polar's music isn't good. The lyrics are quite bland and I think the sound engineer is horrible at their job. Polar's voice albeit isn't terrible, but I think the company behind Polar certainly isn't bringing out Polar's best

A little worried about Polar being targeted towards children, seeing as most other Vtubers (or maybe just the Vtubers I like to watch) tend to be not so seiso.
Her stuff seems really tame. I think it's likely there won't really be any unseiso stuff since they want to make the content as monetizable as possible.
@@MatrixAMch The problem isn't likely to be Polar herself so much as the simple fact that there will be people who watch existing vtuber and/or vocalid content checking her out. This will create a link between her and other performers that will be recognized by recommendation algorithms-- so even if Polar herself is totally fine (which, given who owns her, is unlikely) kids watching her will probably get directed to less-clean performers through recommended videos.

Hatsune Miku rose to prominence as a result of community effort. There are producers behind every single vocaloid song and the producers can be anyone.
Polar looks to be nothing more than a corporate cash grab. Her growth doesn't appear to be natural or from communal effort so it doesn't come across as genuine.
For sure, you can really see the difference between this cheap corporate music and the talent and effort that Vocaloid producers put into their songs.

It's heartbreaking that so many creators and artist who use vocal synthesizers puts their heart, soul, and every ounce of creativity into making music and videos while this 3D model that dances awkward to popular music with emojis as visual effects and voiced over by some voice actor, all for just views and gaining popularity, is claiming that she is "Original"... It's so disrespectful.

i kinda find it funny that polars newest video has 74K views in 7 days (despite having that big of a following.) yet if we look at kanarias song queen, which was made the same day, already has over a million views, a music box cover, mashups, and covers.

I just heard about polar today and honestly I’m kinda confused on how they got that big of a following. It could be that I’m just ignorant of the more tiktokish culture but it kinda feels like at least half of polar’s following probably comes from bots, kids mindlessly going through CZcams kids/ youtube shorts, or normie teens finding them and forgetting they’re following polar. I could be wrong but with how low the engagement is, it wouldn’t surprise me
Yeah, it's definitely possible. I don't know enough about it to actually say that's what it is, but the low engagement is unusual for sure.
I don't use tiktock, but decided to check her CZcams channel out of curiosity. The videos were not only boring also, they didn't had much views and likes, and everything was screaming "bots". That's what I'm thinking.

They probably wanted to start it off with a lot of followers to make it look like she's already gaining trackion to become "the next big thing". Creating a fake sense of demand and liking in hopes that real people would join in.. If enough people did they could drop the bots. I'm sorry for the person who provides the voice but I hope the thing flops. It lacks creativity and reeks of corporate greed and ignorance.

Part of what bothers me is them ignoring the VERY long-standing precedent of Vocaloid, V-tubers, and game/anime/animated show characters doing this exact same thing. Polar(as a concept) is neither new nor innovative. The other part that bothers me is that for a company that can afford to buy media coverage and bots, Polar’s model is fairly low quality. They should probably invest in a higher quality final product before promoting her as much as they are.
The company should have tons of money from all their revenue on their other channels. They could have an amazing model if they wanted to, so I'm pretty baffled by the fact that they didn't seem to invest much into Polar.
Honestly I feel bad for whoever is behind the character, they we're put into a position where their persona was just doomed to fail from the start

If you go into any of Polar's social media, you can see easily that most of the comments are bots, they are all sending similar messages talking about how they love her music and are inspired by her. On her newest music videos the comments are turned off, and on her instagram there are barely any comments from active profiles and all her followers seem to be bots.

@@SilverHime Of course yes! I love songs IA songs (Higher, Conqueror, Shooting star, etc), Rin Kagamine's song Kokoro and a lot of Miku songs. Vocaloids are the best. No Polar can compete with them. Also I love Time to shine by Luo Tianyi where she becomes a figure skater at the end.

I personally don’t find the model used for polar to be bad, as someone who used to love Matel dolls and the shows alike. She’s just so bland. Her appearance really doesn’t assist how her music sounds or the lyrics behind it. She sort of reminds me of tofu, like the food; on its own it’s practically nothing, but it is able to take on the flavour of things around it. The lyrics to her songs seem disorganized, unrelated, or even just like general statements at times. I find the idea of the mask she wears interesting, but not for a virtual singer. I think it’s ok to have inspiration from other successful things, but not blatantly ripping them off (Miku clone) it’s so strange to me how much this looks like a soulless matel attempt at virtual singers. I’m half expecting a doll to be brutally honest.

As someone who has liked vocaloid for ages this rubbed me the wrong way, it feels like they’re trying to capitalize off of the years worth of successes and technological advancements made by other (mostly eastern) companies while not acknowledging them AT ALL. Not to mention the model and music feel like flimsy attempts at easy money since they feel like the west needs this niche filled? Ugh
It really is poor taste to not acknowledge anyone else. And there are already a few western companies that are doing it better than TheSoul Publishing anyway.

After listening to her music (because that’s what I really look at in a singer,) I think the company is trying to get a K-pop kinda mood. For me, K-pop isn’t my type of thing, but it’s not BAD. Yes, I do think it’s kinda infuriating for Meta to be doing this.

I don't really like how Polar's movements seem choppy as if someone used a type of Motion sensor on themselves to control her movements. I know VTubers do the same but they're a lot more smoother

The reason many hate Polar , including me , is because not only her design is a cheap tiktok "dancer" copy of Miku, but they advertise her like the "first virtual singer" as if vocaloid never existed , what about Miku in 2007? What about Meiko? The first Japanese vocaloid in 2004, now back at her design , not to mention that she looks like a child , yet she seems to be getting sexualized a lot , they'll never achieve what they want , Polar is just a cheap copy of vocaloid who tries too hard to seem original and fails miserably

Polar will never be better than the Squid Sisters, Off the Hook, or even Deep Cut in their first concert.
I actually encourage these people to try this. It's something that's unique to this world and with Vtubing and digital idols being as popular as they are right now (especially with Gen Z), I can see their inspiration and why they wanted to do this. However, They shouldn't have to bot up her social media like they have at the moment. not to mention they needed to build up her reputation and presence. Miku wasn't popular just at those concerts, she had songs beforehand. Gorillas weren't just popular overnight either, they had some albums out and built their way up to where they are now.
I encourage Polar to be in existence. however, I think their creators needed to be more aware of what it takes to build that strong foundation Like Miku and Gorillas (and even with KDA and how they were in existence before KDA was made). This isn't a 10-minute craft, it's the real world.
I'm always happy to see new VTubers, but the way the company is going about this is all wrong. They have a lot to learn.

@@MatrixAMch Oh absolutely, Kizuna was amazing, her finale show was incredible. Vshojo's performances as well, are spectacular. Even Iron Mouse performing "When I look at you" during her anniversary stream, had more impact then Polar. They're trying to come into an industry that already knows what it likes.
Imma say this cause this stood out to me. At the end, you say the targeted audience is younger people..I assume to be teens..but even then, I saw videos and comments from sed target audience critiquing the fact that the music makes no sense and the music videos are weird..but what openly caught me was the fact that in some of the videos, literally..their were beats that were conveniently similar to top songs like ‘Sweet but psycho’ and ‘7 rings’ mashed up or what not.
I apologize if I offend or sound rude. Yes, I do not like polar too. I don’t like many things about her..and the lack of ordinality to the character and content and more. Ultimately, I hope my opinion change with time. That Soul company could hand it over to someone whom can give the character more life and put genuine work into creating polar to be unique as well as the music. But that’s just me.
There are people whom love this star, and I’m not gonna judge em. But..I hope the Soul company do better cause yes, to many, they seemed to have made this character look like a wash-down clone of Hatsune Miku..as well as put little efforts into giving this character meaning..I fear that this character is gonna crumble and be left as a laughing gag for many to use. As well, I feel bad for the Actress that plays Polar..They must’ve gotten heavy backlash for this..it’s unfair.
As a Gorillaz Fan I'm just sitting here, eating my popcorn and watching everyone throw hate at Polar. It's silly.
