The Godzilla is more narrow because the heads are not as big being the cam is in the block just like you said. But another big reason the pushrod, cam in block engines are more narrow is they are traditionally 60 degree V8s where the cylinder banks are a 90 degree design in the mod motors. The wider cylinder V angle plus the bigger over head cam heads make the mod motor way wider. All the common domestic pushrod V8s are 60 degree cylinder banks, the LS, Windsor, gen 1 SBC, big block Chevy, big block Ford and all the Chrysler V8s are 60 degree. The mod motor is the only domestic V8 I know of with a 90 degree V.

a 1994 4.6 2 valve... I read that everything in it is cast steel, even the pistons. makes 165 wheel horse power... so I put a little turbo on it, makes -2psi of boost in park at 5200rpm. if its a combination of elevation, rev limiter ignition cut or other... when the automatic transmission shifts the air is still there, not sure how fast the reaction based OBDII emissions corrections are, read it's 40Mhz divided by the chain of sensors... still over 6Mhz. anyways that's still a +8psi gear shift that the mechanical gauge might not have time to react to, though 6Mhz on a thermal/mechanical exhaust/intake sensor. thermometer reads the temperature on a Tuckey fairly quick, careful not to melt the now 28 year old exhaust sensors "there's 4 of them". think one is a primary and the other is a secondary, so if the primary goes out it wont drive good unless its run upto the point that even an analog ecu could have a switch that cycles to the secondary sensors under higher engine load. not sure if the exhaust sensor detecting heat causes the fuel pulse to become longer to cool down the engine, but if I made an engine management system that only had a exhaust heat sensor... It would put in more fuel to cool down the cylinders, until the O2 sensors say no more... ... ... on a graphing calculator that would be a timing plot for each sensor input that is modified by the next sensor in the chain. and is it that, ECU is a multi core graphing calculator? Calculus's calculators aren't cheep ether. but in a automotive application, all tuning becomes mechanical. chevy of the same year only had a singular two wire sensor in the exhaust, fords got four... whole fuel map run off nothing but the tps rpm and heat sensor, a analog fuel injector circuit capacitors transistors and resistors, faster the key wheel on the engine turns the higher the voltage drop on the transistor is... like a guitar amplifier but that distortion switching is dialed in to oculate when the injector needs to go off, worked for a duel injector TBI, no timing really... vague blur of over there without pointing or looking.
If i had gone to electrical engineering classes... might have picked up some more stuff but oh well. start taking chemistry and hand grow the crystals for the transistors from recycled computer tech.
I wonder if the ECU can have a calculus's function that without a flex fuel sensor can identify the speed of the flame front around a startup sequence that adjusts the ignition timing until it reaches a target rpm. techy?
I planted some potatoes yesterday morning, thinking about cleaning out the deep fryer this fall.

@@brad3378 you can disagree. Maybe people will take on this engine differently.
GM hasn’t stopped making medium/heavy duty trucks but the 8.1 engine has been discontinued for over a decade at this point. It was basically a 496 (8.1) big block with LS style heads and long runner intake much like this Godzilla engine. The Godzilla and Vortec 8.1 were both designed for trucks.
One of the biggest issues with that GM engine was fitting the oil pan in car frames. No one ever made an oil pan to fit car frames. A few people chopped/welded the cast aluminum oil pan but those builds have been few and far between.

Can't beat the OHV design. Nice to see Ford revisit the old school design. It's substantially less complicated than the overhead cam designs to work on and modify. Due to price, ease to work on and also punch provided are the reasons why the LS is the most popular engine swap out there(again OHV). The coyote is a impressive performer but face it, it's a bit light in the ass in the torque department. Still even for today, displacement is still a big factor.

@@baby-sharkgto4902 I assume judging by your GTO profile pic your a GM fan. GM stuck with the OHV design and continued with the LS as you know, and starting in 1996 Mustang line uncle Henry walked away from the OHV architecture starting with the 4.6 and by doing so a number of mustang fans back then jumped ship and went with the LS1 cars GM had. A Ford fan like myself reading my comment and being an OHV guy in particular would understand my delight in the development of the OHV Godzilla powerplant!👍 By the way, the coyote is a D.O.H.C. engine, and NOT an O.H.V. !

this motor wont be common in a show\cruise type car for a while, but, the ford racing community is going nuts for the godzilla motor. it will quickly become the dominant motor when it comes to competition. even Paul Svnickey a mod motor guy is switched over, and lovin it.
TeamZ has a godzilla K member and solid motor mounts in stock ready to go,
Brian Wolfe is making several different cam profiles, and offers CNC head porting and engine assembly for godzilla 7.3s, theres already aftermarket intakes and front timing cover\dress available from Indy power products.
it bolts up to any bellhousing\trans behind a ford mod motor including coyotes
theres no substitute for cubic inches, period. godzilla can go over 500ci. and its WAY smaller in size than a coyote.
coyote motors are great, but the godzilla is gonna be way better.
