  • Check out my attempt at the Butterfly Reborn Quilt from the book Quilts without corners. There is something special about a round quilt, you can use them just like you would a regular throw. I enlarged the size to make it 70" which is the coolest thing ever.

Hey MAC! Happy to see you back. The Looper quilt is on my must do list. That butterfly was intense, lol! I will be working on an all solid quilt soon, can’t wait to see how it turns out. Thanks for sharing your beautiful quilts with us. - Stephanie

Oooh Stephanie you know that an all solids quilt is right up my alley. I'd like to do another butterfly in a cool color way.

Freezer is great for foundation paper piecing. I had it forever before I started FPP... I love it.

Hello. Thank you for putting together this video. I purchased the Platinum Edition of the book Quilts Without Corners because I wanted to make the Butterfuly Reborn. I have watched your video at least 3 times now and each time, I am relating to the problems you encountered! Laughing more as I can relate! Building that body piece for starters. Pattern says to cut at 20" but boy you are right...not enough fabric to add that template, so now I am faced with exactly your problem...I need to build another strata or start from scratch. Already marked in the book that 24" strips would probably be a wiser move. I enjoyed your comment on the circle template too! Just doesn't want to fit. So I love your solution. Just make it look like a 1/2 circle and use freezer paper. Noticed you didn't add that section on "Tails". Maybe if you had added a tail to your body you would have covered up that circle.
Just wanted you to know that I am sooooooooooooooo glad you put this together, and shared your challenges along the way; makes me feel that I am not alone with following patterns!

I'm so glad you enjoyed this video. It has been so long since I did this I might need to try again it sounds like I really struggled. Lol. Thanks for watching and leaving such a thoughtful comment.

@@MACoutureCrafting One more point. I am now done piecing, but I highly suspect that the body instructions are incorrect. When I went to add on the "tail" section I noticed that my body did NOT have that little right angle cut out at the top. I then skipped that section. So I think when you use that 1/2 template, the bottom edge should NOT be parallel to the C fabric but instead the upper left corner of the template should extend beyond Colour E...off the fabric. Then 20" folded of strata fabric actually works. Use those lines on the template to run parallel to the seams.
Looking now towards how you quilted it? Any thoughts on that?

@debbiemiethig5338 I usually send my stuff to a long armer. It's so good to hear where you have made adjustments I'm glad you didn't give up.

I'm not sure where I used the glue but it can only be one of two. It's either Elmer's or permanent by heat n bond
