    Thankyou for a simple and really nice tomato sauce. Its not pretentious its just good. Its not overspiced or overflavoured......sauce as it should be. 👍 🇦🇺

    while this is not a very good sauce it's the only one on youtube (including chefs) that correctly cook their sauce for more than 30mins.

      You are the first and only person who thinks this. Did you follow the instructions? Everyone pallet is different, hopefully you find one you like.

      @@Retiredfirehousecook no fry onion & garlic, & no meat. while my mother and nonna have made this type of sauce before they only did it when they couldn't afford meat. all your doing is slow cooking tomatos. to the average person this is a good sauce.

      My wife doesn’t like onions, or cooked celery. One Sunday, at the fire house, the veggies were bad, the sauce tasted fine to everyone,So I stopped using them. Sometimes I do put in a beef shank,if the store has some, Maybe I’ll do that from now on. Sounds like a good idea. Thanks. Miss cooking with my Mom and Nonna. I should mention: The meatballs cook in the sauce the whole time,

    Do you think you could put it in slow cooker for cook all day ?

    • @Retiredfirehousecook
      @Retiredfirehousecook  Před 2 měsíci

      I I never used a slow cooker. The biggest thing is you need to be home, so you can skim off the oil that comes to the top. I wouldn’t leave it for more than 2 hours.

    Nice simple recipe! Do you cover the pot when cooking for 5 hours? It seems it would make a mess of the stove when bubbling up from the heat.

    • @Retiredfirehousecook
      @Retiredfirehousecook  Před měsícem +1

      No. I keep it uncovered. Cooking it for 5 hours, lets me keep the heat low enough that it doesn’t bubble out.
      Thanks for the question, please let me know if you try it. Has great flavor.

      @Retiredfirehousecook it's funny how we can't wait to retire. But after a couple of years. We wish we were still in the fire service, right? I do go to lunch with my guys, too. Stay safe and healthy, brother
