    From a carpenters perspective the micro bevel allows you to sharpen quicker because you only have to hone right at the edge and not grind back the whole bevel. That said, most carpenters I know just grind and hone 1 bevel at 25 degrees and that is for bashing with a mallet into seasoned soft and hardwoods. I really want this knife now. Thank you for a good review.

    Here in Sweden, You may purchase a 511 for under 50SEK (8 AUSD). So a box of them will last a couple of years, and You have not to bother about losing one, and they are HARD to destroy, so Mora every day!!! Keep it up!

      Would last a lot longer than that if they don't take the place of axes

    • @dmg4415
      @dmg4415 Před 6 měsíci

      @brianlash154 Depending on the tasks, you do not treat them as well as $40 and beyond. You could even have them laying around in different places to be at hand when needed, so a pair in the shed, in the workshop, in your carpenters kit and so on, and they may last more than 2-3 years then. A vet from Ukraine said that a couple of mora i best because you have no time to resharping you just ditch it and put on the next. They are used for everything!

      @@CedricAda 5:40 the reflections clearly shows a micro bevel. even though it is more like a natural hand grinding konvex. Or rather from stropping maybe.
      But after all, I think the tiny secondary is a big help in making this steel reliable.

  • @ry2456
    @ry2456 Před 3 lety +3

    Got the kansbol and bush craft black. The handle is the same shape on the Garberg as the kansbol. They got that handle wrong in my opinion. Feels restrictive front to back with a sharpish ridge at the front and back. The bcblack handle is all rounded edges. Also on the bcblack the sides of the handle near the blade thin down towards the blade making it comfortable to hold sideways. Surprised these concepts got missed on the newer knives design.

    I hate that I fucked mine up. I didn't know the difference between the grinds when I bought this knife. I was trying to sharpen it, couldn't get it sharpened for whatever reason. So I ended up putting a V edge on it. Like I locked it down and put a new bevel all the way down. Now I have a knife that doesn't slice or cut well and doesn't do carving tasks well.

If I do not with just regular use I will chip the edge I don't know if there is a higher than dirt content in our wood in my area. I do not baton with my Morris I use them for General cutting slicing feathersticking carving whittling, and not overly aggressive either and I will chip a true Scandi grind.

    I bought this knife a few weeks ago without knowing it is as good as it is :) I haven't used it yet, but the feeling to hold it is great.
    It's my second Mora. The Compagnion Stainless I used a few times. But with the Bushcraft you have a different feeling and it's light weight + very grippy.
    I would prefer it before the Garberg (even if I don't own it) because of the weight and the handling. You may use it also as a self defense weapon. I think there are few possible uses.

      And then i polish it with my wanna bee Dremel from the Action store. And i strop it. With my old leather belt.
      Sandpaper only cost about 80 cents. And i glue them on a piece of wood with paper glue, that white stuff that hardly sticks. But its more than adequate for the job.
