2-3 drops of dish soap added will break water tension and they will drown as well...
No escape and I really hate flies and mosquitoes.

I just used a regular knife out of my kitchen.
I think a large Phillips screwdriver would work well, hitting it with a hammer. But it does depend on the size of your flies, naturally.
