You should look into some of FM's songs from the Peter Green era. Peter is often overlooked in terms of his vocal timbre. He has a soulful-sounding voice, especially on Black Magic Woman. Yes, Fleetwood Mac did the original. In comparison, the singing in Santana's version just sounds kinda meh

Mr Johnson, if you were an experienced vocal coach, you would have actually listened to the multiple genres Jacob can sing before your comments. he can sing in any style that he wants. And to pick on him in a charity raise to give an emotional performance and tell your audience he can't sing is utterly ridiculous. Go play the Christmas song, moon River snarky puppy jazz piece, the mahogany sessions series, in my room album, or the latest three or four pop songs that he's recorded and you will find that he can sing any style of music he wants and guess what, you can't ! just because you didn't like the way he sang it on this song gives you no right to criticize his capabilities. you can say this song style wasn't your thing, but to tell me his capabilities aren't there when he has some of the purest tone and range and endless genre styles that he can pull at any time he wants, your nutz.

I would have liked the call/response immediately after to have been included in the critique.

I watched another vocal teacher react to this same performance, and she argued that Dimash's shaking of his head during the high notes is not the result of a bad technique. According to her, it is an involuntary reaction because the resonation in the skull happens so drastically.

Dear Voice Teacher! Do you have videos where you actually present your vocal abilities and you have students videos presenting the same?

I'm assuming some of the earlier posters revealed this was at a talent show--in which he placed second. Edit: I should add that he placed second because this was a Chinese talent show and their rule said that a non-Chinese (he's from Uzbekistan) could not win the show. After this show, they changed the rule.
