One tip immediately useful was the shortcut sending the phone to Lock Screen when you set it up for a particular app. While I don’t necessarily care about my photos I have been looking for a way to lock my Notes App. I even called Apple tech support asking how to do this. They said it couldn’t be done and I could only lock individual notes. What a pain. This tip works PERFECTLY!

If you type a verb or a sound in the search engine for photos, it will show you the videos in which that particular action or sound is present & highlight that part of the video. For example, if you search laughing, the search results will show all the videos where there’s laughter.

I have a question on one of your tips. I would like the ability to turn ordinary photos into gifs, since so often in social media you can't leave images, but you can leave gifs. But your tip only involves live photos. Can you do it with ordinary photos?

Another good one: You can make animated stickers from live fotos bei holding the object/subject to seperate it from the background then select add sticker and then tap again on the created sticker, go to the right arrow and select edit effect and there you can select live on/off. (Maybe a litte different due to translation from German :-) )
Without a doubt, the shortcut sending the phone to Lock Screen when you set it up for a particular app was priceless! I ended up using a single automation to protect Contacts, Mail, Messages, Notes, Numbers, Pages, and Photos This tip works as described, thank you! Just a reminder, Personal Automations do not use iCloud and must be created on every device separately.
Yeah it was really helpful but just that the shortcut app itself can't be locked.

Hi Tim and everyone! I noticed something on my iPhone 12 pro yesterday. When I charged my phone last night to 94% and after few minutes I restarted it, my battery percentage was 97%. I thought it might be some bugs or idk why its strange. To reconfirm it, I again charged my phone to 95% today evening, unplugged it and then restarted so again my battery percentage was 99%. What could be the reason, do I need battery recalibration? As per apple, iPhone batteries doesn't need recalibration though
To identify music anywhere on social media or anywhere for that matter you can also set a quick button for Shazam in your control panel, just drag the panel down while it’s playing and it’ll start listening while you can continue doing whatever you want

Hey, just want to know a way on how to record a video while my Bluetooth speaker is connected and playing the songs. I want the music in my video and it just stops when the camera is opened !
Thank you for the Shazam tip. Especially the bonus! I’ve stopped using the Shazam in control center because it doesn’t link to my Shazam, and I didn’t have the history!
Another trick with the Search function is that you can concatenate several search terms to narrow down the results, for example "Beach, sunset, 2018". Hmm - for some reason, when I search for GIF in Shortcuts, the only option that comes up is the one to make a GIF from burst mode?
You can also put Shazam on your control center. Just tap it on your control center and it will automatically listen to what you’re watching or listening without making the video or music pausing.
But if you want your phone to listen to the environment. Make sure you’re not playing anything.
You don’t have to ask Siri all the time this way and Shazam things more discreetly.
It would be great to have folders in Hidden Album of the Photos.

If you create a slideshow and press the Screen Record button while you are watching it, it will record the slideshow and allow you to share it! 👍

Is there a way to lock the screen faster upon opening the photos app? I noticed before it locks, it opens the app normally with everything inside visible for a second. Is there something in the shortcut that we can edit or add?
That’s lame as hell what’s the point of locking photos if it’s gonna show for a split second

Your videos are a relieve for iPhone users.
I have iPhone 13. When I activate DND and someone call me. It gives them a busy tone.
On my previous iPhone. Calls while on DND gives the caller a normal ringtone. Then it gives me a silent notification of a missed call.
I don’t know how to solve this point.
Note. I am on a carrier outside USA and we don’t have voicemail service.
We can see auto albums for screenshots and raw etc but I wish you could see the opposite as an album, ie just camera taken jpg’s.
The Emegency Bypass specifically says that it will bypass for this person “even when the ring switch is set on silent.” But you said it doesn’t. Im going to test for myself, but wanted to point out in case you want to double check.

Shazam is (mostly) great and fast, but with google you can literally sing "do do doo" and most of the time it will show you the song you had in mind
why apple removed magnifier feature, i guess since iOS 16 it got removed

The photo search will also find pictures that contain a specified word in them. For instance, say you search for the word Coke. The results will include any pictures you have containing that word. Coke t shirt, coke can, receipt where you bought cokes, etc.

Nr.1 you dont have to do via siri and you dont need to have turned the volume all up. It can even work with airpods in i think
apple make an iphone pro max with a built in stylus like the Samsung galaxy ultra ! it would be quite handy to have an apple version packed with features. 👍
So any person privy and savvy enough can see the Photos app locks. Hopefully that’s the end of it, but they could just as easily delete the shortcut to circumvent initiating the Lock Screen command and in the end see all your photos.

The problem about locking apps is that you can’t lock the shortcuts app itself. So if someone wants to they can disable your automation
They would have to unlock the phone again to do anything at that point. The Lock Screen would lock the phone completely.

Hi - Yes, the price is 100% configured as $5 (US) per month. You're saying that you've been charged more than this? Which platform did you sign up with? Do keep in mind that if you're in a region that uses $ that aren't US (Canada, Australia) you would of course be charged at your local converted rate, the same as anyone signing up using £ or €.

I’m not tech-savvy enough to attach a screenshot to this text- but under my subscriptions it says “Proper Honest Tech Subscription…6.99.” I’m not actually complaining (you’re worth 6.99), but just curious about the discrepancy. I thought it might be because I subscribed from a link in an older video and thought you must have increased the price. But today in this new video, you said $5 again. 🤔

I am waiting for the day when the keyboard (or Gboard as a 3rd party app) can be customized with custom layouts. I am Hungarian and we use letters like ÉÁŐÚÓÜ and those are placed next to P and L, so basically on the right side of the keyboard.
Now, holding down A to have an Á is one way of course but when you're typing that is not when your brain and muscle memory would strike the key. Without this, I am a lame duck typing on iOS.
Screen record with sound was unknow
I wish Shazam could identify movie titles and tv shows the same way it does songs.
I kind of think this will be coming in the not-too-distant future, perhaps not Shazam, but AI should be able to do this. I used ChatGPT to help me work out a movie the other day by (deliberately very vaguely) describing a scene to it. It's pretty remarkable.

If you have a picture on your phone that you need to hide then it shouldn't be on your phone, people can go to the deep or dark web and find it
Whilst I agree that people should exercise caution about what photos they're storing on their devices, claiming that "people can go to the deep or dark web" and then somehow gain access to your phone's photo library is just inaccurate.
