    I admit, I always cringe to hear young kids sing such blatantly sexual material, but there's no denying that these kids are incredibly talented -- as is whoever handles their arrangements. Fantastic harmonies.

    I just wanted to thank you. I have been watching your videos for a few months now and previously believed i was unable to sing. As in physically unable, since singing for more than a minute or two caused worsening pain in my throat and my voice would start breaking really badly. After hearing you explain the mechanics of how singing works so many times i now think have spent my whole life singing in a very tense headvoice while trying to compensate for how light it sounds by increasing the volume. I have been trying for trying to reach chestvoice and strain throat less for the past few weeks and i think i (hopefully) managed to do it for the first time today. It at least felt like my voice was coming from my chest (it got a lot deeper as well) and i sang for a lot longer than i think i ever have before and it didn’t hurt at all. So thank you for teaching me how to sing.❤️💐

      I'll add my praise, I'm in an amateur folk band, where I'm expected to sing, but without any voice quality pretentions. This channel has led me to give less importance to how I hear myself, and more to where and how I feel myself sing. I'm at the point where i get really loud at some points, to my own amazement, since I just keep focusing on relaxation, so it doesn't really make sense... I'm really lucky to have both these videos and a practice means...

      Ida - it sounds like perhaps you were pushing yourself to sing in a higher range than is comfortable for you - as another woman who has a deeper singing voice (as in tenor rather than even alto, let alone anywhere close to mezzo-soprano or soprano) it can be very frustrating to feel as though you just can't hit those high notes well/at all. I hope you're starting to enjoy singing lower. I didn't really get the whole head voice/chest voice thing until I started watching Sam either, and he actually gave me the confidence to start singing a little after listening to the people around me telling me I am completely tone deaf for decades. Turns out I'm absolutely not, at all - I refused to listen to myself sing for years and when I finally did? Yeah, it was pretty rough but I was at least in tune aside from when I reached the top end of my range and was a fraction flat. It was a revelation honestly because I know my sense of pitch it good for other things - I played the violin for years, got to grade 6, as well as flute and a smattering of guitar. I know when a note isn't on key. So, honestly, I have no idea why those people in my family decided to be so harsh to me (especially considering they aren't particularly musical or able to sing) but I'm still working on letting anyone else hear me sing. At least I'm starting though - so all the best, and keep up what you're doing.

    Your videos showed up in my recommendations and I’m really glad they did. These videos are a lot of fun to watch. I usually don’t watch react videos since they tend to be over the top and really have no substance. But you go over everything very well, and I’ve learned a lot of interesting things I never knew before. One react video I would love for you to do is Jane Zhang and her rendition of the Fifth Element Diva song. It just gives you goosebumps to listen to it. Anyway, thanks so much for the videos and I can’t wait to see more!

    @sweeperboy Před 5 lety +5

    Hey Sam, I completely agree with you on this video. I'm actually interested to hear you expand on what you mentioned about handling the change in boys' voices as they change, and I was wondering if you could do a dedicated video on that with some famous examples of young singers who've grown up in the spotlight (MJ, Donny Osmond, JB spring to mind, but I'm sure there are others), and what you - as a voice teacher - would do to manage that change.
    I've heard, for instance, that if handled well, it's possible for a boy to keep his upper registers into adulthood to some extent, even when he develops the lower registers as his larynx drops. Someone like Dimash might be an example of that.

    THANK YOU SAM for speaking about lip synching in these types of videos! If they or any artist put out a video like this it is EXPECTED to be lip synched. If anywhere in the title or descr4stated it was a LIVE performance than it will be EXPECTED that NO lip synching was done!
    I would like to know your opinion on singers using background tracks while singing LIVE?

    • @JustAnotherBuckyLover
      @JustAnotherBuckyLover Před 5 lety

      I'm not Sam, obviously... but what kind of background track? Like, with some songs, there are often more vocal parts and harmonies than there are singers - or if they're going out on stage solo and there are harmonies, then obviously, they'd need a background track with the harmony parts if they wanted to have those. I don't really see that's a problem personally as long as they're singing the main melody live... I mean, it's just an alternative to have a whole bunch of other singers come on stage/tour right? You're not paying to hear THEM sing, generally, you're paying to hear the main artist, so IMO I don't really mind if they have a pre-recorded singing part to cover that. And obviously, if the studio version of the song has two people (say, for example, Pink - Just Give Me A Reason) then you're gonna need a pre-recorded version of the male parts because they're not gonna necessarily have Nate Ruess present for every single performance. Ditto if the singer has made a track in the studio that uses their own voice singing multiple parts (as Queen were known to do) then it may be necessary to use pre-recorded tracks to fulfil SOME of those parts when performing live. So yes, I guess it really depends what you mean by "backing track" and how much of the singing is pre-recorded, and why.

    These kids remind me to have fun whole singing and not focus so hard on if I sound perfect or not and letting that affect my worth as a singer. These kids have a great ear for the harmonies and we’re having a great time up there.

    Hey Sam, love your reaction videos, they are awesome! It would be great if you could do some reaction videos on groups like Def Leppard, Bon Jovi, Poison, Motley Crue (Saints of Los Angeles ) and the likes. Also being from New Zealand, would love your reaction on some kiwi singers / groups - Crowded House, Devilskin, Fat Freddy's Drop, Dave Dobbyn, The Exponents, Shihad, Brooke Fraser 😊
