  • Cheech ties up one of his favorite slider patterns in a color scheme that wrecks the fish. If you haven't tied a slider, this is a good one to learn.

    Hi Cheech,
    Great job on this and all of your other videos. You and Curtis could go into comedy together if this fly tying and fly fishing bit doesn’t work out.... I always smile and laugh watching your videos. You guys have a great sense of humor!
    Question: do you have plans to add this color combo to your Fulling Mills offering?
    As the eyes and hands start to fail more and more it’s nice to have options to purchase that I don’t always have to tie myself. Many thanks!

      Jeff Brooks we have talked to them a little bit about this color combo. Hopefully it makes the cut.

      I'd fish this on at least an 8wt, like the St. Croix Mojo with a streamer line.

    I love using the dumbbells eyes but I’ve had them start to rotate on me after 20 casts or so. I’ve used super glue, sally Hanson’s and UV resin. Does this happen to you and how do you keep that from happening?

    • @FlyFishFood
      @FlyFishFood  Před 5 lety

      I have seen that with guys who use GSP to tie in the eyes. Other than that, use thick thread and lots of tension when you tie them in. Use more wraps than you think on the eyes before you glue them in place. Also, use a superglue that will seep in and soak the thread.

    • @richardnystrom8756
      @richardnystrom8756 Před 5 lety

      I do use GSP for that so I think you’re dead on with that. What thicker thread would you recommend?

      I use 210 denier, and 3/0 for my eyes. I glue in layers on them too. I have broken the eyes before the thread and glue let go.

      @@richardnystrom8756 I'd use 140 or 210 denier UTC or Danville. I'm a huge proponent of only tying with GSP if you absolutely need it (like with deer hair) due to the slippage. It will make your flies actually more durable if they don't slide around on the hook shank. Happy tying!!

  • @Taylor_in_Southern_Oregon

    Why is it called "slider"?
