  • This little streamer has proven extremely effective in salt water for sea trout in the spring. The combination of weighted eyes and deer hair head give it a attractive muddler effect for sea trout that are feeding A la carte... Visit my site thefeatherbend...

I just finished my first one one of these. It turn out ok, but not as good I would have liked it too. But, it is fishable. Like you said, Justus takes practice. I used, a larger hook and make you whole fly bigger. I'm going to be fishing for large mouth Bass with it. You didn't say, what is the purpose of burning some around the fly? I could smell you burning that deer hair all the way from Norway to Alabama. LOL Thanks. for another GREAT LESSON!!.. STAY Safe !!!

Hi Mike, stick with it and all will be well! The burning or more correctly the singeing of the deer hair does several things. It evens out the cut surface so its smoother, it cauterizes the ends of the deer hair with reduces water absorption and it tightens the spun hair with again reduces water absorption. It also makes it look a whole lot better. But remember always singe from above the fly, for obvious reasons.... If you wish to improve your tying may I suggest: czcams.com/video/mVLof0uXqyE/video.html Good luck!

It will probably work better in freshwater. One time my friend and i were fishing for a big golden rainbow for hours with all kinds of lures and bait, he found a little sculpin threw it in and it got slammed, he missed it and the second cast it stole the sculpin
