Fiat cars are continually underrated and the Panda is no exception. On Italian roads around lake Como/Garda and up in the Dolomites the Panda or 500L/X are the only cars to own. Brilliant, economical and virtually indestructible plus in the unlikely event of a breakdown the local blacksmith can fix all but the specialist jobs.
The little Fiat is the clear winner in this video. Why?
Notice how the Panda has managed to pass every part of the review. Although the big Merc has the clear size, power, torque, and 4x4 system advantage, the little Fiat managed to do all of the above. In fact, it is almost embarrassing for the ostentatious Mercedes… to be chased, albeit not passed, by a tiny car a fraction of its size, that costs a fraction to buy, run, insure, and maintain.
The Panda 4x4 is an excellent car. I have a 15 plate diesel version, and although not quick, it is astonishingly capable in every terrain I have presented to it.
I once found myself slipping on a wet, not too wide, 2 lanes road in my Panda 4x4 while exiting the curve, probably 'cause I was going .. a bit too fast (80-90 km/h). I'm just a 21 years old Italian dude with no driving experience in those conditions, and I instinctively reacted to control the vehicle. I must say, the Panda behaved beautifully, and I just did a 180 ending in the opposite lane (lucky me, nobody was coming). I would have probably hit the guard rail on the side of the road with any other car. That humble car has a lot to offer. On a side note, it's so much fun to drive off road :D
I'd rather have the panda, it's got character in buckets and provides 4x4 capabilities to people who live and work in the countryside at an affordable price whereas the G wagon is almost exclusively bought by people who will never take it off-road, shame really considering how capable it is.
I rent Panda when I was at Canary Islands. It's a great car, espacially to drive serpentine roads
In my country the mercedes costs at least 8x the price of the panda 4x4, so if you don't need a big german car to show everybody you're a man, you can save a lot of money and do off road on a very capable small car.

I remember this test was in car magazine once.
I live rural ,tow heavy loads, have a wheel chair,a large family and large dog so I need my old safari series 3 landrover.
Best 4x4 in the world for all of the above and expedition work.
If not for all of the above I would quite happily have a panda though I probably would feel cramped and uncomfortable on long journeys.
I would love to see how a panda copes with ice,snow and muddy rainy british roads.
The one thing that would worry me is an impact collision in a panda.
Panda is perfect on snow ice, mud, you name it, the fact that it is light, helps. .. first few series were even lighter, I saw an old one from the scientists who work on top of Vesuvius vulcano, pretty steep there ... Obviously loads, passengers, tow is much smaller than my Defender 110
But the question is
Who's going to buy one and use it off-road

The solid front axle is what makes the mercedes better not all the other stuff although it does help nothing is better for off road then solid beam axles.
in america you cannot get a g-class for less than $100,000 and it has upwards of 382 horsepower (0-60moh in 6 seconds for non AMG).
Comparing a cherry with a christmaspudding, then nagging about the cherry being slower and smaller than the bulky pudding? Just crazy.

nel video in questione,a mio modesto parere,non hanno fatto del vero 4x4,quelle trazzere si possono serenamente fare con una fiat 127 del 73.
se mettessero delle vere pendenze e del vero fuoristrada la panda ,per quanto versatile , resterebbe molto indietro. avrebbe molti + limiti ,che il mercedes supererebbe senza problemi.

2 auto completamente diverse mercedes e un carrarmato non si ferma mai ed e affidabile e sale da per tutto ma se si blocca o si impantana e un po un casino a rimorchiarlo o tirarlo fuori un bestione del genere non so se mi spiego panda fa il suo dovere io dovessi usarla su off-road sceglierei mercedes ma anche panda non e male per chi non vuole spendere una cifra enorme la panda e comunque molto valida e rapporto qualità prezzo e nettamente superiore poi ce anche la versione panda cross che e la miglior versione 4x4

Panda all day long! Far more practical, easier to park, more economical, fun to drive, reliable and low maintenance costs, rugged, Italian flair and style, tons more character and it will go anywhere!
In my opinion the merc just looks boring, like a big square box on wheels, has zero character.
Take a drive in both these across a busy city and I'll think you'll find the Panda effortless and nimble, you'll get there with a huge grin on your face.⚠️👍😎😁
