      +Nezara Before the Honor thing though, he became the hip young American Dragon, who fell in love with a Dragon Hunter, which fueled the Zutara Ship in AtLA. Then participated in Antonio Bandera's experiment in teaching ghetto kids the passion of Ballroom Dancing. Then a mutated Mummy in Generator Rex. And finally becoming a General of the United Forces in Legend of Korra...who has a voice that sound too young for the age of the character.

    3:43 Bits of dialogue imply Hook has been by at least once because he's the one that took Jack's baseball. But he's actually been coming to London and abducting random children from random houses because he actually has NO FRIGGING CLUE where to look for Peter Pan or his children. This is why, at the end of the movie, Maggie is locked in a room with a bunch of other children. They're the kids he abducted BEFORE he took Jack and Maggie, and they're the reason why Glen Close!Pirate was betting he'd never find them. Because he's been colossally screwing up at finding these people for possibly decades now.

      Nice. I got the chance to talk to some members of the swordplay choreographers that worked on Hook. They said Robin Williams was the best person they ever had to work with. The most skilled and picked things up the fastest. Told me the way to tell how good an actor is at sword fighting is how far away the camera shots are. The better they are, the farther away the camera. He also said Charlie Sheen was the worst they ever worked with, and he put two extras in the hospital making The Three Musketeers.

    The narrator missed some. For instance, I remember when they were about to serve the imaginary food, Peter acted like he was smelling a wonderful aroma exciting his appetite. What was he smelling if there wasn't any food? He didn't learn to imagine the food yet, so his sense of smelling anything shouldn't have been affected.

      Or just the general concept of is someone thinks they are hungry, the brain can actually produce the feeling of smelling or tasting something even though you aren't smelling or tasting it. Just like how you can mentally have the same feeling playing a song in your head, as listening to the song (of course with chances of errors due to gaps in the actual memory of the song)

    i always thought the most obvious sin of this movie was that if Peter was brought to Neverland as a baby, and people don't age in Neverland, how did he grow up to a 10 year old boy? did Tinkerbell get sick of taking care of a baby and bring him back to earth long enough for him to grow into a not-baby?

    • @gokuxsephiroth4505
      @gokuxsephiroth4505 Před 8 lety +67

      +Brian Griffin I swear he wasn't brought to Neverland as a baby. I remember that when he was 10, he ran away to...Maybe not Hyde's park, but to a famous park in London and Tinkerbell found him and picked him up. But your nitpick still stands; I think that's what happened with the Lost Boys, and it still doesn't make much sense. Rolling out the prams as babies, then filed under "lost" for a few days and sent to Neverland if no one claimed them.

      +Goku x Sephiroth In the original novel The Little White Bird by J. M. Barrie where Peter makes his first appearance, there is no Neverland or Wendy Darling (the famous thimble kiss scene actually occurs between Peter and a girl named Maimie). He grows up among birds and fairies in the Kensington Gardens in London and an island in a lake called the Serpentine just outside the gardens after flying away from home. The story says that his ability to fly simply comes from his confidence in his ability to fly and that anyone could do it if they also believed (no fairy dust or happy thoughts needed). He is described as a "Betwixt-and-Between", see; not quite human and not quite bird (because all babies are birds before they are human in this story). During the entire timeline of the novel (which spans over several decades) Peter is a week old. Here is a quote about his age from the book:
      "Of course, it also shows that Peter is ever so old, but he is really always the same age, so that does not matter in the least. His age is one week, and though he was born so long ago he has never had a birthday, nor is there the slightest chance of his ever having one. The reason is that he escaped from being a human when he was seven days' old; he escaped by the window and flew back to the Kensington Gardens."
      Obviously this isn't what the play, the Disney film or this film is based on (apart from the thimble scene), but it is the only appearance of Peter Pan where his age is explicitly stated, although he is described as still having his baby teeth in the novelisation of the play.

    The reason Jack forgets about his father and Maggie doesn't is very simple, and is actually explained in the movie. When Maggie is encouraging Jack to "run home", she says, "Neverland makes you forget! Never forget!" This is true in the original Peter Pan works - John and Michael start forgetting their family and their lives back home and are eager to remain in Neverland with the Lost Boys. Ever notice how there are Lost Boys but no Lost Girls? Peter himself even says that girls are "too clever to fall out of their prams" and become Lost Girls, perhaps this is why John and Michael begin to forget their mother and Wendy doesn't - girls are "too clever" for Neverland's magic to work on them.
    Anyway, in Jack and Maggie's case, Maggie desperately wanted to go home, but Jack was more susceptible to the island's (and Hook's) charms due to his father seeming to not care as much about him and breaking all of his promises all the time. This is almost painfully obvious and should really not be counted as a sin (or several, as you seem to have awarded several sins for reasons which stem from this one).

    • @alexwalker8437
      @alexwalker8437 Před 4 lety +13

  • @TheGreatLKHS
    @TheGreatLKHS Před 8 lety +81

    #93 & #121 = In reference to the “Gene Hackman Superman Map”, the Pirates knew where the Lost Boys' camp was. Tinkerbell told Peter that Hook burned down Hangman's Tree some time after Peter's disappearance. The Lost Boys made a new camp around the tree. It was a very big camp. It overlooks the cove, with a clear view of the Jolly Rodger. The Captain knew exactly where the Lost Boys were. He didn't bother to kill them because Peter is the only person that he considered a worthy adversary. He had killed a few Lost Boys (and Indians), but annihilating the entire group would have left him and the pirates nothing to do.
    #115 = Although it is true that Peter did not fix a plate for himself, Rufio tossed a plate of food to Peter as he began to the insult battle. You could sin the lack of continuity of Rufio tossing a plate but Peter scooping from a bowl. However, you can't make a lack of food sin. You didn't get one over the movie.
    #136 = Sexualizing the relationship between Tinkerbell and Peter was not really the film's idea. I never read the original source material, but most presentations of the Peter Pan story has Tinkerbell with a huge crush on Peter. If Tinkerbell was attracted to Peter as a boy, then it only makes since that she'd be even more attracted to him as an adult. Plus you said in a later sin (#145) that Tinkerbell arrived “right at that moment to witness the dude she loves kiss someone else.” You know the common lore of Tinkerbell, so the romantic tension wasn't out of left field. By the way, Peter's sexual region would have been larger than Tinkerbell's region no matter what age he was.
    #148 & #149 = Peter cut off Rufio's belt to make the pants fall down in retaliation for Peter losing his pants during his earlier time with the Lost Boys. Peter didn't do that just to be “a dick.” The same thing for Peter hitting the Lost Boys with a ball and saying “Play.” He was teasing the Lost Boys as they teased him earlier.
    #159 = The movie explained the memory loss. As Maggie was being taken away, she yelled to Jack “Don't Forget! Neverland makes you forget!” Neverland magic is like the Force in Star Wars (if we ignore the midiclorian crap). There are no real rules to the magic. They're more like concepts and ideals instead of rules. Neverland is fueled by imagination. Children are much more in tune with their imaginations. That is why imaginary food can actually keep the Lost Boys nourished. Maggie believed in Neverland, but her feelings of her real home and family were strong and positive enough to protect her memory. She made sure to hold on to her past. Jack was angry and resentful. He was swayed by the charm of a father-figure that finally gave him attention, like a person being seduced by the Dark Side. He quickly forgot his true history. When Peter got his happy thought back, his decades suppressed Neverland-version was finally unleashed. Peter forgot his Banning-version, and was able to do all of the things that used to do: Fly, Fight, & Crow! When Peter kissed Tinkerbell, his mind reset itself. Real kisses are magical too. When Peter kissed young Moria, he forgot his Neverland-version. Long story shorter, Neverland can alter people's memories because... MAGIC!
    #165 = In reference as to why Maggie remembers her father, please review my previous explanation.
    #170 = Peter Banning didn't remember his Neverland-version. That is why the Lost Boys had to train him. That's had to re-learn his happy thought and to channel is imagination. Once his Neverland-version resurfaced, all of his talents and skills returned. Fly. FIGHT! Crow. It's on a similar line of many movie memory loss badasses, like American Ultra, Jackie Chan's Who Am I, and the Bourne franchise.

    The 8 o'clock thing got me thinking (3:19). If they're in bed at ~20:00 and the streetlights are on when they arrive at the house then they probably landed around ~17:00 or so. Add an hour or so to get baggage and travel from Heathrow/Gatwick, maybe a bit more. A bit of time in the house, maybe some food, then an early bedtime.
    The thing is they flew from California - a 10 - 11 hour flight. So they'd have taken off at around 07:00 GMT. Factoring in the time difference that's 00:00 in San Francisco. Generally international flights don't go from San Francisco though - they go from LAX. That's either an hour and a half on a plane or a seven hour drive from San Francisco.
    Peter Banning doesn't strike me as the seven hour car ride with the wife and kids type of person so they probably flew. He probably worked a full day and then travelled, after all, he's a workaholic. So by the time they arrive in London the kids have at least been up since the middle of the night and then spent the whole day on a plane.
    I could have got my maths wrong, of course, but it feels about right. I'm amazed the adults are as awake and coherent as they are, frankly!

    Alright, for the first time since starting to watch EWW, I feel the need to "Um, actually...."
    The smashing of the clocks is directly tied to the watch Peter gave his son as part of the promise, and the broken clocks represent the broken promises. It also adds more irony to the clock Hook made the crocodile into that eventually did him in.

    I don't know, I feel like the sin count on this one is a touch unfair. You seem to assume that whole "this is all in Peter's head" thing, and assign sins based on it. At the end you acknowledge that the movie itself directly establishes everything in Neverland ACTUALLY HAPPENED, so why the sins based on it being a dream?

    • @historybuff1174
      @historybuff1174 Před 8 lety +23

      +OrangeRangerVideos The sins have no represent value, they're all just things he noted down as he watched the movie.

    • @OrangeRangerVideos
      @OrangeRangerVideos Před 8 lety +11

      HistoryBuff117 I hate to sound argumentative, but there's a reason there's a counter in the upper left. Sometimes he does note things that aren't sins, but for example, he pointed out that IF this was a dream, he was seriously egotistical for Rufio wanting a dad like him AND Jack apologizing at basically the same moment. That was a sin, it was dinged, it was counted. BUT, it wasn't a dream, that really happened in the plot. So, I don't feel like that should have been a sin. I get your GENERAL point, that the sin counter doesn't mean good movie or bad movie, but I can say I've watched these videos having not seen movies and going "Wow, that seems pretty bad."

    • @historybuff1174
      @historybuff1174 Před 8 lety +18

      @OrangeRangerVideos Před 8 lety +5

      +HistoryBuff117 Yeah, you can say that, but I don't even think he'd deny that people do assign value to them. And since there's a clear difference between a sin and an observation (whether the counter goes up 1 or more and ding), I just didn't feel like some of the sins were fair. Don't worry, not losing any sleep over it, just observing.

    • @historybuff1174
      @historybuff1174 Před 8 lety +6
