The owner of Enxi just sent me this email . You can not ask for more than this.
Hi Phillip
Thanks very much for your review.
So there is three problems for the guitars need.
1,strings tree ,we will send free string tree to customers
2, Switch ,we already order new switch from Hosco ,will change them
3, Volume and tone knob,I will add the brass case as you use for all guitars
Thanks again for your help
This is awesome to hear - that kind of responsiveness to honest criticism is hard to find and really refreshing. Definitely missing from the bigger brands.
That is amazing
Ask them if they will sell the bridge separately. :)
That brass sleeve tip made this video worth watching for me. Looks like the Enxi owner learned a few things as well
I respect the fact that the owner of company truly took your constructive criticisms to heart and made appropriate shifts in construction.
I really like how that bridge look. Gives off a vintage aesthetic vibe with modern improvements.
I have owned one for a while now. Absolutely love it. I have always had a fantastic experience dealing with Mo at Enxi over the last few years. Quick to reply to questions, and never had any question unanswered in a way that was easy to follow.
It looks and sounds nice, but I agree with some of the other folks commenting here. There are probably more than a dozen guitars I'd buy for $1k before testing out this one.
That is the point of this reviews. Put them in the radar and someone looking for something similar would think about it.
@Get Off My Lawn Oh yeah now you're talking!
Love that bridge. The adjustments look like you can really dial it in. Congrats to the shop on making a beautiful instrument!
The bridge is so nice, i dig it from the first time i saw it in their IG. Now, this video convinced me that it's really nice
Excellent in-depth evaluation Phil.
And a positive response from Enxi, kudos to them.

12:38 I knew Phil would like the leather pouch
I know it has a lot to do with your playing and amp choice, but that Tele sounded great.

I like the way it sounds.
I have used a lot of tonerider pickups, their rocksong humbuckers and their hot 90s (p90) are very good, to the point i have replaced some dimarzios and seymour duncans with them. Definitely worth checking out, i like the rocksong for heavy stoner/sludgey stuff weirdly enough.
It’s awesome to see these brands brought up. I would not know where to start with brands like these
Dang I literally had to walk away from from the phone for a few minutes as I was already watching your vids and this popped up!
Another good video Phil, always love to hear you, love from portugal
I did not know about those brass sleeve things! Just found them in the UK so I can sort that issue on a couple of my guitars. Happy days lol
I have to agree with you Phil, any guitar around $1000 is a big ask for a lot of folks. I don't own a single guitar which cost more than $700, so the $1000 plateau isn't even realistic unless some serious good fortune comes my way. IF I could afford a guitar at that price, I'd buy a used American made guitar or a high-end import guitar, or even a Player Plus Telecaster because they are great guitars. That said, I really like the color and the roasted maple neck on this one.
Great review Phil. Thanks for the close ups on the bridge. I would love to have one of those on my tele.
Can't unsee the first position fret marker now 👀
Very intriguing guitar. I'd love to try one.
I really like the modern take on these guitars. If it was made by Fender Mexico for this price I would be ordering one. Nothing against Chinese guitars but at that price I need to see and play one first.
Just to add to the thread. I received mine about three weeks ago. Vwry nice guitar. Fit and finish wlis perfect, perfect frets. Pickups are great though I may try a HB in the bridge. The only issues I see is the bridge. It's proprietary and those saddles pop off if the string breaks and was not torqued down tight enough. So if you lose it you're out of luck. I emailed the owner and he is going to send me a few extras. Finally, I'll share my thoughts on how it compares to any Fender Tele in roughly the same price category....some folks below asked. I own two MIA Telecasters and the main difference is the neck. The Enxi is better than any Fender product I've played. Everything else is personal preference but the neck is leaps and bounds a better feel. Considering prices today a grand isn't so bad.
I got different toneriders in a couple of guitars all of them great. I love the humbucker sized p90.
They build a fine made instrument !
Didnt know about the brass sleeves, interesting
Looks like a good alternative for people who want Shur-esque guitar but can't afford one
I have a Tonerider alnico 2 PAF style in the neck position in my CV Squier 60s custom and it is epic. Very warm sounding and great value.
That is an awesome value, especially with the swag, although I think it is better priced (at least initially) at about $850
Not sure why folks think it’s too expensive. If you want a neck flatter than 9.5” you’ll need about $1000 for a Fender Nashville. Want stainless frets too? Now you are at $2k or more for an ultra. Roasted maple and chambered body? Gotta move to Suhr or Anderson at over $3k OR an AZS for $2k put somewhat polarizing looks. No I think this is priced competitively. Just tough to demo it but these days everything is tough to demo there’s no inventory or stores don’t want to stock high end, just special order
If you’re looking for a guitar with high end appointments. 1000 bucks isn’t bad against the 200 plus fro top line fender or the 3000 plus they get for custom shop.
I'm really curious what their relationship is with Shijie. I remember seeing that Enxi was at one point a distributor for Shijie, but Shijie dropped them and even put out a statement saying as much a year or two ago. Now Enxi's putting out their own guitars. Might just be speculation on my end, but it feels like something weird happened there.
I caught that vibe too.
yes,,we sale shijie before ,but we also respect shijie's choice to keep them business by themselves ,business is business
@@Mark-OutWest yes,just different choice
I think those pickups sound pretty amazing and that bridge looks nice.
My eye kept going to that gold Tele over Phillip’s right shoulder. What’s the scoop with that? Beauty
Beautiful guitar worth a look/play...
Im curious how they compare to the Shijie Tele (TLV-R/M). Both high end China guitars.
Eastman is also a higher end, China-based brand.
i also second this!
Shijie just took a big price increase ($200) which may be a factor for some people
Looks nice but it would have to be a keeper, the depreciation on resale value would be a killer
Nice features but if they want to break in and get a piece of the market $800 would be the right price, but there's shipping cost from China on top of that. Shijie started out around 800 (plus shipping) but after their name got out they went up in price and are no longer the deal they once were. Only China made guitars that interest me are Eastman, more money but quality is worth it.
Like the sound of that. I really don't like the scratchy sound of vintage T pups. I put a hot Fender set in my American Tele. My Bridge Pup is around a 15 resistance Number. But I want to put the Vintage style neck Pup back in. The original neck pickup has a sweeter woody tone then the hotter one I put in.
On a Squier, a thinner body denotes it's budget status and gets criticism as a result. And yet you can get the same on a much more expensive guitar (body material withholding). Tone Rider pickups too - on the original Classic Vibe guitars!
Even with he points you mentioned,i would be happy with my purchase if it was little bit over $1000. Cool guitar
Sounds cool
I'd definitely test-drive that bridge for one of my Telecaster builds. It does address a few "problems" with the OEM bridge, but man, the 3 x 2 bridge also has it's own sound.
I see you snuck in a Sharpen My Axe segment
I don't know very much about guitars, but that set-screw-meets-split-shaft thing kind of blows my mind, even on a $300 Squier. Like, you buy a guitar and one of the knobs starts falling off-hey, it happens! So, the obvious answer is to tighten the set screw-i.e., the screw whose job it is to make sure the knob stays tight on the shaft. Obviously, duh! But on one of these guitars, that won't work-it just crushes the two halves of the split shaft together and basically ruins your pot (or the shaft of it, anyway).
Like I said, I'm an idiot, but it just seems obvious to me this is a stupid idea, and I'm sort of stunned that anyone whose job it is to make guitars (*cough*Squier*cough*) would put it into production like it was obviously fine. And it's even worse to find out someone did it on a $1000 (sorry, $998-my mistake) guitar!
I moved to the high-end Chinese market and never looked back. Own a Shiji STN strat and it is probably the best strat I played. Also have an Eastman t384 which is a wonderful instrument as well.
I have to mention though that the pickups was replaced in both guitars (Shijie to a custom Lindy Fralin set and the Eastman came with Mojotone 59's).
I bought both for 850~ after tax.
You in the US? Where did you get them for those prices?
@@PatCaseyLA live in the US, and bought from Reverb. t384 is 999 new so I bought second hand. I did get the Shijie new though.
Nice guitar. If they want to market at 1K, then they need to include a hard case. That would make them more appealing. Thank you Phillip
Then it would cost more.
I hear ya, but these days I actually prefer a hi end gig bag to a case. So much easier so schlep around at practice or a gig. And often the really nice gig bags are more expensive than a standard hard shell. This looks like pretty nice, durable bag.
Beautiful color and the dark neck compliments it. Sounded very nice and that bridge does seem interesting. Thanks for the demo Phil. Always good stuff.
Ooh, future KYG branded tele bridge?!
As others have said in different ways - $74 pickups in a $1000 guitar is offensive to my sensibilities, as is the improper pot shafts for the knobs, again, on a $1000 guitar. The case swag doesn't make up for that kind of thing, in my book. Hey, we already have lots of picks at home.
A very nice design, on a real American classic. I like the thin part of this guitar, the neck looks very good and the saddles are very new from what I’ve seen… The price is still too high for this guitar, I would like to feel this and check it out, I’d feel more comfortable for this to be in the 700-800 range and they would probably sell a bunch. I’m impressed by the saddles as a new concept but I have a bunch of Teles that stand up to the price tag! Just my opinion…
I love mine.
That's a nice guitar. I can get the MIM for the same price.
Nice looking guitar
A lot of $ for a guitar from China, and if they are trying to compete with $3k models
they will need to smooth out the fret ends.
The bridge is a big improvement on a telecaster bent metal types, if they started
making these available at a sensible price they would be a great upgrade.
I like the slim body and neck, these will make it more comfortable to play compared
to standard models.
At a lower price i would be tempted, but there are some excellent lower priced models
from the likes of ESP Ltd available.
I really like this. Honestly at the 1k price maybe even more with all you get extra. I mean that is kind of setting the standard. The guitar is awesome, that bag case is outstanding. The tools though in that nice holder. Yes please, your lucky with some 1k guitars to get plastic bag with couple Allen wrenches in it. This is nice. Had I not just bought a new guitar last week I would order this now. I certainly wish them luck. This made my list of ones to try.
G&L, done!
i use to hate this style of guitar but it's grown on me so i'll purchase a Firefly one which will be good quality for about 200 bucks
Was that just pantyhose you were using to check the frets?
Unfailingly, the utmost best about KYG are the reviews. Proficient. Lay-person friendly. 👍🏼🤘🏻
Sounds and looks great :) Having said that... I already have some Fender Teles...so... ;)
I could plug my parts tele into that same amp and it would sound identical. I could plug a Squier tele into that same amp and get the same results
I appreciate that Phil emphasised that this guitar comes from a small shop. There is this stereotype that anything made in the east must inherently be made in a miserable gray superfactory and anything in the US is made by passionate Johnny American with his big beard and the tools his pappy left him.
This stereotype is becoming less and less true, especially as Chinese people are increasingly exposed to western music and getting into guitar culture themselves as luthiers and gear nerds.
LOL!
I love the concept... but when you can easily get a used in perfect shape, made in the USA Fender Telecaster at this price... I do not think I would consider this one.
Price is not great but I love love the design! Pickups are pretty damn amazing too because what you described and sound wise is basically what I look for! I really like this guitar and would love to see one of these one day In person!
Yes, I would buy that bridge as an upgrade for a squier/charvel/fender or other brand that makes teles with those barrel saddles.
Interesting, I do have issues with that ultra bright bridge pickup yeah. That's also why I can't have a JB without a tone control, I need to be able to tame it down a bit for some sounds, especially coil tapped.
I was most impressed with the case/gig bag and included accessories. It seems, as many have mentioned, there are a plethora of exceptional guitars living in this price range, but none come with all those extras
I always thought SGs were huge and bulky until I saw one in person for the first time. They are VERY THIN
Great review, Phil!
Honestly, you can get a made in Canada/USA Godin version of a Telecaster for around the same price or cheaper. I would rather buy that then this Chinese version.
At present no prices on website
I don’t like dots on the first fret lol the saddles are cool tho 😂😂😂
Great review! I was intrigued by the Tone Rider pickups, not so much by the guitar though!
I really like this presentation ....The bridge being different and if it holds well in tune and benefits the playing that's great. Something I'd buy over a fender due to price to performance and all. Great job here Phil. Send it over and I'll see how it likes my ambient blues weird novice playing. Hahahah
You'd really buy this over a player plus?
@@tymattheu4820 I would ...but that's not to discredit fender. I like to try new designs ...but I have MIM and etc already that I won't let go of. Heheh
hum for that price i would buy a good brand name just in case i wanted som of my money back...... if i did not like it if i got it. only issue i see with these types of guitars. you either love it or hate it.
Same, I'll pass thanks. What a certificate of authenticity worth from a company nobody's ever heard of? Unfortunately this is the new thing I've seen from China and even western unknowns to "legitimize" their products price. At best, that's a $300 guitar.
Just with the added goodies and the great gig bag that guitar would be worth $900, theres plenty of guitars that are a few hundred extra that don’t come with anywhere near that added value.
Nice, but I'd be more likely to click "add to cart" for about $700, tops.
Id go for one if i were looking for a tele
The voice of knowledge, honesty & truth has spoken ;^) - In Phil We Trust! You are right, the pickups do have a certain charm to them.
Cool guitar! Very timely vid Phil! There is one of these currently on my local FB marketplace (NYC) asking $1000 OBO. It's not the right instrument for me at this time (got my eye on a LP type thing and already have 2 Tele's) but it sure is pretty!
@@ibanezprestigeboy there you go. It's gorgeous and has La Brea pickups installed.
I just don't know. This vid comes up at the same time Fender is selling Player Teles, Lake Placid Blue Made in Mexico Specials no less, for $699.......that's $300 left over for custom pickups and a branded hard case.
Great video, my American Tele came with ZERO tools, and a crappy gig bag.
I just bought this guitar from Zimm`s guitars when I found out this was the one you used to own. How cool is that?
Have you played an Eart tele style guitar? They are on Amazon.
The guitar looks and sounds great and I'm glad to see that the company is responding to your opinion. With that being said if I'm going to spend over 1k (after tax and shipping) it's most likely going to be a Fender, Gretsch or a boutique/custom made. Though, that is admittedly more of a decision based on brand bias then anything else.
price included shipping and tax ,
Great video! I thought all the extras you get were really cool but a little disappointed to see that they opted for no string trees. Thanks Phil!
Phil, thanks for the tip about the the brass sleeves.
Before I can fit them, however, I first have to get the vol and tone knobs off my guitar. Even with the grub screws loosened / removed they won't come off.
It's as if they are stuck on. Any tips to get them off.
Try heating the knobs with hair dryer then quickly pry them from the bottom with a sturdy plastic lever to avoid marking the body/plate.
@@tog2842 yes, heating up the metal may work. Thanks for the advice.
However, like Phil, I don't own a hairdryer! I'll have to think of an alternative heat source.
I've tried spaying lubricant into the grub screw holes and then prying the knobs off, but they still don't come off.
So I'll try heating the metal. 👍
bridge looks like ABM 3250 model
Brass sleeve, brilliant.
That looks cool - Phil, how would you compare it to a Suhr (I know that’s apples and oranges, but thought I would ask)?
Sir can you please do a review on a guitar call Soloking
I can’t imagine it having a great resale value. But who knows.
Nice to see a Tele with a belly cut and a neck joint relief. You play it just right.
👍🤘
I just spent a lot of money on the professional series Tele,….did I make the wrong decision?
@lifelongfan07 Your Fender will retain its value. This guitar? Who knows…. IMHO you can’t go wrong with an Fender American Telecaster…. Enjoy your new rig and don’t look back.
You have a far superior instrument. Enjoy having the real thing, and it will always be the real thing.
I wonder how it will fare sitting on a container ship for and extra month or two? I’d love to get one, or a Shijie, but I’d be nervous ordering anything right now.
we ship by UPS,arrive to your hand in 15 days
is that a Rx Bandits shirt?
Its a band called Roxanne. I really dig them.
Hard pass… if I am going to drop $1G on a guitar, it will be on a Fender. Thank you for the review though… it will be interesting to see what this company does in the future.
The guitar has $72 pickups in it (which doesn’t mean anything negative) but $72 pickups, $50 for pots, and $400 for a great neck, doesn’t add up to $1,000. At best this should be $600 tops. More like $400… but $600 would likely be a fair market price all said and done.
Fender player plus is currently 1000dollars
That was a good video. I like these kinds of videos.
Two words for guitar makers like these. American Distributor. I though about a Shijie but every time I went to the website it felt like I was on the dark web trying to buy dope or have my identity stolen.
Great review! Great service, their note says they are really trying!! Unfortunately I'm a "fat neck" player, and that's the reason I shy away from other brands with very thin necks. I know a lot of people like them, and I wish them the best with their guitar line! 8) JMHO --gary
