So Gimli killed Galadriel, Gandalf was safed by a ram, Gimli and Legolas killed a dragon in Moria and Boromir glitched through a wall... Can't say I remember these scenes. Good reason to rewatch the movies.
You need to watch the extended edition for those scenes

Oh my god, I used to spend countless hours making LOTR AoE2 scenarios when I was like 10 you have no idea how amazing this is to me
Same
The number of crappy fanmade Helm's Deep scenarios out there is truly mind-boggling...
Haha, same. My stat-boosted berserker, longbowman, and champion slew hordes of grey men-at-arms. A complex of Turkish wonders was always my Barad-Dur, and the Spanish wonder had to do as Orthanc.
Shelob's Lair is now in the map. Face her and get a nice bonus. Hidden caves, let me know if you find her.
Cracked me up when The Watcher in the Water pops up as a ship.

I really missed that adorable elephant pic too
By the time he said "Now one awesome thing about this scenario..." (12:53) I already forgor that I was watching an AoE video!
In the return of the king when Aragorn fights the troll, they originally made that sauron. But in the end the changed it to a troll
I love that a few of the models (Sauron and the Spiders notably) are the same models for Baldurs Gate
A dark ancient growl is heard in the halls... when suddenly across the room Gimli appears!
Oliphaunt fact at 3:20 always da best
Explains Lord of the Rings lore to AoE nerds, as if 98% of AoE nerds didn't know the movies back to front
Fun fact: The orc model in the texture pack is actually from the Baldur’s Gate game series, which is personally my favourite RPG game
So is the Red Dragon
"They are taking the homeboys to lazer tag" - Legalize Greenleaf
This was obviously a labour of love. I miss RPG games like this. I got Warcraft 3, Diablo, Heroes of Might and Magic vibes from this.
Ahhh yes, I remember the time when Sauron killed Frodo, then Gandalf killed Sauron right over the fires of Mount Doom.
It was such a great moment in both the movies and the books.
Quoting Tolkien: "As Frodo fell to the floor, the lifeless corpse stared into Gandalf's eyes. With the greatest growl, Gandalf shouted "Kisama!" as he backfliped into fighting mode. Sauron gave a boasting laugh. Then, Gandalf put on the ring, turning invisible. "Where is it?" Sauron thought in despair, but his expression didnt change. Then he remembered he can see people who wear the ring, but it was too late, Gandalf's kamehame was at full charge."

We'll never be able to tell them apart again
I would have followed you Player 2 ... my captain... my king.
Man, this reminds me of a similar map rpg for battle for middle earth, pretty much the same thing, but everyone had to protect frodo at all times.
on steam workshop?
One thing that could improve this already godlike scenario:
Recruiting non-core fellowship members to replace the dead Fellowship.
Yes, let's journey to Mordor with Tom Bombadil and Treebeard!
Finally a chance for Faramir, captain of Gondor to show his quality
The most awesome part of this was Frodo duelling *Sauron* on his own. Sure, he lost, but man could that little hobbit put up a fight by the end of things!
Wait... Are those orc sprites from Baldur's Gate 2? And Sauron is Sarevok? Awesome
Also Firkragg as the Moria Dragon
I may have already said this on another video, I don't remember but I'm just gonna reiterate that I do not, nor have I ever, play(ed) any Age of Empires game and yet I still find this channel interesting and entertaining.
Imagine if they made the Battle of Minas Tirith in AOE2
Amazing scenario. A pity that people are more interested on criticize some things here and there than appreciate the work spent on this. Congratulations to all people involved, this is fr**cking amazing.
Gimli really reminds me of his appearance in the old Game Boy Advance version of Return of the King
The storytelling here is brilliant, as well as in the Game of Thrones video, I can listen to you tell about in-game stories for hours.
Well, this ended like many RPG adventures, with the noble heroes slowly becoming murder hobos and spreading chaos and destruction to their suposed allies (like they did in Lothlorien)
I'm really impressed that you said Caradhras correctly. Good Job
But it still bugs me that they use Orthanc for Barad-Dûr.
Interesting that some of the 'Trolls' (with spiked mace and helmet) were recognisable as the Bugbears from Baldur's Gate Dark Alliance! Loved that game so was fun to see them again..
Legolas killed by getting trapped in the wall.
Don’t remember that from the movie.
Great, now I want to play Battle for middle earth.
Lovely story telling! I could listen to these for hours near a campfire
I really wish *Spirit* would make more of these, just like he did in Game of Thrones Overhaul.
Sadly, I don't think he likes revisiting these, just show them off once and that's that. :(

Hey Spirit, could you do a video on the best Steam AoE2 mods? Maybe in separate categories - best random maps, best graphics sets, best scenarios, best gameplay enhancing mods, etc
AoE2 and LoTR fits perfectly together.
Also, Baldur's Gate apperantly. (according to some, a few sprites came from that game)
I love that alot of the sprites are used from Icewind Dale 😁
I had to pause and grin seeing Sarevok being used as a sprite for Sauron and Firkragg as the Moria Dragon also the Orc sprites were fun to see
How much pierce-armor do you want?
Gimli: "Yes."
It's amazing how feats the Baldurs Gate II's models of some creatures into Age of Empires II.
Fun fact: Sauron's physical form is actually Sarevok from BG1.
Sauron's fortress looks awfully similar to Saruman's tower. hmmm...
Its now Barad-Orthanc !
"the union of the two towers"
Saruman is just a Sauron stan
Awesome video! As always. I knew that mod existed back in the day in aok heaven but with this really shines. I wonder if you would do in a future a video about Age of Chivalry: Hegemony wich is technically a mod but also has a lot of game mechannics changed, and even to 2015 they continued adding more civs. Cheers
This thing was always my dream. When I was still in school and played a lot with AoE2 map editor, I made various stuff but my dream was to make a hack and slash crpg with the editor. I always knew it was possible, but my skill wasn't up for it since I was just a dumb kid. But I'm really happy to know that it is really can be done.
1:30 Well, actually...
Gimli probably would've been invisible, as The One is vastly different to the seven.
Gandalf, well that's debatable, since he is a maia but also has a "mortal" body; and because we don't know how exactly mastery over The Ring would effect the invisibility.
Can't have someone say something about LOTR without at least one contradiction, can we now?
Edit: The Sauron vs Aragorn Duel wasn't in the books, but a cut scene from ROTK (Sauron was CGI'd into that troll at the black gate).
I won't die on this hill, and I know it's just a Reddit post, but there are convincing arguments (for me) in here about why Gandalf and dwarves wouldn't be turned invisible: old.reddit.com/r/tolkienfans/comments/18aqww/question_why_does_saurons_ring_seemingly_turn/
I've seen the deleted scene you mention, but I was referencing a passage in The Black Gate Opens. It only makes sense to me if I read it as Aragorn personally calling Sauron (not his armies) out of Mordor.
_ "Let the Lord of the Black Land come forth! Justice shall be done upon him. For wrongfully he has made war upon Gondor and wrested its lands. Therefore the King of Gondor demands that he should atone for his evils, and depart then for ever. Come forth!" The was a long silence, and from wall and gate no cry or sound was heard in answer. But Sauron had already laid his plans, and he had a mind first to play these mice cruelly before he struck to kill. _
The fellowship of the ring never encountered an enemy as fearsome and terrible as... A wall
Legend are back
Damn this looks amazing!
One does not simply live longer than Aragorn

@@nehemiahjensen8812 If you ever get the chance you should try the two towers as well. It's a bit more clunky (there are no 3 attack combos, just single strikes) but still quite good.
@@trashaimgamer7822Yep, I have them both, but I only ever beat two towers with Gandalf. He had much cooler powers in two towers. I've been looking for a fellowship of the ring game for years now, but I don't think that was ever a thing

The ring wouldn't make humans sneaky either. Hobbits go invisible because that's their "natural attribute" by which Tolkien described them. Humans will probably get stronger and sturdier, elves faster and so on. But I get why a dwarf and istari might not get affected normally due to their origin. Though both Gandalf and dwarves used rings. Gandalf used elven ring and dwarves had their own ones. What they did is a mystery though.
Isildur was invisible when using ring.
@TheArklyte you're wrong, the ring has its own will and it knows the best how should it affect its wearer to make him useful. Probably the ones with enough power and knowledge would partly bend the ring's will and abuse it instead of being a mindless tool.
@@Michal235 Yeah. And Narya (The ring Gandalf possesed) is described as having the power to inspire others to resist tyranny, domination and despair, as well as having the power (in common with the other Three Rings) to hide the wielder from remote observation (except by the wielder of the One) and giving resistance to the weariness of time. It is also thought to have magical properties and fire powers, as when fighting Durin's Bane, Gandalf claims to wield the Flame of Anor.
Using Sarevok's model is a nice touch.
3:18 Ofcourse it only counts as one, this is aoe2.
