QUEEN - Mother Love (vocal version)

  • A vocal only version of 'Mother Love', released on the 1995 album 'Made In Heaven'. Recorded at the Queen Studio Experience, Montreux, in September 2015. Featuring photographs of Freddie's statue beside Lake Geneva and some beautiful sunsets.
This was Freddie's last song, recorded in May 1991, but even so, it features an amazingly powerful vocal. Edited slightly to avoid a lengthy gap during Brian's solo.
See also my other post featuring a fully instrumental version of the track.

The last word uttered by Freddie to be recorded ever, was "love." Remember that

It's possible or he could have sang something in the first verse last. At this time he was singing as he was writing so who knows what order the vocals were in?

He sounds so tired then pulls out that hard rasp. Brian said he stopped after that and said he’d finish next time but never made it back to the studio. The man was drained, dying, a shell and still had that “It” factor. God bless that man

You can hear the music very faintly in the background, however, according to Dave Richards, Freddie dang with only a metronome to keep time. I wonder if he came up with the melody line and they wrote the music around him?

lighthouse01 are you sure 6 months? Slightly Mad was filmed in May of 91. According to the book Somebody to Love, Freddie flew back from Montreux while recording Made In Heaven. I believe he came home a few weeks to a month before he died. I think he gave up all the lifesaving drugs while in Montreux and only stayed on the pain meds until the end. Not sure of the timeline but I don’t think it was long.
