I WISH I went to CC out of high school now.. I'm transferring into CC from a state college at the moment because of financial issues but it's the best decision right now. I was not prepared at all for a state school, I did earn credits from a year and a half , but I also learned my major was not for me and am actually excited to explore a new interest at CC and become prepared to transfer into a different school I had no idea I would be interested in. So I believe CC is worth it!
Honestly when I was in high school I had that mentality of thinking about creating new friends, partying, etc, and was pretty bummed that I chose to go to CC, even when there was a state school option (only one cause my grades were awful). However, I'm in my second year at CC and at least at my CC, is really good in terms of environment and learning. What I further realized is just the level of maturity and freedom I obtained as I am older, only a year and a half after being 18. I truly appreciate making my own money working, and I feel as if going to CC provides me the ability to live a life I choose to, because theirs a lot of freedom in my opinion with the level of coursework, which is relatively easy, and how much time you have. Now what I really want to do now is such make as much money as possible, save money, and eventually do stuff like traveling, and the thought of constant college partying, etc kind of doesn't excite me as much. But im just speaking on my behalf, not every CC is the same, and many do suck. @Henry Zuniga Hernandez The money you pay going to a university all 4 years isnt going to be worth paying off alot of the time. And with FAFSA, you would probably be able to get community college for free.
I'm looking to go to CC because I come from an Upper-Middle class family, and have been a good student throughout my high school years. I've completed countless honors and AP classes, graduating with a near 4.0 and am looking to being admitted into top colleges in the country. However again, we are Upper-Middle class, and my parents are refusing to pay much for my college, leaving me with 120k in debt even if I go to state school. So community college, even though it hurts to realize my high school years didn't matter, would be a much more viable option. Then the complicated option comes, which is I can't have myself stay with my parents for another couple years as our relationship is not good whatsoever. But if I can just be resilient and live with my parents for another two years, go to CC, work part time and save up 25k or so, I'll hopefully be able to better afford finishing my college experience at a more prestigious university.
I literally relate so much. Me and my parents don’t get along and idk how I’m gonna move out if I do decide a CC. I got into my dream school and got TWO scholarships from it but it still wasn’t enough. I brought a 48k out of state school down to 25k which is great for an out of state school but that’s still 100k in debt. I’m upper middle class as well and they’re not helping me either. We’re in the home stretch and I’m so stressed about loans I don’t even have yet!!! CC and transfer is looking like the financially safe option.
Mai Yeah man in the end of the day it’s whatever is most financially sound. Update to my post, I’ve gotten into my dream schools however I’m almost 100% sure that I’m gonna go to my state school. already failed step 1 xD, chose the community college I could probably walk to from my family's house, chose some basic classes just a couple weeks before and didn't research professors at all. I've done better with the past semesters, but I still focus more on schedule rather than finding info on professors, since like well I need to take these classes
Thanks for this video. I am currently a senior and I am not sure what I want to major in. You think going to a cc if you're undeclared is a good idea? or would a gap year be rather safer?
Hi!! I'm also a senior and I'm in the same position as you, but I think going to a cc if you're undeclared is a good idea because you can take different classes for different majors to see what truly interests you because cc is not as expensive as a four year uni, because if you were to go to a uni, changing majors will cost you THOUSANDS and you'll waste all that time and money for nothing, and with cc you won't waste as much money. And with a gap year...I'm not too sure, we're all different and I'd probably not take it because in that gap year I'd probably start working and then we get so caught up in getting cash flow and then we just forget about school/studying and just set it aside and keep on working. But I hope you make the best decision for yourself! Wishing you the best of luck ^^
The universities here encourage cc first. Transfers drive up the university graduation rates. In some cases the university won't even accept you until you get a gen ed certification at cc college.
Im going to a university in the fall but I’m looking to transfer to a top 25 school. I thought it would be better chance if I transferred off this university it would give me a better chance since it looks better I would think on my application
It’s actually harder to get into some of the top 25 schools as a transfer. I suggest looking up the transfer admission rates compared to regular admission rates of the schools you’re interested in.
Antonio JJ well yeah but I already graduated so it was community college or a state school so I’m at a state school and hopefully will be able to transfer to a top 25
It’s doable but difficult. I don’t know if you’re in California but In my state, it’s easier to get into a top 25 school like UCLA, UC Berkeley, and USC as a CC transfer than a university transfer. The CCs work with the universities to help students transfer, and there’s even programs such as TAG (transfer admission guarantee) that basically gives you an automatic acceptance to a UC as long as you meet the requirements
This is first time I am watching your videos bt I think I am gonna watch all of your videos because all those topic is related to me.Thanks bro for those videos.😊
Ok I think I might have fell into advice 1 so Im taking basic classes simply due to the fact i really dont know what to do. If I went undecided and have no clue what I want to major in does this apply to advice 1?
Hey man! Wonderful video. I'd like to follow the advice to not do what others say, but I really want to get other past CC/private college students' testimonials to get a better idea personally which (when you weigh financial options vs. experience) options are better, and whether I'm even looking at them the right way or not. It's just better for me to assess my real chances and learn which one I would be better off with. My family didn't go to college in the U.S., so we know very limited people I can talk to. Does anyone have any tips? I really appreciate it ❣
Very similar to me in how I got into UC Santa Cruz and UC Davis but now attending cc (luckily I have family at SoCal so I’m living with them as opposed to staying at home)
I got into UC Berkeley (my dream school) and all of the UC’s and CSU’s I applied to, though I am considering going into community college because I don’t feel mentally prepared for the competitive environment at Berkeley, and I also want a shot at USC, should I go to Berkeley and put up with the 4 years ( I also got a full ride for this year) or go to community and then transfer back to Berkeley or USC just to feel more prepare and be close to home
my parents wouldn’t let me go to an out of state community college bc of the out of state tuition so now i applied to one of the in state community colleges in VA and i haven’t been happy about the decision

I’m attending cc right now and living at home really isn’t working out great for me. Is it possible to try to transfer to a UC before I finish 2 years?
Yeha I was bout to say, the only way you would have been able to graduate cc in one year is if you dual enrolled your second semester of your senior year in high school, then take summer classes before your fall semester and be full time for that one year. Associates degree is 60 credits and cc students typically earn 8-15 credits per semester(depending on your schedule) But you can always transfer to a university before completing your associates so long as you have completed at minimum 24 credit hours.

It’s easier, one of his last videos covers this.
Just check rate my professor. Look for professors who teach online classes and get get good reviews for those online classes
make the best of it, the biggest struggle will probably be self motivation but you can do it
@@jaydig3288 That only applies to professors who teach only online or predominantly online. ALL classes are online so how is one supposed to know which professors have a history of teaching online? Rate my professor is very misleading right now because all courses are virtual. An in-person teacher can be really great but subpar online. Or, vice-versa.
remember what youre there for!
Going to CC in fall
You kept it real👆
you the real G
already failed step 1 xD, chose the community college I could probably walk to from my family's house, chose some basic classes just a couple weeks before and didn't research professors at all.
Good luck
@@KRHEE 😄
I love your energy, dude.
Exactly what I needed to hear. Thank you
Loved this video I feel less shitty about cc
cc not too bad .. just gotta get it over w quick
Dammn is hard to hear that, thanks god I learned that early.
Love the cole in the backround
Good ear 😀
Ok I think I might have fell into advice 1 so Im taking basic classes simply due to the fact i really dont know what to do. If I went undecided and have no clue what I want to major in does this apply to advice 1?
Came across your channel just in time I’m abt to binge
I really appreciate it ❣
thank you, i needed this
Do I have to provide proof of my extra-curriculars to Stanford?
Very similar to me in how I got into UC Santa Cruz and UC Davis but now attending cc (luckily I have family at SoCal so I’m living with them as opposed to staying at home)
Great video, very helpful !
Np
I got into UC Berkeley (my dream school) and all of the UC’s and CSU’s I applied to, though I am considering going into community college because I don’t feel mentally prepared for the competitive environment at Berkeley, and I also want a shot at USC, should I go to Berkeley and put up with the 4 years ( I also got a full ride for this year) or go to community and then transfer back to Berkeley or USC just to feel more prepare and be close to home
wow i needed this
Thanks
my parents wouldn’t let me go to an out of state community college bc of the out of state tuition so now i applied to one of the in state community colleges in VA and i haven’t been happy about the decision
which community college did u go to? i also live in Virginia and I was planning on going to nova
@@angiegutie8665 ooooo what a coincidence! i go to CVCC, and i went to NOVA for Spring 2021 semester. but didn’t really like NOVA for some reason. i like CVCC better than NOVA, no offense!
hii i know this comment is really old but can i ask why you weren’t happy going to cc in virginia? im on my first semester at VPCC (in hampton area) and im loving it so far
@@fl0pZ3 hi, Idr why I wasn’t happy with it bc it’s been a while and I’m not comfortable sharing it with a stranger. Sorry
@@feliciatran5667 that’s fine lol
I’m attending cc right now and living at home really isn’t working out great for me. Is it possible to try to transfer to a UC before I finish 2 years?
I think they require a minimum of 60 units but I'm not entirely sure
Why isn't it working out great
bro thank you
Had to sub, ur too cool
Bane did not beat Batman. Joker defeated Bane in the well in Europe
So there aren’t a lot of parties and easy to make new friends at a CC? Cus i’m only staying for 1 year so im tryna have as much fun as possible
U tryna go to CC for partying? 😂😂
Good advice forsure
solid
is it possible to graduate from community college in one year
It’s possible
I’m finishing my associates in one year. I started in my senior year with DE classes and plan on transferring
Thank you
You’re welcome
Thank u!
I mean, I like my community college...
CC is cheaper !
How are you paying for the education now? A scholarship?
I graduated already. Paying off my loans monthly .. completely doable
