Friend of mine was a Vietnam era SEAL. Greg McPartlin, RIP. Greg owned MCP's Irish Pub, a SEAL hangout for west coast team guys and BUDS personnel (including candidates.) McP's is just down the street from the NAB where the west coast guys are based. Greg left us in 2018. He was a great man.

Hi, I’m a woman in her 20s and I’m training to become a U.S. Navy SEAL. I’m a civilian and I want to go enlisted.
What advice would you give for women that want to be SEALs? If you had to go to BUD/S again, how would you prepare differently? What books or workout programs would you recommend?
Most female SEAL candidates struggle with carrying the boats and logs, doing pull ups, having grip strength and completing the “Dirty Name” on the obstacle course. Also, a lot of female SEAL candidates break their legs or develop stress fractures.

I love the SEALs from this era - they're not muscle head roided out dudes covered in tattoos like a lot of today's SEALs. They're these thin scrawny guys who were every bit as badass as their modern day brothers.

@Anonymous18817 Tough undertaking..but I don't believe it's impossible, just extremely difficult for even a well prepared man, let alone a lighter built female. You gotta be able to stand the weight of the boats on you're head, carry the big logs & PT them, runs in the deep sand, burn out PT, performing all the evolutions satisfactory. And...there's a ton more. Get all the information you can on preparation. Some info you find online is BS. Inquire and prep hard. Many guys that DOR or get rolled into another class were getting shin splints, stress fractures etc. Best of luck to you. Myself, US Navy Special Weapons Lebanon Grenada & NATO Europe 81-87

@@Anonymous18817 well at the very least you have your work cut out for you. if you make it, more power to you. I think for a woman to want that job is more than psychotic. I know SEALs. I don't want to discourage anyone from doing what they feel is right.
