He so handsome too....
I was lucky enough to see Chun Wei Chan perform at the Houston Ballet on my birthday a few years back. He’s brilliant 🥰
He is not brilliant and ballet brilliance and embarassing Houston ballet do not go together
What a journey! I know his parents and I still remember him when he was only 3 years old.
Lovely!
How old is he anyway? because he seems young which is an accomplishment considering he’s a principal dancer now.
@@user-lf6cf2ro4i he is 30 but I agree definitely looks younger. He has a CZcams channel which I have followed and I think he even reads as even younger there. Although 30 is not exactly young for a ballet dancer it’s also a time in which they can be in there absolute prime so I’m glad to see he’s getting his chance at this age.
@@chocolatesouljah oh absolutely, congratulations to him.
@@user-lf6cf2ro4i yes! I’m glad you agree! And ditto on the congratulations!
I’m so happy for him. He is clearly very talented and charismatic.
He is handsome… very handsome
He's phenomenal. His form is perfection and his technique immediately draws you in.
and his personality and his appearance.
Congratulations to Chun Wai Chan! He is an absolutely beautiful dancer! ❤❤❤
most people do not realize how important is ballet & performing arts impact on humankind, how to deal with our fragile nature and make it worthy. Any criminal intention is having roots there, on feeling fragile, vulnerable, tiny and ...worthless. Trying to keep the body under control for first is the biggest challenge above all. Ballet performers help us realize how far we are from being so ... strong, it's about dealing with our human material nature, yeah, we can build up a better humankind together, hanging on things that make life worth living
My hats off to these dancers!! Such dedication to the art, and total commitment! His form is beautiful, and he has that ability to look like he flying, just hanging in the air!!
I'm not sure people realize what a huge deal this is. NYC ballet is so renowned
He is brilliant. Perfect ! Even his English is excellent. I am so proud of him!! Congratulations!
Congratulations Chun, he’s also good looking
He’s beautiful. Congratulations to him!
This is amazing! He’s broken through 🥹 he’s so handsome 🥰
This story made me cry! So excited for him
Why do I cry see this man so proud of you man.
Oh my word!! Just these short segments of him at rehearsal or performing! Stunning!
His charisma and sincerity 👍🏻
He is mesmerizing 🙆🏻♀️
So cool. He is so elegant and talented. Nice to see him dancing with Sara Mearns also. 🌟🌟
I've performed with him and it's so crazy to see him on TV!!!
Congratulations! In so far as ballet is a global phenomenon, I hope we can incorporate Chinese balletic influences in some future NYCB offerings. I'd hate to think that all Chinese ballet has to offer is technique! Surely not!
So he has been in the US for ten years! Houston has been welcoming to Asian dancers since Mao's Last Dancer joined the company. And I was glad to see Sara Mearns is still dancing, 20 years or more since she was chosen for Swan Lake at 19.
4:23 “I think I would say this is my second home and I enjoy the life here so much.”
Mr Chun is charmingly diplomatic.
There was no need for that question. He really answered the question well.
He is beautiful 💎
So proud of him! He has come such a long way! I always have so much respect for people who are truly passionate about what they are doing, and are willing to sacrifice anything just to achieve their goals. Huge respect for him!
Congratulations to him! Very well done!
CONGRATS MR. CHAN !!!
Congratulations to him! So well deserved!!
Congratulations Chun!!! Well deserved 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
Congrats Chun Wai Chan!
What-a-beautiful-dancer!
He seems to be a really nice guy. Diversity does make it better.
What is "it"?
He does seem really nice, so we shouldn't cheapen his humanity with the "diversity" crap.
Can we just say he was the best available dancer or do have to say he was a diversity hire?
@@chrislieu6757 I don’t think that’s what the commenter meant. He just meant representation matters. I don’t think there is affirmative actions in the ballet world.
@@bchui2000 Some people have replaced the hierarchy of merit with the hierarchy of identity. There is a very real movement to eliminate blind auditions. I can celebrate diversity if it is achieved through merit not in spite of merit, I don't think my sentiments are universal.
So happy for him!!
What a great story and love the diversity even seen in the world of ballet
“I never thought about it because it was so big to think about”
I felt like a schoolgirl with the giggles when he said the guy was preparing for the nutcracker. (Yes, I am obviously immature). 🤭
How wonderful! Best of luck to him.
I'm absolutely certain he is extremely talented but I gotta say that derrière looks just simply amazing.
Right!!! Very tight, very firm!
Ha ha sheesh
And he has the best legs in the biz. Harder to see them in this video but look at some of his old Chunner studio or Harper Watters/Pre Show videos
OMG I love this so much!! Congratulations Chun Wai Chan, well deserved!!! ❤
Lovely person. First saw him on Instagram and Became a huge fan.
This is amazing. I have been following him on anoher CZcams channel since 2019. And now look at this. Amazing.
Chun Wai Chan is truly a blessing to the world of dance and to our world as well. ❤️
Congratulations! 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
This is phenomenal! Loved seeing him last month!

Congratulations! So proud of you.
Congratulations! Well deserved.
Bravo excellence
He dodged the question if he’s American. Great response! Congrats on what he accomplished.
Iconic and inspirational so proud of Asian Americans and dance ✨💚
so happy for him!!!
Love his techniques
Congratularions to both Chin Wei Chan and NYC Ballet!🥂
I love this 💗💗💗 So inspiring! And Christina is so good at ballet as well!
very risky sport and hats off to the bloke.
So proud of you! Can’t wait to see him live on stage in New York!
Very, very polished gentleman!!
He’s amazing!! I hope to see him one day.
He’s anti-gravity in many ways…making a life choice at 12 in a written disclaimer of being responsible for his own choice set the stage. Hope he can write a memoir one day - a journey similar and yet different to Mao’s last dancer.
In my opinion,The performing arts programs in Houston is one of the best in the country, No consolation price, au contraire, is a huge platform. Case in point, he is where he is because of it.
Pao using fancy words such as *au contraire* , awwww !
Houston Ballet is unquestionably a top top world class company. There’s an argument to be made that it’s the best classical company in the country (and this is coming from someone whose favorite company is NYCB!).
This is amazing! Congrats to his hard work & success!
Bravo!
Great segment @CBSMornings!
Bravo Mr Chan. 👏🏽
Brava Ms.Ruffini! 💐
Chan and Yuanyuan Tan are my favorite.

Omg, so proud of him!
Congratulations, To Chun Wai Chan! Your Dance Moves, are So Delightfully Natural!
So Glad your Parents, agreed To Send you To Profesdional Ballet Dancing School!
You are Working with A Team of Fine Americans, and I Can See, they Absolutely, DOTE, Over you! AIM HIGH! The Sky is your Limit, Bud! I Wish you Great Success!
Congrats
Wow, his muscles are so impressive. Do they have to work out at gyms too like rigorously other than ballet training?
I doubt it. That’s what lifting your own body in a million different ways each day does to it. I’m not sure lifting weights or using resistance bands would engage even half the muscles that dancers regularly use.
Great! It's like Nathan Chen has a distant cousin who can do phenomenal Ballet. So proud of Chun Wai Chan 陈镇威
he is incredible dancers and light on his feet
So cute! 😍😍😍
Congratulations!
Chinese son: "Mom, dad, I became the first Chinese principal dancer at the NYC Ballet."
Chinese parents: "But you're still not the best ballet dancer in the world."
😂😂. Damn Chinese parents. I laugh but I’m not sure this attitude is a good thing
About time.
He’s so charming
Just 10 years, to the top! This the charming of NYC.
Love this guy’s excitement for his kraft.
Wow Congratulations!
