Some slight updates on the classic and hugely popular Logitech MK270. The MK295 adds a little more of a modern look and new 2021 branding, along with an updated mouse sensor and dampened switches and keycaps.
The real emphasis is on noise, the MK295 has taken this to a spectacular level with almost entirely silence mouse buttons and tracking on any surface, and the keyboard keys are massively reduced in noise and wobble with a really firm and accurate key actuation.
Is it better than the MK270? Well if they are the same price it is a much better option, at maybe £5 or £10 more it is a tougher choice but it seems likely that the MK270 will at some point be phased out, and the MK295 will be it's natural successor. Personally i think that is a good thing, and i would certainly recommend this setup for any user, gamer, worker, learner or coder, all with find this easy to use and easy on the wallet.
Overall 8/10 Very good but a number lock light would be nice and maybe a slightly larger mouse.

That is crazy! The amount of reduction in noise absolutely phenomenal. And for that kind of price...wow! 2-3 years on one set of batteries is amazing! It does look easy to clean in case of a “Cider spill emergency”. Always paranoid that I will kill an expensive RGB keyboard that way. I am sure I will be buying several of these in the near future! Thanks for the informative review, Mike!

I still use my trusty old Logitech K400+ as a wireless keyboard/trackpad and I bloody love it. I always wanted to get the MK keyboard and mouse deal but could never justify it but I think Im gonna treat myself to one of these, always handy for when Im in the office but working away from my desk in a meeting room or something. Looks like a bargain at 30 notes (with FREE batteries lol) and with it being Logitech its gonna last forever. Thanks for taking the time in doing your detailed review on this, greatly appreciated Mike and Kath :-)

Logitech material generally seems like it lasts forever, so the MK295 wouldn't be a bad grab with the silent membrane.
      Just a small note:
Keys you very regularly frequent won't be so silent after a while, like in my case the arrow and Enter keys.
But that doesn't bother my too much.
The typing experience feels smooth on this.

Perfect. Lately my MK270 was really annoying the hell out of me and I didn't want to spend 200+ for a MX combo. One thing you forgot - but maybe it's specific to the 270 - was to test for flex during typing (270 tends to sag down the middle even when I don't use the legs) but from what I could see from the underside they added pads where it should help so fingers crossed.

MK270 in fact was the best keyboard Logitech released (that one with Logitech label, not Logilink (?) thing that is awful currently due to very pool plastics).

I've been using the MK270 for a very long time now (a couple years) and it's still an absolutely excellent keyboard and mouse set - to the point where I'm very apprehensive about moving on. However, my needs have since changed and I now need a keyboard and mouse with features that suit my needs, however I'm considering purchasing the upgraded 295 simply for its silent touch function, and for the familiar feel. All in all, absolutely excellent set for casual and gaming use, highly recommend.

Have seen your Review now. I'm owning this set too. And all I've to say is that is does it's job verry good. Normaly you didn't need to have hardware that is that expensive. For me the price isn't a guaratnor for quality over all. And for the most users I didn't think that a lot would recognize a difference between the cheap and the expensiver one in normal use conditions. So when all you want is useing your computer it's all you need I think because it does the job with a quiet good comfort. The hight isn't that much and it feels like a good compromise between normal hight keyboards and a laptop one. Really like the feeling of the typing of the MK295 Keyboard. The Rubber is stiff and you get a good response of what is goeing on. Even with the good quality of Logitech you should get a good product over all with a good lifetime.
    Thanks for your good review.

In older Versions of the MK270 they included a unifying receiver, and in later versions donwgraded to the "nano", which in some cases was still programmable.

What I don't understand about these two keyboard-mouse combos is that there seems to be two slightly different versions of each model. One variant has a large inverted L ENTER key while the other variant has a small rectangular one. This applies to both the MK270 and MK295. This is important to me as I much prefer a large Enter key which used to be practically universal on old keyboards. Some online shops even display the two variants (large and small Enter keys) in the same listing.

The worst thing they do now is to bundle a mouse and keyboard with a single receiver... Most folks already have a mouse, or want a better mouse, so that's just landfill right there as a compulsory purchase... Why don't they give a tiny discount if you want to skip the mouse??? Also a big step back is the loss of the unifying function (these new keyboards won't register or work with your older mk270r dongle.).

Thanks for the video, I had doubts regarding this model, I am looking for a silent wireless keyboard that allows me to play from time to time and work, apparently this one is good. Will you have any other option other than USB, Bluetooth connection, batteries or long-lasting battery?

As someone with some sensory processing issues, a quiet keyboard with a decent tactile response is something that I’ve been looking for in a long while but had no luck due to the clicky mechanical keyboards popular on the market today.
I noticed that you opened up the keyboard to reveal the membrane layer, but I was wondering if you had a look at the switches and the keycaps themselves. Are they compatible with cherry mx aftermarket keycaps or are they something proprietary. A quick glance at the silent touch white paper tells me it’s the latter.

    • @mikesunboxing

i just got this for work so i haven’t tested it out at the office yet. instead i tested it with my personal m1 macbook pro and obviously that doesn’t have a type-a slot so i had to use a dongle and the keys are SO crazy unresponsive. obviously coming from the scissor switches, i’m used to exerting only minimal pressure for the keys to register. however, for the mk295, i almost have to drop the entire weight of my fingers down on the keys just for it to register. otherwise, i type literally broken words because half the keys just do not register at all when i press it. is it because it’s not directly connected to the mac? or does it really just take a lot of pressure to get these keys to register?? these weren’t that expensive but i’s hate to spend $20 for nothing as the store doesn’t have a return/exchange policy for preference.

@@adamwalter2573 Logitech, all of them. The membrane problem is a bit more difficult to spot, because it is a gradual degradation. When you buy a new unit (after 2 years or 10+ years, it's up to you), the difference will be obvious: you'll be able to type more quickly and with less effort on the new unit as the new membrane is much quicker to return the key to the original position and has a different feeling to it. It may be a general issue on membrane keyboards but I've been a Logitech fan and I have not really tried others. I'm kind of surprised you did not have the sticker issue, however, because it is always very obvious in my case: the letters n, m, k tend to disappear first. (Which is no longer the case, BTW, because I've put the Logitechs on the shelf, returned the Cooler Master and bought a relatively cheap Redragon mechanical with double-shot injection caps).
